How (can) does Miami build a Championship winning team?

Also curious what you guys think Warriors can do in the trade market

Either trade away some of these bit pieces for another star or just wait and sign a big free agent. They'll go hard for Giannis.

Not a Heat fan but that was a depressing end, I feel for them. Reminded me of a late-Wenger Champions League exit for Arsenal.

And feck McGee, Dwight and co on the Lakers bench. Ludicrously annoying watching their shit while the game is on.

I agree, even though I wanted Lakers to win it, it was not a fitting end for the Heat who have been nothing short of fantastic this post-season. In hindsight, the series ending after that epic game 5 would have been a great end for both the teams, especially knowing there was very less chance of Lakers dropping two more games after that. Heat were understandably exhausted as well as short on player fitness, and it would have been a lot to expect another similar performance from them. Big props to the way they played, I think they were the best team to watch and should do well going forward.

When does the new season start?
They were hoping for a Christmas restart but Silver said at the end of September that a January start is more likely right now.

Can't see how that wouldn't affect the Olympics at the end of July, but they'll find a way to work around it I guess.

They'll just send non-play off team players/rookies to the Olympics?

I guess the priority will be for them, not to mess with the 21/22 season. This will have to a short season anyway.

The above would make sense yeah but maybe a few top players would also wanna go for a(nother) Olympic medal.

And dunno, Silver reiterated that he wanted a full 82-game season for next year. I guess we'll also have to see how corona develops - the NFL is showing that it's gonna be very hard to maintain a normal season if they get outside of their bubble anyway.

Wanted Miami to make that great comeback, but their attack was in shambles last night due to fatigue. Congrats to the Lakers though, dominated the last match and deserved winners all in all.

They will need to upgrade on that backcourt, otherwise a good defence can shut down the paint and make their attack ineffective just like last night..

Realistically I'd say March next year to be honest. Or even later. They won't do another bubble, it will have to be in actual arenas with teams traveling around so it's up to covid.

LeBron is just something else. Tore a Achilles before this season and came back from that looking like this.. That at 35 years of age. He is without a doubt on of the all time greats or even the greatest who knows. As a long time Laker fan I am truly delighted to have him with the franchise. It will give us a competitive team as long as he is there.

Unless I was living under a rock back then, that didn't happen though? He missed a large part of last season with a groin injury but that's nothing compared to coming back from a torn achilles.

Absolutely right it was a ACL he tore.

No, just a groin injury.
Ok he did miss the rest of the season 2018-19 right?
Well that de-escalated quickly.

Maybe he got it mixed up with KD, who's recovering from a torn achilles. They're notoriously hard to come back from though. Bryant had the same injury back in 2012. Cousins never returned to his pre-injury level after doing his. John Wall neither so far. Billups, Elton Brand, Rudy Gay, Wesley Matthews, ... It's a brutal injury.

Was just thinking who would people have from the current NBA taking that final shot Danny Green did in Game 5. Basically who's the best man to take a championship clinching catch and shoot 3. I'd probably go for Durant, with that high point of release he's a banker on an open 3. Curry would be a great choice but he did brick a couple of important shots back in 2016, or so I seem to remember which is slightly off-putting. Luka seems to be putting himself in that category as well and I think we will see him giving those kinda buzzer beaters - which he has already a few times - in the coming seasons. Only other guy I considered was Dame.

Robert Horry - in the past.
Right now, Curry.

All I can say is - thank feck the Yankees lost. Given 90% of fans of one support the other(Lakers). Would of been an unbearable time

Though I actually don't mind the Lakers truly - mostly due to the colourway, but their fans, naaah. LeGOAT though, even if he's not if your mind, he's basically done everything he can at this point to cement himself right there above anyone else but Jordan comfortably.... the day someone casually drops Kareem or some shit again, they trollin'

Kareem. :D

I am old enough to have seen him play live from way up in the Forum rafters. Not saying he is better than LeBron, but definitely top 5 and worthy of a bit more respect. Young Kareem would have dominated the current NBA .

Never seen him play. But looking at the stats I wonder why he’s not regarded that highly? He rarely even gets mentioned when talking about the goat.

I think because he wasn't flashy, especially in his later years. In my opinion he is the greatest college player ever and tied with, or slightly ahead of, Russell for greatest NBA center ever.

I actually have him as number 3 in goat conversation and I think a lot of people have him in their top 3 as well.

I dont think any team can beat Lakers' all time greats.

Cap, Worthy, Bron, Kobe, Magic.

Bench: Shaq, AD, Pau, logo, Wilt, Baylor, Rondo

Odd thing to say given he's heavily been number 2 until LeBron started to chip away at him.... a small minority would still have him as their number 1 to be silly, but they are allowed their voice.
