Too many fair weather players like Martial/Pogba and many players with big egos in the team. Even you bring in quality reinforcements, Pogba/Martial will sulk if they dont play.
No proper Manager choices and proper player recruitment over the years.

We all know how the game has changed when Matic replaced SMT against same palace team in July, yet we didnt recruit a proper DM who is the KEY to any team, with out a proper DM/CD it is useless to have attacking players. On top of this we have players at FB positions who limits our attacking play so even we put Sancho on right wing he struggle with AWB as a RB.

DM / CD / LB / CF / RW

We need 5 players, at least 3 but haven't signed one for postions we are shot means owners are happy to stay things where they are.
So better we accept our fate while these owners at the helm rather putting our souls under lot of stress

At this point I would rather Solskjaer comes out and say there is not plan to buy any CBs because we trust in Axel and Mengi. That at least show we have a plan like we did for Greenwood. But a right winger in Sancho and promote Mengi. There our season sorted.

Mengi will get destroyed, there’s a reason 18 year olds don’t play regularly at centre back.Theres an awful lot of defensive craft he needs to learn before he’s anywhere near ready. Not sure when he became a starting option as we have numerous centre backs ahead of him. Silly season in the Caf after 1 game as Lindelof had a mare, just typical.

I am not saying he should be playing regularly? Those centre backs ahead of him I only rate Axel (Maguire obviously not in the conversation). But we need to be playing both Axel and Mengi more often than we should instead of relying on Bailey and Lindelof.

And I am not sure what your point is. This is the transfer thread. Your point doesn't suit here unless you are saying we need to buy CB? Then are you knee jerking after 1 game Lindelof had a mare. I am confused as to where you stand to be honest.

Yes I can see you’re confused, a player who can’t stay fit and an 18 year old as viable options to partner Maguire. No kneejerking from me, Lindelof is a starter until we develop, sign a replacement or make turn 1 of our 3 sick notes into a reliable option.

Assuming Sancho either can't be signed or would blow the budget, I'd like to see the following:
Sarr / Peresic RW, Jovic as a striker who would give us another dimension, a LB (Telles' stats look good but never seen him so not sure if any good, and a new CB who is strong and quick (expect this would be the toughest signing but surely there is someone around who fits the bill). A DM is also needed but think this would put us well over budget so would have to wait.
Yeah there is no doubt we could do with a DM & ST too but don't expect movement on the first one until next summer and maybe the second one in January.

I rather the third option then. Use Axel as the first starter (we are not going to win the league this season anyway) and use Mengi and Bailey as the backup. I am not a big fan of Bailey but if Axel does get an injury long term then Bailey with be the first. Mengi can cover if they are out for a few games here and there. If both have long term injuries then I guess Lindelof? Actually I may still want to give Mengi a run out and see if we can get any decent players in January.

Bin Lindelof, I'm sorry. He has way to go to redeem himself and I can't see it. If he is no better than the youngsters then I see no point wasting precious game time with him. We are not going to move forward with him.

Always worth remembering that only Burnley have both spent less and brought in less players then we have this summer.

Not true bro, see below.

West Ham, Burnley and United have all brought in 1 player. While we're 9th highest on money spent. We're basically on par with the financially crippled Arsenal.

What I meant is that only Burnley have either spent less then we have OR brought in less then we have... as in everyone else has done either one of those two things. I could have made life easier and just talked about players brought in, but it's fair to acknowledge the sort of clubs that have outspent/spent as much as us so far.

Granted I forgot about West Ham, but Moyes was spouting off the other day how they're wanting to bring 3 or 4 in, where as we've not really had the same sort of talk from the club. Still, we're currently level pegging with those two.

Also nevermind Arsenal, we've currently spent almost exactly the same as Mike Ashley's Newcastle!!

Thing is it's not really about money spent, If our scouts got off their arses and found us three £10m gems that would improve our squad I'd be chuffed with that alone.

I always think "net spent" is a more meaningful figure. That's how i would look at my expense anyway. Expense - Income = net expense.

In hindsight, we really should have done everything to get Haaland - a proper centre forward. A front rotating three of Haaland, Martial and Rashford with Bruno and Pogba would be lethal.
I'm sure Ole couldn't promise him that he'd be a starter and I'm not sure why. Martial is great but he's not a striker.

I am absolutely in disbelief of the fact that the window closes in 2 weeks,, we lost our first game and we have only signed one back up midfielder. Absolute joke of a window so far.

apologies mate didn't mean to be a prick earlier.

I took huge positives from last season and don't feel ready to rip it all up today, as disappointing as that game was. still, I share a lot of fans feeling that it could be a tough season for us, and frustrated that it didn't have to be like that, with 3 signings we could have built on last season, maybe got 5-10 more points in the league and kept trying to improve into the following season. just doesn't feel like that now does it, all feels so negative.
Agreed. No (permanent!) offence taken

yes. said at the time we should go all out for him (meaning even player swap deal if necessary). And if Ole couldn't see he should have been a starter, he's even less a Manchester United manager than I fear

last time we were on similar position at least we sign 3 players (lulz) the main thing is that we are miles behind everything.
BVB's CEO cleared again the position of the club about Jadon, so IF we are going to sign him (and thats a big IF) the price will remain at 120.
Same mistake with Maguire, Bruno Fernandez etc.

Imagine if the rumours about almost completing the transfer back in july are true.

You already know why. We all do. We've got the worst owners and board in the world. They've no idea what they're doing. We're just a business to the Glazers they could care less if we win anything as long as we are in and around the CL their numbers are fine.

Every day that goes by the more toxic it is becoming and the more desperate we become.

Poor planning, poor negotiating and worst of all, poor use of the media.

We do not have a centre forward, a target man, someone to hold up the ball and compete in the box aerially. Jiminez? Dzeko ? Feck me id take danny ings now.

We need an imposing quick centre back if we are going to play 4-4-2..Umpeceano surely we can get this guy done, he can leave for 42m euro next summer.

Finally a flair player who can carry the ball and commit players, watching Traore for wolves last night, surely he must be a gettable option?

Long week 0r so ahead

imagine the fuzz and toxicity if we go for Adama and accept the sancho failure.
(Wolves will ask 60-70 at least) + ( they sold adama's back up 45 to the scousers)

I really do not understand why Ed puts himself in the firing line to look like a complete tool every transfer window.......

Why does he not try and manage the supporters expectations at the outset? If he had come out with something along the lines of Due to Covid/finances etc etc we are going to be prudent and we will not be spending much then at least the supporters have an idea of what is going on - instead there is complete silence from the management and this just lets the rumour mill go into overdrive - we’ve seen that the likes of Madrid and Barcelona are not spending and that is pretty well documented - their fans don’t like it but it then stops them being linked to every Tom dick and Harry - while we have said nothing, done nothing and are made to look like headless chickens while our rivals are strengthening all around us - the Sancho pursuit is just another very poorly managed drama where we have said nothing and it’s just been down to BvB to keep saying he’s not going......if we did sign him late on, which we won’t, everyone will still he baffled as to why wait all window to do it?

There is no late discount with Sancho, all that’s happened is they’ve made them selves look incompetent and hindered Ole rather than help...it just adds extra pressure onto the team so unnecessarily

It's mad that Arsenal have signed 4 players and spent roughly the same amount. They have made some very smart signings like Cebellas on another season loan and Willian on a free transfer considering their financial situation. We wouldn't know an intelligent signing if it slapped us in the face.

VDB looks a great signing, but there has to be ways we can add more quality to this team without spending huge amounts of money (and even then, we SHOULD be able to afford to spend that money in the first place).

Not even a dof article? What is going on?
A dof article has the same variety as a CRonaldo "cOmInG HoMe" article or Mbappe to United article.
Lets face it , the same trinity Glazzers-Woodward-Judge will run the club as long as they want.

and thats the pain we all need to face.

The Telles deal will drag on all week before we get it over the line then we’ll panic buy someone like Douglas Costa just before deadline day. Congratulations Ole! Here’s your reward for finishing 3rd.

At the end of last season, everyone in here was convinced that securing CL was key because it meant we would become a more attractive prospect and CL revenue would mean a nice sum of cash in the bank. Instead we get this fecking travesty of a window. Meanwhile Chelsea who is our closes competitor have spent north of 200 million on strengthening their squad. Its fecking sickening
