Somewhere Angel Di Ratia is bombarding Messi; “don’t do it Leo, Manchester is a shitehole!”

Why put 100m into the best youngster in Europe, when you can bang it into a 33 year old who has never played outside of Spain.

What could go wrong.

Would be bloody superb though wouldn't it

Wonder how many days of chatting sh!Te we have until the inevitable "i stay" declaration.
I mean, it doesn’t make sense on any level. His wages, his age, the fact that he probably wouldn’t fit our system, the fact that we won’t be title contenders or CL contenders even with him.
Would be a terrible logical decision for both sides.

but as a football fan, I’d absolutely love it if it happened. Not that it will, close to zero chance.

Scary thing is , United would actually do something like that, instead of getting Sancho.

United from a few years ago would.
We won't now.

We'll just be used as bait to get Barcelona to give him an even more ill advised huge contract when he's on way too much already.

Of all the reasons to jot sign Messi, "hasn't played outside of Spain" isn't one!

If the transfer fee is low that’s affordable for us. Our issue appears to be cashflow so spreading a big fee over a 3 year contract is probably preferable than a big fee up front and 200k a week. Is it worth risking pissing everyone off and unbalancing the side for a 33 year old Messi though? My initial reaction was definitely not but...it’s Messi!
1m+ a week on a two year contract is at least 104m pounds a week in wages alone without the added sign on and agent fees.

he was just waiting for Stoke to have no chance at coming back up so he doesn't have to face the cold rainy night at stoke. Messi linking his name to United means he's in for a bigger pay raise than usual.

Imo Barcelona are trying to sell him and are using United to hike the price up.

Inter are very interested but Barcelona want Lautaro Martinez. A swap could in theory take place and Lautaro s price is known, but how to calculate Messi s transfer fee?

Do you not think a 33 year old - whoever it is, who has only played in 1 league might be a risk?

There are people that actually wouldn't want him? The best player in the World, arguably of all time, with 2 or 3 years left at the top would make us title and CL contenders.

At least everyone can stop posting "it'll never happen" in the Sancho thread for a day or 2 unti Messi surprisingly decides to stay put.

Remember that Ronaldo time when he had a made an "unchangeable" decision to leave?

A decision that then changed.

I think we'd all like it.
But we all know we're being used.

Barca arent selling him. He was given the leave free clause for a reason. If he wants to leave they save 52m! Next season.
The clause expiring was just a technicality. They were happy to have it in before.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

Which is spread over two years and still less than the up front transfer fee Sancho would cost. This is my point. The talk is we don’t have the cashflow to pay for Sancho in one hit. We wouldn’t have that issue with Messi assuming the transfer fee is low.

Barcelona can't afford to sell him to a European rival. There would be riots on the street and people going after the board and that's not an exaggeration.

If and when he leaves it will be a team outside of Europe I reckon.

900k a week he is apparently earning right now. No other club can afford that without shattering their wage structure.

Not when he's spanked every PL club he's faced in the CL unless you think the mid table dross will suddenly provide a challenge Utd, Chelsea etc couldn't

The main stories seem to actually be linking him to Man City which makes a lot more sense.

So they want to get rid and are trying to find someone ready to pay that monstrous salary

I wouldn’t think there’s people not wanting him at United. People not wanting him more than Sancho however, I’m one of those.
But it doesn’t matter, as this is clearly a big pile of BS.

Makes sense. If Messi wants to leave thats all they care about.
He isnt coming but imagine Messi comes to us and nobody ever gets to see him live in a United shirt..

As crazy as this sounds I'd take Sancho over him, English (so used to the weather), young and has friends in the team already. Moot point obviously because this is never happening.

Man Utd are not trying to sign Lionel Messi. Complete non-starter for about a million different reasons. Don’t bother clicking on the stories. If you encourage them, they’ll keep doing it. #MUFC
Right. Because apart from this nonsense rumour, everything else is very reliable in transfer news world during silly season.

There's a sketchy account saying we're interested, and one saying we're not.

We all know we're not.

I had a strange feeling about this whilst reading Nietsche on the toilet the other day. The last time that happened I correctly predicted my girlfriend making me clean the car. This is written in stone.

131 thousand people follow Agent Edward and 306 thousand people follow Indykalia. There’s a lot of gullible, desperate clowns out there.
Surely this guy would take the "it's on" deal if he's just a BS merchant though.

Hope AWB is getting a good rest. He’s going to be a very busy man playing with Pogba and Messi on that right side! I’ve just watched a YouTube compilation, I’m all in on the Messi train now
Yeah I've heard this Messi guy is pretty decent too.
