The rumours surrounding the deal are too frequent to ignore. If we are moving on that the club should have the decency to say so.

Also let's stop hiding behind covid. That didn't stop others from making the transfers they need

If we sign Regulon/Telles, Torres, Brooks and Pukki then I'd be satisfied.

Being upset about this not happening is like having a tantrum on Christmas day because your parents didn't sell the house to get you that present you wanted. Anyone outraged needs to have a word with themselves.

As long as we do sign two or three more players all should be well.
I will never blame a club for not spending 120m on a player.
What I do have a problem with, however, is the complete lack of planning and shocking approach.
In a way, the Sancho transfer is the most straight-forward one ever. You have a player that wants to come, you have a club that is willing to sell, they even quote you their price. So, since you know your budget, you either pay up and get your player or you don’t and move on.
And if you have moved on, nobody would have blamed the club imo.
If the German media is right and Dortmund were never going to sell past their deadline, we’ve just spent the past month negotiating with a player that’s not even going to come, instead of actually looking for alternatives.
If this doesn’t go through and we actually panic on deadline day and go for a Brooks or a Bale then we will look like a bunch of wankers (yet again).

If this is to happen then I cannot understand for the life of me why it takes so long to get anything sorted - if recent suggestions that we have now agreed terms with the player and his agent - after 2 months then that just shows what kind of dynamic transfer negotiators we have....

I’d love to see an Amazon documentary that follows our transfer team/negotiators/Judge for a season to show how they operate - reckon it would be one of the best comedy series since fools and horses!

It's probably going like this.

BD - Price is 120m eur guaranteed
Ed - Ok we will give you 70m now 10m next year, 10m the year after PLUS - 10M if Lingard wins balon d'or, 10M if Jones plays 30 league games next season, 10M if Greenwood can keep his d*ck in his pants for the year
BD - Price is 120m eur guranteed
Ed- We just offered you that, what more do you want

There are rumors of Joao Felix being considered as an alternative for Sancho. Now I don't think there's much truth to it. However, just wanted to check what would people on the caf think if Felix came in Sancho. We need a RW and Felix isn't really one. He would be a phenomenal SS for us. How would that alter our formation? Discuss

Is Sancho really worth the sort of figure being banded around? Surly a top class centreback is our priority

Pukki?
imagine spending the summer going after Sancho and ending up with Pukki- he has found his level, upper championship or bottom of the premiership.

Would anyone take a window of VDB, Thiago, Reguilon and one of Bale/Perisic on a one year loan if Sancho`s deal doesn`t materialize? We`d at least have sorted out the LB/DM positions plus solid depth in attack while having a stop gap attacker which will give us a cushion as we assess in a year if Sancho is worth going back for or if we should permanently sign a back up RW if Greenwood has another break out season.
That would be a good window imo. I dont think Sancho is happening and wouldnt be surprised if VDB is the only signing, with the shitty owners of the club. We should have had all our transfer business done before we kick off next weekend.

Between club and Country he scored 18 goals in 44 matches last season including goals vs City, Liverpool and Chelsea. He would be a way better backup/option then Josh King and Ighalo. It would also mean that Greenwood would be playing as RW with Brooks as his cover

They don't. This number pops up every so often and it is nonsensical every single time. He makes significantly less than that, however I don't know from the top of my head what his wages were raised to with his contract extension.
If the more reliable sources were to be believed (I remember reading a piece by Wessling about this topic) he shoud be in the 6-7 Mil. € per year range (that is the well earner bracket of Dortmund), so 100-110k pounds per week. There have appearantly been talks with Sanchos camp in this Spring to offer him a new maximum length contract until 2025 which would have raised him to the top earner bracket alongside Hummels and Reus (10 Mil € per year or around 170k pounds per week), which was declined. This contract would have obviously not inlcuded a gentlemans agreement like the current one (120 Mil.€ with a specified endpoint in time to activate), an agreement that was practically confirmed by the club via Röckenhaus in the beginning of August.

To be fair, it's quite simple for the club to put out a statement wanting to be careful during these times and not spend money. The confusing statements and leaks coming out from the club are not designed to stop the rumours.

Cheers, thanks for backing me up with some more detailed numbers. €6-7m would have been my estimation but I didn't want to post specific numbers without checking any sources myself.

Haha - yes and one side not willing to sell.....some see that as deal almost done!
You really believed that? I know Woodward looks like an idiot, but to spend months negotiating fees and wages when he already know Dortmund won’t sell...? I hope he’s smarter than that. Same thing about the Dortmund needing replacement arguement. I’m sure they already decided what they need and informed United about the conditions. So it’s either that everything is fine and only the fee should be agreed or United are playing some wicked games with the fans briefing it’s on when there’s no chance.

  Can you not see the difference between a player like Sancho, and players like Brooks and Pukki?
