It depends what the club want. If it wants a stable manager who will win stuff and won't complain that we should get Ancelotti. The guy has seen enough crap at Milan, Chelsea and Napoli not to raise his head too much. If we want a reformer then someone like Rangnick would do. I'd offer him 2 years as manager then a kick upstairs as a DOF. Whoever comes in must be ready to work with a DOF. Actually I think we should hire a DOF prior to sacking Ole. We cant have managers spending ridiculous money on sub standard targets mainly because its fit their ego

Should have been the caretaker when Mourinho was fired, don’t think we can take the risk now after Ole with him being out of work so long.
The scary thing about the Caretaker is that there's a possibility we may end up giving him the job fulltime.

We are not getting Ancelotti. We are not getting Rose, Nagelsmann and Hassenhutl.

All these managers have clubs and we have a CEO who barely can sign players yet people expect him to get the most important person at a club.

I also don’t trust this idiot to go down the caretaker router because he’d probably rush into another decision. I can see him hiring Blanc as caretaker and repeating the same shit after a few good results.

The likely candidates are Potch and Allegri. Both are available and no compensation to pay.

First, he was a world class Manager who demanded respect, professionalism, sacrifice and performance. Ole is a journeyman at best.

Second, he had a leadership group consisting of players like Giggs, Scholes, Rooney, Rio, Vidic and Evra. Ole has players like Maguire, Pogba, Martial and Shaw.
Yep but he lacks your first point which is the main problem. He’s not world class hence why we are doing non world class things. Like 15th in the table.

Exactly the thread title should be Next Manager: Poch or Allegri

He was a genius and if you remember he was lied to and let down and had to defend the owners with lies about no value in the market.

We won't get another Fergie. No club ever will.
But he won with bad owners right?

So good managers can win with bad owners? Abit like lower level managers to Fergie like Jose and LVG won?

Wake up. It’s not even a hard maths equation

Do we think Pochettino would do a caretaker role until the end of the season? I would imagine not but if we can do that, then do so. Then use the next few months between now and say February and March to do a whole restructure and actually appoint this much talked about but never appearing DOF. Move Ed to corporate only- this would be the 4th managerial appointment he's messed up, surely the severance packages we keep having to pay if nothing else would perhaps cause him to finally be held to account?!

Then appoint a full time manager, having consulted with the DOF. Implement an actual plan and style of play that fits with this. If Pochettino has been doing well, we see an exciting style of play, the players actually look coached then OK fine, appoint him.

I don't watch other games just United so not sure who I would get but I want someone dynamic who implements new exciting methods of play and who the players run through brick walls for. Someone who takes players forward not backwards while continuing our proud tradition of including academy players. I am NOT saying he's good enough but I was impressed watching the Leeds documentary by Bielsa, attacking exciting football though id want better defending, plus he gets after the players and doesn't let them doss about but they would run through walls for him. A better version of that with better defending.

Ole definitely needs to go he's out of his depth and we are going backwards. Badly.

The other factor we need to have on our radar is Liverpool, although its a couple of years down the line, and also City, will be potentially succession planning. Do we want them getting the best managers out there again? No. Will however, the absolute top drawer managers want to come into this set up?

I’d happily take Rogers, think he gets a lot of stick but he always gets his teams playing good football and makes players play better.

From the Prem I’d also take a look at Hussenhatl, the Saints are playing great football and he bounced back very well from their 9-0 battering. I always thought Poch did well with Spurs and they played some good stuff for a while, had a bad last season though so don’t want another Jose on our hands.

In terms of abroad Nagglesman is always mentioned but I haven’t seen too much off Leipzig and to be honest if you lose 5-0 to use you can’t be that good haha.

Just as long as we don’t go with any ex players, if we get Giggs in again I’ll go spare!
I agree Id happily take Rogers. He could have achieved the same as Klopp but wasnt given the time. Hes ex Liverpool but he would shake some things up and has a great track record of bringing players through.

Willing to throw away yet another season  it's like people want to go 30 years without a title like Liverpool. We need to stop backing people out of their depth, Ole isn't the one.
Our current situation is just the level of most of our players, why are fans surprised?

I hope it's not Pochettino. I think he's a very good manager but it would be one of the most boring choices out there. And quite frankly, I'm done with Manchester United being boring.

Manchester United need to be the club that plays the best, most attacking and most entertaining football in English football. When I tune into our games I want to feel like there is a good chance we're going to thump our opponents, rather than grind a win out. I'm tired of us being the most boring football club in Manchester and playing inferior football to our biggest rivals. Pochettino will just cement the club's position as that, despite how good of a coach/manager he is.

He's also a bit too good for us to sink to the levels we have under our last 4 managers but not good enough to take us where we need to be. And with our fanbases cult like devotion to the managers job, it'll be hard to remove him when he gets us 3rd/4th for the 5th season in a row.
Right now we aren't doing any of that, and there isn't many managers that play this way anymore either.

Modern managers want to play with control mixed with pressing and fast counter attacks. Klopps Liverpool are hardly boring are they? all I want is for our team to be drilled similarly to them. We look like an amateur outfit compared.

All this "man united way" is dead and buried in the modern game.

Whoever comes in next, we should take the opportunity to make wholesale changes to the backroom/coaching staff too and also bring in a DOF at the same time. A massive shift in the way we do things is needed, especially the coaching/tactics side, also while we are at it re-look at the whole scouting network maybe with the DOF being heavily involved in that. For years many other lesser clubs have been finding diamonds in the transfer market while we are scratching around in the mud, only to sign someone who is a past it, former great player on deadline day to appease some fans. Most fans see through this utter garbage. Big changes needed, not just with the manager.

It really isn't. They've repeatedly shown they're good enough to beat good teams, we've beaten everybody apart form Liverpool and done really well in Europe last season.

What we lack is a modern way of playing and a coach that knows how to get the best out of our team.

Ole's idea of football is get the ball forward ASAP and try to get a shot away at goal - no wonder we look so frantic and lack any control when we play. We play every minute like it's the 90th and that's just not the way to win consitently.

De Gea- Past his best but still one of the best GKs ITW and his back up Henderson was one of the best GKs in the league last season
Maguire- Hasn`t lived up to his price tage but still our best defender and a top 5 PL CB in form. He was still a top CB at Leicester which is why even City wanted him needs a better partner
AWB- One of the best 1v1 fullbacks in the world. Can get better going forward but still 22 with lots of room for growth
Telles- The best attacking LB in the Portuguese league(where we signed Bruno from) regarded as the best LB in Porto`s history and a Brazilian international
Bruno- He`s been one of the most in form midfielders ITW since joining Utd and was still producing world class numbers at Sporting. Also a Portuguese international alongside CR7, Joao Felix, Bernado Silva etc with a trophy to his name
VDB- Was a key midfielder for Ajax when they had that ridiculous CL campaign alongside big names like Ziyech, De Ligt, De Jong etc a Dutch International and was subject of interest from Real Madrid
Greenwood- One of the few teenagers in PL history alongside Rooney, Owen Shearer etc to hit 10 plus PL goals in their first season and scored 17 in total playing from the RW
Martial and Rashford- Both had the best seasons of their careers last season hitting 20+ goals and 10+ assists with both about to enter their prime years despite them being out for 2-3 months each with injuries (I haven`t mentioned Pogba because he`s not worth the hype and not a stylistic fit for this team regardless of who the manager is)
On top of that you still have promising kids like Diallo, Elanga, Pellistri and Mejbri coming through and players like Lindelof, Axel, Shaw, Fred, McTominay, Cavani(once he settles in) and Dalot(when he`s back from loan) would be solid squad players for most top 6 teams
The only people who believe the level of players in our squad is bad are those with red tainted glasses

I think it's about time for this. So, who do you want to take over from Solskjaer?

The bar isn't very high, to be honest. At this point, I would almost accept anyone who has made their team actually play as a team.

The managers who have actually impressed me the most in the Premier League are Potter, Hassenhutl, Ancelloti, and Rodgers. I think these managers have shown the correct ability that can transfer to a club like ours, creating excellent team play out of lesser players (more so for Hassenhutl and Potter). They have shown that their players can play incisive football with a quick interplay that we are sorely lacking.

There is the obvious choice of Pochettino (who probably will takeover if Solskjaer is sacked), but I am actually leaning towards Hassenhutl.
The Thing is none of those managers will leave their clubs for the mess that is United, our Lure has been destroyed by Woodward, Glazers and the way this club has been run. The only Candidate will be Pochettino due to him being available now, no one would risk their reputation after what has happened to Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho - Serial Winners of Football who got thrown under the bus by the Board which resulted in their downfall.

I know, which is why I want Ole out. But wanting Ole doesn't mean I want Poch in.

I'm not bothered about the United way, but as a fan I am desperate to get a buzz out of watching United again. I want Manchester United being the top scoring football club in English football. Forget all the titles we won under Alex Ferguson, but in all of those years we were seldom outscored in the league. That's a big part of Manchester Uniteds identity to me.

AWB is far from good enough, Being a good tackler is not enough. Pep has always struggled with centre backs buys. Maguire is not good enough, Shaw not good enough. Top teams use fullbacks that can get more than 1-2 assist every seasons. Our fullbacks kills our attack in almost every match!

Rodgers would definitely leave for Manutd; he did the same with Celtic mid-season. Ancelloti? Not really sure as he seems to be doing quite well with Everton. For others, you might be right that they wouldn't take on the job midseason, but I think they would take it.

We pay massive wages and there is no guarantee of ever getting an offer from such a big club ever again. In the end, a lot of managers will take the risk because there isn't really any choice when Manutd ask for you to be their manager.

Rodgers won't manager us for one reason - He is Ex-Liverpool Manager. I would love Rodgers think he was very close to getting Liverpool back to the top during the Fergie Era but ex liverpool managers won't come and manage United. There is too much Rivalry there, that is why there has not been a United-Liverpool Direct Transfer in decades.

Is that what he told you? He’s an opportunist, if we approached him he would leave Leicester just like he left Celtic.

Maybe but even he understands the hated rivalry between us and Liverpool. And I don't think he would risk it.

Sack Ole, appoint a new manager and then the 'process' starts again. It's sickening.

We need a proper DOF, and technical teams in place so that we're not putting all our eggs in one basket, with Ole's, or any manager's unique 'vision' for the club.

The next manager that comes in can't get 300m, two free seasons and time to turn things around again. That might seem harsh, but we don't see it at any other top club. You come in, hit the ground running and the expectation is to compete from the get go.

We can't start from a blank slate every time we change manager. It'll end up in a vicious cycle if we don't have the proper sporting directors in place.

Let's be honest it doesn't matter who the next manager is.
That’s what we all said until Fergie arrived. 26 years of shite, all sorted by one gaffer.

That’s what the scousers said until Klopp arrived. 30 years of shite there sorted by one appointment.

Stop playing down the single most important role in a successful football club @KiD MoYeS

Rodgers has shown he’s a very good manager and I’d quite like to see Rodgers come here and would have no problem with it.

In the modern game though where managers come and go, would any fan actually hold a brief spell at Liverpool against him?

Situations that aren't really comparable at all. The club is now owned by a family that have other priorities.

Thats madness. He is in over his head but he isnt as bad as someone like Steve Bruce.
There probably isn't much difference between them, it's just we have better players so overall get better results, but as a functioning team we look pretty clueless.

Ask Celtic fans about his loyalty.

Brenten would be all over it, but we won’t approach an ex Liverpool manager.

Poch. Knows the league and has the experience on the biggest stage. A hipster ala Rose or Hasenhuttl would be very risky picks.
