I also think so, mainly because this season Bernardo's has been providing consistent performances carrying the team.Kinda deserved but it will feck up City more. Another loss to Chelsea and the league will be pretty much done.
He didn't yet reach the heights of last season to be fair, although his energy (and finesse!) in big games is a big feat anyway.I also think so, mainly because this season Bernardo's has been providing consistent performances carrying the team.
That counts for city squad as a whole. De Bruyne himself is not offering the same end product either. Must be hard to motivate players to defend a title who gave so much work to conquer, though. He didn't yet reach the heights of last season to be fair, although his energy (and finesse!) in big games is a big feat anyway.
It's the logo for Spanish confectionery brand Conguitos, whose products are readily available on supermarket shelves all over Spain and Portugal. It's not like he randomly pulled out a pic to cause offence to his mate Mendy (and yes, they are good mates). This will be something he's familiar with and has grown up with so there was no malice intended, but yes, there's no denying it lends itself to a racial stereotype. I heard a previous incarnation of the character showed it holding a spear (that was before Bernardo Silva was born by the way). What I find surprising is, with these stereotypes in mind, how the company is still allowed in the present day to display the logo despite being based in a Western European nation. While Silva was somewhat foolish to post that tweet in the public domain, and is now fully aware of it's negative connotations, the logo continues to be seen in public all over the Iberian peninsula with no comeback on the company themselves.I just saw the cartoon character Silva posted for the first time - what an ugly little racist stereotype. It looks similar to typical racist cartoons of black people that used to be common in many countries.
Where does this character come from? I am aware that in Brazil, for example, with its proportion of African descent people and very different culture, such a character might be regarded as nothing more than a mascot. However, if you are a professional footballer from whatever country in the Premier League, you should be aware that comparing your team mate with such a cartoon on twitter is likely to bring condemnation.
Had Silva put the Black Panther super hero character that would have been different but I think the politically correct might have a probem with it. And is Silva actually as friendly with Mendy as he claims? That was put forward as the reason for his tweet.
Ahhh, Id have to disagree a bit on this one. According to fantasy manager KDB has 10 assists and 2 goals in the league, which is unheard of in 13 games.. he's has had some wild moments here and there, albeit his last couple of games haven't had the same average endproduct, but if he keep that assist-rate up he must be breaking some sort of recordThat counts for city squad as a whole. De Bruyne himself is not offering the same end product either. Must be hard to motivate players to defend a title who gave so much work to conquer, though.
Thanks very much for your reply - I've just seen it - and its information plus context. It's the logo for Spanish confectionery brand Conguitos, whose products are readily available on supermarket shelves all over Spain and Portugal. For sure, in and out of the team too. He's been ok but not near his standard of last season. Think he'd probably do better if he got a consistent run of games but Mahrez has passed him in the rw pecking order and its looking for all intents and purposes Foden might be ahead of him in the no.8 spot.Anyone else think he's been really underwhelming this season, ever since that Mendy incident?
Wasn't he a part of the 3 man KDB-Silva-Fernandinho midfield for a period of time, or am I remembering that wrong? For sure, in and out of the team too. Even before. Been poor since the season started.Anyone else think he's been really underwhelming this season, ever since that Mendy incident?
Yup he looked like he might make that his own at times last season. This season that spot has been mostly Gundogans.Wasn't he a part of the 3 man KDB-Silva-Fernandinho midfield for a period of time, or am I remembering that wrong?
B.Silva has already been played more as a RW though at City. Last season in the bigger games when Sane was sitting out, it was Sterling and Silva on opposing wings.Yup he looked like he might make that his own at times last season. This season that spot has been mostly Gundogans.
I think in a way he's guilty of his versatility since he arrived, he's played both wings, CM and up front (as a false 9) at times.
Yup but he's been denied that role by Mahrez this season who seems to be Pep's first choice.B.Silva has already been played more as a RW though at City. Last season in the bigger games when Sane was sitting out, it was Sterling and Silva on opposing wings.
Yea I understand that, though surprised given how good Bernardo was. But it just in reference to some saying that he was playing in central midfield, I think his main role has been as a RW.Yup but he's been denied that role by Mahrez this season who seems to be Pep's first choice.
He's played RW most, I think the other poster was referring to the spell where he played in the middle with KDB and Fernandinho when David Silva was for a run of 5 or 6 games last season. He played very well and people were saying 1 Silva will replace the other.Yea I understand that, though surprised given how good Bernardo was. But it just in reference to some saying that he was playing in central midfield, I think his main role has been as a RW.
Maybe he is just overrated?Needs to leave City as soon as possible, what a waste of a great talent.
With De Bruyne not injured anymore he'll simply not get enough time in his best position. On the right wing Mahrez is clearly the better player too.
He was easily one of the best players in the league '18--'19.Never thought he was all that tbh, even at Monaco. While very few players can match him technically, there's not much else that's elite in his game.
He was incredible last season and at Monaco.Maybe he is just overrated?
He is. Was good at Monaco but usually dissapeared after 60-70 mins then struggled for most part of his first season at City. Yeah, was amazing in 18/19 but then this season returned to his previous level and that was even before his Twitter activity. Doesn't help that Pep's obsessed with Gundogan as a 8 and never plays Bernardo - De Bruyne in midfield because possession, possession ,possession.Maybe he is just overrated?
Not in my opinion he wasn't.He was easily one of the best players in the league '18--'19.
Then who was? Bernardo Silva was great in 2018/19.Not in my opinion he wasn't.
If I was him, I'd cut a leg off so I became superslow, than start running away from tackles any shirking anything other than passing sideways vs any semi competent team. Will make him a shoe in for the Gundogan role.
He should be rightly furious about his game time at the end of this season.
I still think Bernardo is great as a RW, he’s just had a poor season by his standards even when he’s played in the middle. Often anonymous and underwhelming rather than actively bad. I think he’ll bounce back next season but whether he’ll ht the heights of 2018/19 again is a different question.Needs to leave City as soon as possible, what a waste of a great talent.
With De Bruyne not injured anymore he'll simply not get enough time in his best position. On the right wing Mahrez is clearly the better player too.
That part is totally wrong, he was in fact the one player that would affect games late on a regular basis. He is. I know you’re joking but I’ve never liked this scapegoating of Gundogan by City fans. He was immense v Madrid but got little praise, and yesterday he was hardly the worst of our issues. He’s an easy target to avoid asking more difficult questions, such as is Laporte as good as we think he is?If I was him, I'd cut a leg off so I became superslow, than start running away from tackles any shirking anything other than passing sideways vs any semi competent team. Will make him a shoe in for the Gundogan role.

I think he’s referring to Bernardo in his first season at City there, not Monaco, although the wording’s ambiguous. That part is totally wrong, he was in fact the one player that would affect games late on a regular basis.
I don't think he did, he followed by saying "then struggled for the most part of his first season for City".I think he’s referring to Bernardo in his first season at City there, not Monaco, although the wording’s ambiguous.
