I honestly hope we don't sign him, especially at 33. I have seen enough of Messi in my lifetime without being a Barcelona fan to enjoy his magic and outrageous skills but at his age, playing with 10 men half the game isn't going to be much fun to watch.

Regardless, this is all in an attempt to topple the powers that be at Barce. He will stay.

People are strange. We are talking about the best and greatest player ever - and I have forever been a Ronaldo-fan. Do you really think he’ll tarnish his reputation by playing for a smaller, rather insignificant club like Internazionale? Feed balls to Lukaku? Playing for a nutcase like Conte? It will be PSG because Paris is a magnificent city like Barcelona and they can pay him. Or City, because of Pep Guardiola and their team, linking up with de Bruyne. Again, they can pay him a lot. United? Yeah, I’m pretty sure Messi don’t want to play for Solskjær and a team that finished 30+ points behind in the league last season. Or he’ll stay at Barcelona, but this is his last chance, hiring Koeman was a dreadful decision for team morale.

Better yet, he should just retire and never let people have the chance to criticize his decline. These guys love to play though, life after football can be disasterous.

Not sure why but I'm bored of this one already. If I wasn't so against betting I'd bet my house on him staying at Barca.

I think he's a complete pr*ck for what he's doing as well. Player power gone crazy.

I reckon the gods of football will frown upon this and he will forever play like he did against Bayern in that semi-final.

If I'm reading correctly he wants to leave on a free. His contract specifically allowed him to do so, but because of Covid-19 the deadline has passed. Any decent club would extend the deadline in such a case.

Based on what I'm reading from Barca supporters, they all seem to blame the board, not Messi.

Just a typical Messi sulk. Happens every time the going gets rough. Done it for Argentina plenty of times. He'll stay.
This. Nobody can/will take him at the wages he would want, and he wont risk his legacy by leaving Barcelona to play anywhere else semi competitive.

The only option i could see is the MLS or some random country he happens to like.

Staying at Barcelona.

He wants to leave but financially it's impossible. No club can afford the fee and his wages.

He'll go next year on a free transfer somewhere probably when contract is up.

Imagine if Juve could somehow swing it and paired up Messi & Ronaldo. Even at their advanced ages, that would be incredible.

I can definitely see PSG as a realistic destination.

Linking up with Neymar and being able to score 100 goals a season at age 33? Done deal.

Messi has always maintained Bielsa is one of the best coaches in the world and he'd love to play under him.

Imagine the scenes if he ends up at Leeds.

But yeah he's likely not leaving barca.

I voted PSG too but I'd bet Neymar would be pissed. Waited so long to get out of Messi's shadow and Messi's like nope, I'm here again.

Maybe Barca will swap Neymar for Messi + 80m. Suarez is leaving so someone needs to play in his role.

Nah, i think Neymar and Messi are proper pals. Neymar was desperate to rejoin Barca and Messi last year but PSG said nope.

Erm, yes they can. PSG & City can ask him to name his wage, especially after the farce of that CAS decision.
And they’ll be no transfer fee obviously, he wants to terminate.
True the owners have the money if they really wanted to do a deal, don't see anyone going for it in current circumstances though. FFP still exists and could cause problems.

Maybe if Barcelona let him go for free now or if a club swap players for him. Bartomeu won't want let him go for free easily for his own legacy if nothing else.

Could be quite interesting thinking about it. If he really wants to go can drop his salary so clubs can afford him. Then it's open season. Legal battle with Barcelona not in anyone's interest.

He'll go PSG I think.

Can't see him returning back to Argentina...they can't afford his £1m a week wages. He needs one final pay day.

If he stays at Barcelona he will ruin his legacy. The whole business is run to accommodate him.. its toxic for everyone.

If I was Messi I would go to United. Traditional big club, always play attacking football, great competition in a difficult league. Always win trophies. No Brainer. Him going to City or PSG would be the ultimate modern football fail.

City and PSG would be boring "obvious" choices. United would be so much more spectacular.

We've not won a trophy in three years.

Honestly don't want Messi at the point. It would be a mess I see it now. Typical thing Ed would do as well. I really think he will stay at Barca

Traditionally we do is what I meant. Realistically, pretty much any top team landing Messi would be massive favourites on all platforms.

I meant in the sense that he’s likely just holding the club and president to ransom in order to affect the club at the highest level.

It’s a disgrace when you think about it.

Exactly. The only reason he is leaving is because he doesn't see himself winning any trophies at Barca in the near future. Yet people think that he will agree to join us. He will either join PSG or City if he moves. Most likely he will stay where he is and get a nice fat pay hike.

I heard the Barcelona president was forced to resign which has been going around, so I think he'll stay now, this was the little dictators one last dance.
