Begs the question; are Leipzig that bad or are United that inconsistent?
They played right into our hands with a crazy high line... and it was still anyone's game for 70 minutes when their suicidally attacking subs opened up huge spaces. It was literally the perfect game for Solskjaer's United.

You can have thousands of good men. If your officer sucks it's useless.
If your officer sucks one of the good men will take charge. Your anology only works if people aren't able to think for themselves.

Pogba offers nothing defensively in these games. We're essentially defending with 10 men. We look so much more vulnerable when we lose the ball and our shape suffers because of it. I'm a fan of Pogs but I'm seriously doubting now if he has a role with us anymore. He's a complete liability when we're up against it, especially a high press.

Matic, our only DM who can comfortably pass forward through the press is left on the bench. Bizarre stuff. McTominay wasn't up to it today.

Ole said before the game we'll play the United way - did we fk. Takes off our best attackers in Greenwood and Bruno. Arteta must've been delighted with himself. I have faith in Ole but some real head scratcher decisions before and during the game there.

A very bad result as we all know. We were too defensive and we looked nervous from kick off on. To get beaten by a team as limited going forward as Arsenal is bloody frustrating.
Do you think Ole told the team to go out there, be careful, be nervous and play poorly?

Guess today's result just goes to show how important is.

Leipzig pressed us just like Arsenal did, but against Leipzig we had a guy who could take the ball under pressure and pass through the lines.

Surely we have to find a replacement for him next summer as a top priority.

Play Fred as a box to box as he did like Leipzig and he will play better. Put him as the DM and he cannot play. Before the match I said I do not think this is a good starting line up and I was right unfortunately. Ole did not know how to change the system when we all can see that it was not working.

Maybe the most frustrating thing is that although we were so so bad, the game was still easily salvageable up until the pen. VDB and Cavani needed to come on earlier but instead we waited until the game turned against us to make the changes, why? I'm so fed up of every manager we have taking too long to make subs, what part of that 2nd half performance suggested the game was going well and we should leave it as it is?

Would have made sense to sub Cavani on for Pogba and move Rashford out to the left. VDB could have come on for Mctominay or Fred also.

Has any manager ever told his team to play badly? Because plenty of teams have played badly before and it’s always the manager who gets the blame. That’s the way this works.
I'm wondering at what point the players are remotely responsible for what goes on on the pitch? It's like they're all protected coddled children who are in no way responsible for what happens.

Pogba is killing this team. Got Jose sacked and will get Ole sacked too at this rate.

I’m firmly “Team Souness” at this point. I don’t think Pogba is even a football player, should be one of those freestylers or get into Futsal or something. One of the least effective “footballers” ive ever seen

We have faced two sides in spurs and arsenal that had to deal with playing on a Thursday night before playing us on the weekend and both have beaten us and looked more for up it the games as well.

Sorry but ole has run out of excuses now for flopping over and over again.

Arsenal aren't very good. If we showed up at all we would have beaten them.
you're looking through top red glasses, they're still a bit away from being where they used to be, but they're better than us in every department.

My view on the game is flip-flopping between two viewpoints.

On the one hand, it’s tempting to be negative. This Arsenal side are very average but very well coached and did exactly the job they were set up to do. I said at HT they would only score from a mistake and they got it. We now have 7 pts from 18 which is depressing.

However, I also think we didn’t play as badly as was made out. Football is a game of fine margins and without the error I couldn’t see Arsenal scoring. The diamond didn’t work in the first half and played into Arsenal’s hands but the 2nd half was all Utd, bar that t**t giving away his 3rd penalty in four home games. We looked far more comfortable in a 4-2-3-1 and I think we would have won the game had we played this way (without Pogba) from the start

I honestly still don’t think we’re that far off. We need a world class forward and we need to boot Pogba out ASAP. We can’t hav these nonsense shape changes every week to accommodate our worst player. Fix those two things and I think we’re challengers

wow.
You watched a different game than us?

Arsenal were for once really good. Pressed United all over the pitch and were easily the better team for 70 minutes. Only at the end when they started sitting back they were shaky.

but to say they were the most negative and utter embarrassment to football... what the feck
Funnily enough, I watched the same game as you. It was woeful. 90 minutes of my life wasted. With both teams playing their part in a piss poor spectacle. Can only remember one keeper making a save. Disgraceful lack of attacking football on display. Fergie and Wenger must find it excruciating to see these two clubs serve up such a shit show.

At least United played badly. What was Arsenal’s excuse?

Belgian's main sports outlet just headlined the website: 'Theatre of nightmares'. Seems about right at the moment.

How can there be such a difference in 2 games, couple of days apart? We know the players should be good enough. We've seen them do it. Complacency? Lack of fitness? Lack of interest? Lack of coaching? There were so many misplaced passes. At some point there were 4-5 misplaced passes in just a few minutes time. Fred, Greenwood, Bruno...

I just don't get it. Being a Utd fan has been such a rollercoaster of emotions last couple of years. I think the title race will be very close this year, between 3-4 teams. I honestly think we are already out.

To be honest mate I’m bringing some much needed irony/sarcasm/maybe even genuine blind optimism to the absolute state that is this matchday thread. It’s the genuine kneejerkers who need to grow up. Fickle RAWK-esque nonsense.

- Pogba has to go , or play as a striker far away from the box

- Leipzig game cost us alot , players were visibly drained mentally and physically, while Arsenal rested most of their squad

- OGS way to slow to make changes when something isnt working

- Greenwood is too light to play as a split striker, we are hurting from Martials suspension.

- If this form continues I hope we are buying Sancho in Jan

- We still cant «reset» after beeing on a high

Well I don't think I am being knee-jerk. I just have my view on football, and I am applying it.

Loser mentality running through this squad, they know they can bottle it and then just waltz into training on Monday with no consequences.

But when the squad doesn't have many good players what can we expect? Diamond with worst attacking fullbacks in the league is never gonna work!

Arsenal actually rotated their entire squad against Dundalk, so cheers for bringing that up. Our midfield looked leggy in the second half, we couldn't keep up with their pressing.

One step forward two steps back. We look invincible in the CL yet can’t string 2 passes together in the prem.

Not sure what’s going on with our home form but it’s becoming a huge problem, if we want to challenge for anything we need to be winning our home games.

Big difference in meeting PSG and Leipzig than whatever C-grade team they were meeting

Seven subs used by both teams and the worst player was still on the pitch

This team can't manage high expectation. it's starting from the manager.

Once we're underdog, we perform better. It's very small team mentality.

They really aren't at all.

What basis do you have for saying that? We were poor and it was an even game with them creating very little.
