We now have 6 midfielders for 3 places

6 Matic/Fred
8 Pogba/McTominay
10 Fernandes/Van De Beek

They're a multifunctional bunch and adding a BTec KDB in VDB isn't anything to be sniffed at.

Now we need to add the Left Back, Centre Back and Right Winger.

That’s not what I said. Continues, as in, being a hero for making the occasional signing seems to make people forget the absolute shit show he’s presided over for 7 years. He’s finally signed a player, well done, he’s done the bare minimum required
So we shouldn’t be happy about the club signing a player because our CEO had been shite over the last seven years or so. Woodward gets a lot of grief on here and rightly so but when he gets it right i think he should be applauded for it too.

Love it. I’ve wanted him since the first time I saw him during their CL run. Liked him and Ziyech more than De Jong.

Yes people can be happy. Never said or intimated they couldn’t. It will take a lot more than that for me to start applauding Ed Woodward for doing the bare minimum though. That’s all I’ve said. Before Woodward I don’t think our CEO would even have been mentioned when we signed players. Probably because it wasn’t a big fecking shock that we achieved what every club in football achieves from time to time.

He's already got the knack of scoring away to Spurs and Chelsea so there's two things in his favour already :smirk:

We can complain while the biggest club in Britain continues to underperform under his tenure. Signing the occasional player we need is the bare minimum required. But no, he couldn’t be doing better, break out the champagne because he finally signed one player. Here’s to 7 more years.
But he doesn't choose the players we sign? We arent where we are because Ed is choosing Maguire over Laporte. Thats not his job.

I've been watching Donny for years now. He's a typical Ajax number 8/10. A guy that has a lot of depth in his game and knows how to run behind the enemy defense. He scores 10-15 goals a season. For years now we play with a system where we make room for a players like Donny. Before we had Siem de Jong, Then Klassen and now Donny.
Donny is better than Klaassen and Siem de Jong. Donny has a very functional technique and can contribute in the build up in the game. He is very focused every time hes gets the ball. The challenge for United is to find a position for him in the midfield where he will function optimal. Where he can make the meters in the depth behind enemy lines. You need to balance your midfield with a strong 6 and a creative player next to Donny. You need to create an "Ajax like" midfield. That is gonna be a challenge.
Thanks. Sounds like he could play in Pogba's position with Bruno and Matic. And an upgrade over Fred as he scores 10-15 goals a season (atleast in the #8 position). Or alternatively he could play in the place of Bruno as #10 with Pogba providing more creative outlet alongside him.

His face looks like someone tried to draw Bastian Schweinsteiger from memory.

Since appointing Ole as interim manager, I don't think Woodward has done much wrong. People point to wasted time for Maguire or not getting Bruno in the summer but we don't know the ins and outs of that, we just always believe whatever the worst news report is. To me, he's hired a manager that understands the club and has so far made far more astute signings for Manchester United than he did in the previous years, all while keeping up with his usual commercial savvy. I am unhappy with what he's done since SAF left but I am willing to give him this second chance.

Super happy with Donny. He'll be one of our players of the season next year and we'll love him like Bruno. That's my guess.

Really like the player, but currently wouldn't get in our first team so seems a bit odd.
How is it odd? We need to rotate or as we all witnessed at the end of this season our best players end up dead on their feet playing ever game. VDB provides much needed quality cover.

Empty the bank on Sancho. Give Tuanzebe and Fosu-Mensah a shot to take down Lindelof. Give Ethan Laird at shot to cover for Shaw -- if that is, we're prepared to give up on Williams (and I see no reason why we should).
