Are we even seriously linked with anyone right now? Every bit of reporting on Utd has gone dead only for the odd 'Sancho deal is further away' posts. There doesn't seem to be any movement anywhere.
The only player we aren’t linked with is Malang Sarr.

Be nice if he mentioned the fact they still had money from the sales of Hazard & Morata but there you go
I mean the club is a shambles though right? The fact is, they love to brag about how we can do things no other club can do, we are supposed to be one of the richest clubs in the world, a few months under Covid though and suddenly we are poor as hell and can't afford any transfers? That's either a business that's been run so poorly that it cannot afford to invest after just a couple of months of fans not turning up, or It's absolute bull, sorry but it is.

Oh yeah there is no doubt that the club is an absolute shitshow and now Phil Brown comes out with that tweet to compound misery around the place

If that's true, I really do think we can count out any major signings. Which is worrying, as we're not exactly known for smart, shrewd business. I think it's a very big possibility we take one step forward and two steps back again, dropping out of the top 4 next season. Probably unfortunate but it will lead to Ole's dismissal too, I feel

Hoping another Greenwood type situation reveals itself next season because I'm certainly not expecting anything major in this window.

God the thought of us relying on youth again while seeing Messi banging them in for City makes me sick to my stomach

Well there is a reason why we plough millions upon millions into our youth set-up and scouting. We obviously take alot of interest and pride in that area of the club, for good reason too.
I like how our youth set-up isn;t just for show like some clubs out there *cough* City.

It doesn’t mean we won’t sign one big signing.

Yeah I get that but still need to bring in three players each summer to keep the current squad on their toes

Saying they have to be cautious due to the current circumstances and as they're unsure of how it may impact future revenue is a far cry from their briefs before the window opened about 'taking advantage of the pandemic' etc. Seems like back peddling to me. I don't see us making an expensive marquee signing.

There is good signings to be made if we're smart about it ala Thiago, Partey, Roca etc. but I'm not holding my breath. Those aren't the type of signings we are usually able to identify or make work.

I'd be happy to be wrong though, but with a few weeks until the season begins and barely any credible links to anyone, I'm not so sure.

Even Everton are signing Doucoure and what looks like James Rodriguez, we're actually going to sign less players than Everton

Hell even Arsenal can afford players apparently, but we have to be cautious? God I can't wait until these owners... I can't type anymore, it will get be permanently banned.

I’m not really sure how you can translate that into something that is suitable to used against my argument. We have players that we can sell and clubs are interested to sign them which can be added to our transfer budget.

Given the fact that we walked away from 27m pounds centre back Gabriel means very possible that we are focusing on one very big singing. Even if it’s just our only signing but it’s still a big signing and improvement to the squad.

Where did this line come from exactly ?
The only relation I've seen is from Gary Neville blabbering on Sky Sports and I wouldn't trust his opinion on these matters as anything other than utter delusion and one based on little to no substantial evidence.

What makes you think it’s very unlikely?
The fact it hasn't already happened, that it seems we have zero intention of paying anywhere near what Dortmund want, multiple sources, including Woodward himself apparently, saying Covid will stop us spending big.

Is there some reason you think it will happen?

Apart from potentially Smalling, I'm seeing no progress in regards to any of those players being sold. I also don't think walking away from a player is indication of another potential signing. If both the signings weren't independent of eachother and the marquee signing was happening, you'd think we wouldn't have even pursued Gabriel in the first place, assuming that's as far as our budget stretched.

As I said, I really do hope I'm wrong, but this whole pandemic just seems like a very easy out for the Glazers.

All this bad news recently and we still haven't even seen a quick brief saying that we're "preparing a bid" for someone or the dreaded "searching for a DOF", things really must be quiet at the club
That's because they used to that to appease the fans. They must have now realised they don't need to do that because the fans have no balls and will keep eating whatever dross they throw at them.

Sigh. Chelsea flashing the cash with media darling Lampard under little scrutiny; City probably signing Messi; Utd being cautious as we're skint.

It's going to be one of those seasons, isn't it. Rinse and repeat.

So, who do we see Woodward going for as manager next summer? Conte?

Sigh.

Are all of the posters here supporters of Manchester United? Because it seems to me that some are just transfer window junkies. Drama queens all around begging for a whiff of transfer news and having meltdowns when the club hasn't signed anyone. Pathetic.

This is the new normal guys. As long as the Glazers are in charge, our ambitions are CL football and earning just enough so our owners get their dividends.

We stopped being a football club the minute Fergie retired.

We were already a business back then, but Fergie kept us competitive.

The state of affairs nowadays has been years in the making. I'm 35 this year and I reckon I'd be at least 50 the next time United wins the league.

We're going the way of Liverpool in the 90s. There's still a long way to go.

They really got under my skin in a big way back in the summer of 2009 when they took that Ronaldo money and used it to service their debt

God I wish Woody, Judge and those yankee leeches would just feck off there and leave us in peace
Yeah the only way I could see United returning to former glory is if they leave.
Look at Bayern, that is what happens when a club of that size is run by actual football people who want to see the club succeed and not business people who dont give two fecks about success on the pitch.
