the sentiment I do agree with is that there will certainly be no more freak defeats this season: squad is now fit and has good depth all over the pitch.

If Ole and team can get to international break without losing or only one loss, then we are in a very good place for the season.

I believe we have a much more competitive squad this year than last, we won't be knocked out by a couple of injuries and we'll even be able to rest players without resorting to options who simply aren't good enough to play at this level. Investing in depth rather than star power, I believe it was a sound decision. Downside to this though, the pressure is now on as there are no excuses not to mount a serious challenge, and at the very least we should look like a thoroughly solidified top-four side throughout this campaign.

So far however, our current regime has delivered everything I expected and I'm hopeful they'll keep it up. The next couple of matches will tell us a lot in that regard, and either way, for the first time in years, I'm super-excited about this team.

We are fecking Manchester United and we are going to win the league this year and we will show everyone who we are vs Chelsea later today.
Ole has already shown that true great management spirit by dropping Green wood and Pogba for valid reasons. All you opposing fans get ready to really hate us again and all you "so called" United fans unhappy with management get ready to feel unhappy because we are about to be successful again.

Yeah they are inconsistent too but they are playing like a Jose 2nd season team.

I'd have them as underdog favourites over us.

This thread wasnt highlighting us as title winners, more that we would be competing for it - I don't really see many clubs having a 20 point lead between positions 1 & 3 on the table like it was the last couple years and can see clubs like us, Tottenham, maybe even Everton all scrambling around the recent winners feeling like they still have a small chance of winning the thing when it comes to January etc

Everyones dropping points and having issues in defense. After 5 games, City have conceded 8 and Liverpool 13. It took Liverpool 15 league games to concede their 13th goal last season.

It's going to be another weird season, I wouldn't be shocked if it's really tight come Christmas and a team like Leicester or Everton are near the top. European football with this schedule is going to hurt the top teams imo. As for United, we have the potential to go on a good run, but we need our defense to wake up and be much stronger than it has been to do it.

But the fact remains that we have scored 7 pts from 5 matches. That's terrible.

5 games in, the bar between high points and and low points isnt that different.

It means nothing. It’s how you finish not how you start. We were mid table or outside the top 4 in 08/09 near the Christmas and we won the league. We smashed Chelsea 3-0, Arsenal 8-2 in 11/12 beginning of the season and we lost the league and got knocked out in CL group stage to Europa league.

Our last three games have been positive and we can build from that, be confidence and more positive with it that it feels like we won’t lose a game to anyone.
