They have to be stocking up some money surely. They're being successful and have a good following, haven't spent a lot recently. They managed to break records to sign VVD and I wouldn't be surprised if they cash in on an older Mane or Salah eventually.
Impossible to stack money with the pandemic. United who has a significantly higher revenue (and profits) lost money last quarter, probably Liverpool lost more. They are skint, and there is no way they will pay 100m for Sancho while making him top earner when he isn’t guaranteed a starting place (both Salah and Mane are currently better and reportedly on lower salaries than Sancho would ask).

City might be a problem, Real and PSG too. Liverpool, not so much.

I wouldn't be surprised that Herr Klopp has instructed his bum chums at Dortmund to do all they can to stall and obstruct our efforts to sign Sancho this season.. I've a feeling Mane or Salah will leave next season meaning Herr Klopp will have the funds to buy him at a reduced mates rates to what we've been quoted..:mad:
Business is business. They won’t lose 10-20m (selling him cheaper) just cause they’re friends with Klopp. These things do not happen in real world.

There won’t be a normalcy of the economy by next season. It will likely be better than now, but the stadiums would be operating (at best case) with 10-20% capacity. Even if the vaccines start early on next year, the entire process won’t be finished before summer. And while the clubs might project normal revenues for 2021-2022 seasons, the next season will be difficult and clubs will lose money. Accumulated losses for 2 years means that there won’t be much money to spent even if the worst will be over by then.

Can't be getting him next year, even if it's Carragher just guessing here. You just know we will face stiff competition if we don't buy him this summer.
Unless Liverpool sell Wijnaldum for 100 million to Barcelona that's never happening. Pool are skint

Indeed. The opportunity fell in our lap this time to sign such a talented player.
We miss it, God knows when we'll have it again.

To be fair though after not spending much for 2 years surely they will have big money in their 3rd year to spend.

So they lost more money in the last 6 months than they made/ saved in the previous 18 months, or will save in the next 12 months? If that's the case then we might see them go bust soon enough!

And if that's the case, Dortmund are in trouble too and will sell Sancho far cheaper as a result. If Liverpool are so severely hit then we aren't so much better off that they can't sign anyone yet we can spend hundreds of million. So basically you can rule this signing out for us for at least 2 years too.

The truth is at 120 million, we are expecting him to become a top 10 player in the world with us. Atletico's took the risk with Joao felix, Barca with dembele and PSG's with mbappe. I think we are in a really good spot with Greenwood coming through, but my assumption is that he will compete with and eventually take martial spot. I would be fine with us investing in a cheaper option to supplement Greenwood there for now given the price. I would also be fine with signing him, but it's not a do or die situation like the press is making it out to be.

If Chelsea can sign Ziyech for 40m, we can find a player who can play in that role for much less. Whether as a starter, competition for Greenwood or a back up for Greenwood. Our key issue has been depth in attack. Van De Beek sorted some of that, but one more attacker would make us very consistent in attack. It's been our main weakness over the years and I think even with simply a good player, people would be surprised how consistent that would make us

I'm not saying they won't spend 120 million in one season. I'm saying they aren't spending that on one player in a position that doesn't need strengthening. It's laughable to think Liverpool would spend 120 million on a right winger next year. Its simply not happening.

We reported I believe 6m pounds losses in the second quarter of this year (in the same quarter a year before we reported 20m+ profits). We also took a new 150m debt that will cover the operational costs (essentially, this is supposed to be the money we will lose during the pandemic).

Every club is going to be hit hard financially. Essentially, all the money the stadiums generated won't be there. So yes, in case, BVB needs money, I wouldn't be surprised to see them selling Sancho cheaper than what they want this year. To be fair, I believe that the clubs are going to be extra-cautious until fans return to stadiums. There is a non-trivial chance that the leagues will be suspended again, in which case, the money from other sources is going to be less too.

With regards to Liverpool, I said that likely they have lost money and are going to lose extra money until the end of the pandemic, which is why I do not see them making big purchases. When even Real Madrid, City, United, PSG and Barca are holding back from spending insane amount of money, you can expect clubs with less money being extra cautious. The only exception seems to be Chelsea who got 140m from Hazard last summer, and didn't spend any cause of the ban.

In that case we have to be prepared to miss out on an elite talent to another club. These players come about rarely and they are always in demand. It's like the decision to go Hazard or Aguero, or not.

I think we already have good fullbacks. While it would be nice to have an attacking one (or two) I don't see any available fullback like Alves who would take us up a few notches. Good fullbacks are always available whrher this summer or next. Sancho probably won't be
He is not at Hazard or Aguero level, or PSG or Juve or RM would be competing with us to sign him. I think some people think 120m is not a lot of money to pay for a player who has potential to reach elite level such as Hazard or Aguero. I am just a little bit wary of these big money signings which are supposed to be the big solution. We have enough young players with stardust in Rashford, Martial, and Greenwood. Is Sancho even better than any of these three?

Unfortunately, next season his price will likely going drop as if they don't sell next season, he will only have 1 year left in his contract. Might not be dropped drastically but you'll expect the value to be reachable and I don't see why can't Liverpool will try to invest on new toy on the front three department when their current ones are the ones closed to 30s.

He is actually very comparable with Hazard when he joined Chelsea. Probably the second/third best young talent in the world (Hazard was arguably second to Neymar, Sancho is probably just behind Mbappe and possibly Felix), having had a good and a great season in a top 5 league. He is costing 4 times more though, and while prices have increased since then, not sure they have increased this much.

Aguero is a bit different IMO. he was already the real deal, not just a top talent.

I don't like the idea of splashing big money on some players. However, this is where people always forgot where the value comes from. It's simply can be due to investment not just his current level. 20 years old means he can offer 11 years of contribution up to 31 years old, it's like spending 10m pounds transfer fees per season for top player with potential of ballon dor nomination. Although it's up to the club now whether they will invest or no.

Sancho isn't just a talent, he's already one of the best forwards in the game. His output is ridiculous for his age, bettered only by Messi iirc

You know what day it is?

Fkin Sunday.

Its also Countdown-to-Sancho-being-announced-Day.

From this day forth the amount of time between today and when he signs shall only decrease.

Sorry Revan, you’re a top poster but saying that Sancho is possibly behind Felix is one of the most bizarre opinions I’ve seen on this forum.

Everything Sancho has shown is very clearly better than Felix; whether you want to use stats or the good old eye test. And to me it’s not even close. What do you base that opinion on?

Guys I tell u the truth. Im from Germany and have watched most of the matches of Dortmund.

In his 1st Season Sancho was so immense , I thought he was another De bruyne. He took Defenders for Fun and nutmegged so many players and showed so Many Skills. He was easily a 100m+ player

The Second Season was good statistics wise but his performance were not good at all. He can't take Defenders that easily anymore , surprisely he lost speed and is distracted by his hobbies( Every 3rd day Hair Cut for example). He was in the Bench quite often at Dortmund.

We don't know if it's an Coaching Error or his real Potential. Stay absolutely away when the Price is 100M

3rd day haircuts

I actually think that Sancho is quite better than Felix and definitely progressed a lot last season compared to Felix who had a mixed season with a couple of bad injuries. I think though, that until last season, Felix was considered better, and had won the most recent Golden Boy (though Sancho will likely win it this year).

Nah Sancho has always been rated ahead of Felix. Joao Felix was a promising youngster but not that well known until Atletico paid his release clause. Sancho in 18/19 had a brilliant season better than any Joao Felix had in a bigger league in bigger games, and then progressed to being truly world class this past season. Joao Felix is still just a promising youngster that took a big move probably a bit too soon for an insane amount of money considering his level.

Sancho is 2nd to Mbappe in the world for any young player. Theyre both already world class players. He's one of a very short list that got 20+ goals and 20+ assists last season, and all this at only 20. Some of us might disagree with potential or whatever else, but the reality is that Sancho has proven to be a better player than any of our 3 guys til now.

I really really dislike this. Every top league footballer alive gets a haircut almost every week this whole thing about haircuts and players being distracted by them is fecking bizarre and ridiculous. It's like saying players should stop cutting toenails often because its distracting from their football.
Please stop saying this. Their is no basis in reality for this

I do not disagree with this, just said how I had the feeling on whom was more highly rated. I think that Sancho was always the better player, and thought that he is second only to Mbappe from the players of around that age.

Your conclusion is emotionally clouded.

Below, @Revan explains in an educational way why the risk is greater that the price drops instead of increase due to Pandemic. This is exactly how Borussia Dortmund want you to think so that we supporters and the media will create hysteria around a young promising player.

I could totally see us buying him next year for that price. It would the most Woodward-y thing Woodward has ever done.
actually the "most woodward-y" thing he could do is claim sancho is too expensive, run to Madrid on deadline day because he wants a big name signing, take bale on a loan with a mandatory buy clause, pay the full wages for a season, bale is shit and we get lumped with some huge transfer fee for a dud.

The frustration would be more to do with how much groundwork has been done to make this deal happen including getting CL football only for it to potentially go down the drain at a point of strength(being in a one horse race). Even if we got a "cheaper" decent alternative our summer will still be severely underwhelming and the reputation on the club being incompetent in trying to close down deals will only continue growing and growing. It won`t paint a good picture that one of the most valuable clubs in the world with all our resources prove incapable of signing one of the best talents in the world just to settle for someone "lesser" and adding Sancho to the list that contains Ronaldinho, Shearer, Aguero, Hazard, Kroos etc of top players we should have gotten but missed out on and it would be even more severe if he joined a rival team.
As for the front 3 I feel we are all pinning too much expectation on Greenwood his talent is immense no doubt but he is simply not a RW by trade but a ST he`s just doing a job there but he needs to seriously polish up his game especially his playmaking if he is to be a "Salah" or "Mahrez" type of player plus he`s still not ready to start 50-60 games a season for us under the pressure of being the main man for Utd. Its best for his development if he`s a rotational player for another season under no pressure as we develop him for what he is(a ST) than what he is not(a RW)

It's definitely not Woodward dragging his heels. I don't really know where this narrative is coming from. You don't think he'd love to splash €120m on Sancho and have a big announcement?

He's probably waiting on the Glazers to give the go ahead.

Not sure why people are slamming his performance for England. It was nothing special obviously, but it wasn't a bad performance; just average. I wouldn't have subbed him if I was Southgate.

Scandalous this is dragging on so long. We need a RW, so either pay the price for this one, or get someone else in. Jesus christ season starts soon
