Time to splash the full 120m I guess. We will look like fools and BVB will have a lot to laugh at but better than nothing.
We're long past simply the looking stage at this point I'm afraid, the perception has become our reality

I said weeks ago we should have just seriously considered walking away. There are other ways to strengthen. Hate how we have these stupid sagas every summer that overshadows everything.

After today's game dortumd should add another 10m onto the price and make total mugs out of utd and Ed. After that performance they will know we are desperate for better players. Joke of a club. Pissing about when it comes to every transfer and generally over paying. And then it comes to selling players.. We can't seem too. And extending contract, another failure we seem to repeat. Matic 3 yrs. Jones one foot out the door with 6months left on old contract.. We extend. We are run by a shower of clowns. Need more football men involved like Munich. Depressing season ahead I reckon
Such as?

If I were Sancho & knew I was going to be backed by the Chuckle Brothers v3 I’d be asking for a kings ransom; our midfield & attack have no margin for error; play badly for 45/60 minutes & we’ll be a goal down minimum.

"Sacrificing" the opening game of the season to make a point about recruitment is a mind-boggingly stupid approach for a manager to take.
It's a mind-boggingly stupid opinion that Solskjaer sacrificed today.

If I were Sancho, I'd avoid us too.
That's the risk we're taking in delaying signings until the season has begun and we expose ourselves :D

On the flip side, many players might think they could easily improve us

And this would be exactly the mentality I'd want here. So hopefully your version is truer than mine.

All summer people have been asking 'why haven't we got him yet'.

Tonight I'm wondering what the hell is he thinking wanting to come here in the first place? Even with Sancho there's no major titles coming to us under Woodward and the parasites. And under Ole too most likely.

Taking our desires away for a second he'd be mad to join us. Crazy even. We a lot more missing than him to get back to to the top.

Are you suggesting Ole wanted us to lose that game?

We clearly need someone like him to boost our goal threat but we also need better defenders. After the display we showed today, if the club are willing to spend the money on Sancho, I rather them spend it on multiple players for LB, CB, and RW. I really think the chances of that happening are far greater than spending it all on Sancho too.

The worry is, Sancho would immediately improve the attack but we’re going into games a goal down the way we’re defending currently.

Sancho or whoever we stumble across in the coming weeks won’t fix our CBs & GK deficiencies.

Sancho looked so happy at helping Haaland score and the other goals on the highlights, thats another reason I cant see this deal happening.

It's the globality of it man (sorry, always wanted to use that Jose English). A more balanced attack, with better outlets, will ease pressure on our defense and help move the midfield further up.

But yes, we very much do need a centre half who is a bona fide centre half with pace and good under pressure.

I think you're reading too much into this.
Not at all. If he really wanted to come he should put a transfer request in like everyone else who really wants to move to another team. The fact he doesnt rock the boat makes me think does he want to come to utd or just come back to England.

I think if players put in transfer requests they forgo a contractual bonus. So he would get less money.

But being happy when you score or assist is not a sign of not wanting to move. I didn't see Thiago looking all displeased at Bayern even though he'd decided on a move.

This transfer request business is as big an urban myth on here as transfers paying for themselves by shirt sales I swear

Also why put in a request and risk making things incredibly awkward for him at his current club when we haven't even put a fecking bid in yet??

The much referenced Dembele request only happened after Dortmund rejected bids from Barcelona, we've yet to do feck all in that regard

Well done united for dragging this out where we are now in a weaker bargaining position after today's awful loss.

Did you expect him to look sad or angry or disappointed after his assist? I don’t like his most recent insta posts but it’s normal to look happy when the team is winning. And he only saw our result after their game, maybe he’s crying now for his new team.

Globality, love it.

I was of the same mindset but since Project Restart I can’t say it’s been the case of a futile attack & the defence giving in under pressure; we concede goals like today, the Bournemouth game, Sevilla where it’s simply horrendous errors.

A more balanced attack would lead to more goals of course but since OgS’s magical initial run we concede some terrible chances.

Agreed. Our goals conceded last season is a deceptive stat. I can't say I've often felt confident in our defense during matches. But that also extends to midfield and having a very imbalanced way of attacking.

Most people are overlapping in their assessments, whether we desperately need 2 players or 5.

Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est.
The Guardian writers read the forum:
Last weekend, a small but significant part of Manchester United’s online fanbase got themselves extremely excited by a new Instagram Story posted by their on-off transfer target, the Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

Over recent years, the increasingly feverish fetishisation of transfer gossip has been mirrored in the growth of an army of amateur online detectives who scour the social media posts of footballers – and often their partners and families – for even the vaguest hint they may be on the move. Planes are tracked across the North Sea. Isn’t that row of elms the same as the one outside Arsenal’s training ground? If I’m not mistaken, that broken grit box is from the A560, which is how you’d get from Manchester airport to Carrington if the M56 is gridlocked. And so on.

Here, Sancho had posted a picture of himself standing outside a park. But which park? Zoom right into the background, and tied to the park gates you’ll see a laminated notice bearing the logo of a local council. Zoom in even further, and it looks uncannily similar to the logo of Tower Hamlets. Stop the presses: Sancho is in London! Where United have an office! He’s signing! Maybe even in time for the Crystal Palace game next weekend!

Yeah. Even if we pull this off, it's been managed so poorly and the club loses out on so much extra such a signing would have bought.

Get him in a few weeks before season starts, and you can unveil the transfer and peacock the size of the fee, huge buzz for fans, and some time for the players to get acquainted at the club.

We sign him now and just look like reactive fools, no time to enjoy the buzz of a new signing, poor player has zero time to adjust, and has massive pressure on him to save our start of the season.
