Come on, give credit where its due, he has turned Tottenham around.

They were 12th when he took over last season. Not only did he take them up to 6th, but he has now built on that even further and has turned them into a very dangerous team with some great depth.
Honestly one has to be delusional to not think Mourinho isn't a good manager now. He's just not as top as he was during the 2004-2010 period, but can still do a job, just to a lesser degree than what he's used.

Given I don't truly believe we can win the title this year I'd love for Spurs to win it if we can't. Not only would it mean neither City Liverpool or Chelsea win it but it would also be a huge F U to Woodward from Jose.

Obviously I'm hoping Ole can pull off a miracle and we win it against all the odds but I'm firmly behind Spurs if we don't.

People get carried away easily
They’ve had 2 great games but it is a long old season
Win our game in hand and we are only a point behind
I agree it's a long season. Only three weeks ago everyone thought Liverpool were clear and no one would stop them.

Spurs's run in during winter is tough. And whatever Mourinho says Thursday-Sunday routine will put them at a disadvantage. But they definitely should win a trophy this season.

Those facts you state are true. They did finish in those positions. But, the foundations were laid there for many seasons under Poch. This team hasn't had a complete revamp under Jose and they still haven't achieved anything under Jose. They may do, but I'm finding this all very premature. Kane and Son have been playing well for ages now, this didn't just magically start when Jose turned up.

Think Jose may well have his next title winning team. If we can’t win it, I’d be delighted for him if he can win. He’s a figure that people like to be horrible to, and it’s very easy to do that from a device and it’s just become easy and trendy to target him. By all accounts, he seems like a very nice man, and I’d be happy for him to stick two fingers up at his detractors, just on a human level.

His team have little to no weaknesses now from back to front, and have better depth than they have had in many years too. If they find themselves in a position where it is within sight and Jose can smell it come spring, I think people had better watch out.

They won’t win the league.
Nobody knows yet who will win the league, it's not May yet. But if I were to put my money on any one team, that would have to be Spurs. Both defensively and in attack they have impressed me the most so far.

It's definitely better than our squad under him by a country mile but no way better than his team when he won the title with Chelsea last time.
I remember being one of the only ones arguing Spurs had a better team than us under Poch. Obviously Poch was a 'miracle worker' so people didn't like that, if Spurs finish above us we'll hear claims they've got a better squad suddenly.

People opinions on a squad seem to be mainly dictated by how much or little credit they want to give a manager.

Their squad under Poch was much better than us in probably every position in terms of main lineup, but lacked a little bit in depth.

I also think Poch's team was better than their current one in midfield and defense. Attack didn't change much though.

Spurs are not winning the league

Although, their results just shows how important the transfer window was to close that gap. Top 4 won't be easy this year as they are top 4 contenders easy. It's going to be a long season competing with Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and maybe Everton for only the 2 positions.

No, but every manager usually starts off with some good players left behind. Last season, they had zero depth: N'Dombele had massive fitness issues; their sub-wing-backs now were their first team wingbacks last season; Eriksen is gone, and he has turned helped turn N'Dombele into a player who actually tries; Moura incredibly inconsistent; no backup striker at all; Vertonghen is gone; Winks and Sissoko were the first-team midfielders together. So, there were a whole lot of issues to fix before they could even dream of playing like this.

Kane and Son are a great place to start, though.

To be fair this Spurs team is likeable to me. It's the fans that do my head in.
Agreed. I'm against the idea of Spurs winning the league solely because the number of Spurs fans I know who think they're hot sh*t would be even more unbearable than usual. Can't put my finger on what it is exactly, but there's a thick air of smugness about the fanbase that drives me up the wall.

That's like saying Jose laid the foundations for Ole. Ole and Jose both had to pick up teams in disastrous positions.

I don’t think many people disputed it a couple of years back when they still had Dembele, Alderweireld and Vertonghen who were in their prime as was Erikson. Even Alli was playing well.

I wouldn’t draw too many parallels with this Jose team though. He had us looking good in spurts. Let’s see what they look like in 2 months time.

Think people are getting carried away by the idea of Spurs winning the league. Top 4 would be a decent campaign for them.
Not at all. City and Liverpool are having problems with injuries and form plus Spurs are not playing in CL. They have depth, quality and look lethal.
Of course, they look like that now. Who knows what will happen in a month or two

Because we wouldn’t give him what he wanted and he has the personality of a spoilt child.

Both parties fecked up basically.
Because the mgmt didn't want to support him, and the players found that they could ignore him, and the fans preferred to support the non-performing mgmt and players. So he went elsewhere, where it looks like the mgmt supports and the players listen.

He has Gareth Bale sitting on the bench mate.. Chelsea 2014 had more balance in the squad, but attacking wise Jose's spurs are deadly. Even Costa would struggle to start in this team.

From the BBC
  • Son and Kane have combined for 28 Premier League goals in total, the fourth-most of any combination in the competition's history. Lampard/Drogba 36, Henry/Pires 29, Silva/Aguero 29.
You'll have to imagine they'll break that record this season... Hell at this rate they'll do so by next week.

I remember people laughing at suggestions Leicester would win the league.
and I remember what happened to spurs that year! In all seriousness though, unless ACL is infectious, Liverpool are still miles ahead in both player and coach.
