Renewing his deal for one year is Barca protecting their investment IMO which makes sense. I would expect us to have a buy option tbh with you.
Yeah i totally get it from Barca's side. But it's stupid from us to just want a simple loan, with no incentive if he does well. He has the potential to be just as good, if not better than Sancho after all.

We could end up turning him back into a £100m+ player for Barca. That's a dumb deal by us.

If this happens I want nothing said about Castles ever again. The guy has genuine information and his podcast is a good source.

Off all the players we are associated with signing (sancho excluded) this is the one that excites me the most

Dembele on loan would be a better option than the likes of Sarr, Brooks or more likely...nobody.

Also next year we will have the option of buying Dembele/going again for Sancho. Rather than comitting to a player who is not as good as Sancho.

Potentially a good deal.
How? He is potentially a £100m+ player. His value is at his lowest now. A simple loan with no buy option at the end if he does well is the dumbest deal ever by us.

That's a great deal for Barca, not us.

Sounds painful. When did this happen?
This was his first injury, probably explains a lot, people have said that his injuries are down to Barca, I would expect this kind of injury to cause anyone issues ongoing.

If we can get him on a season long loan with no obligation to buy then I'd be very happy. Dembele is one of my favourite players to watch but there are huge question marks over his fitness and his professionalism. If he gets injured, then Greenwood is still a great option on the right, plus he can cover the left flank if Rashford is injured or out of form. His injury record is worrying but I have faith in our current front 3 and we'll have plenty of depth especially with Cavani coming in as well.

In a year's time we'll know more about all of our forward players + Sancho and can restrategise our transfer targets for next summer.

Would much rather him than Sarr. Get him on a loan with an option to buy and no harm done.

It's the best we can hope for this late.

Of course they are.

They wanted to sell for 40m.

Even a loan is not bad. We get him for 1 year. Dembele gets to play before euros, barca can potentially get a good fee in future. We can go back for Sancho again plus we will have a new young winger in amad from January so his injury problem can be covered. Really hope we get a cb today although it is unlikely.

Indeed. After Sancho, he has always been the most obvious choice. No other young wingers come close to them. For all of his troubles at Barca, I think it’s very worth remembering the good he’s done there too. He’s had plenty good games there, and spells of some terrific form.

Wait. I'm confused, does this mean that there's no pre agreed price if we want to buy him after the loan is over?

This sounds terrible - it sounds like he actually shouldn't play football anymore

Lets look at the bright side, remember not long ago, he is the 2nd best young player in the world, just slightly behind Mbappe...
His playing style also kinda resembles Ronaldo - fast, direct and unstoppable.
And good news is, he is only 23.

As I said yesterday, if this deal goes ahead, pay close attention to the difference in the coverage Spurs’ loan of Bale got and this one will get.

Castles has said we only want a one year loan with no buy option at the end. Barca wanted to sell, but will agree if he renews his contract with them before leaving.

It's a terrible deal for us if we agree to that.

He will never cost + £100m. If he does well, I’m sure we will make the move permanent regardless of a clause or not.

Haha love how glass is half empty most of you are.

First you are moaning about his injuries, video games or whatever but now that Barca might be thinking hey loan deal works out what I see here is people being like oh no thats so dumb his value is low, if he catches fire Barca gonna sell him for 100 million.
Like....just pick your lane and stick to it.

As for me, I am a high risk high reward person anyway so I love a deal like this so Dembele works. I want this to happen.

This whole saga is like that Vince Mcmahon gif (why can't you post gifs anymore)

"Barca dont want a loan"
"Barca pondering the idea of a loan"
Barca warming to the idea of a loan"
Barca ecstatic about the idea of a loan"

What? Barca paid €105 million for him... They want €40 million now apparently. If he performs well, how much do you think they will want for him then? They might decide he is not for sale too don't forget.
