Btw I’m 60 on Scans waiting list. What about you @Fortitude?

Thanks @Igor Drefljak but i better stop spending now as it's gotten pretty mental with the move. Will call time on this and wait it out.

@Bojan11 83 with Overclockers and 119 with scan. Supposedly, there's an uptake in stock and a big batch will be on its way mid-November

Really liking the reviews of the new AMD CPUs. Got my eye on the 5600x.

Would the stock cooler be enough if I wanted to overclock or should I look at better coolers in that case?

Honestly the stock cooler is alright if you're on a budget and don't mind the temps and noise. If you like a silent pc though get something better. If you want to OC, get something better.

Though I'm not sure why you'd even want to OC that thing.

I was thinking down the line. But yeah no reason to OC that thing by the looks of it.

Its not just the overclocking -- the whole system has to be taken into consideration. Inadequate cooling makes your frequencies chug. Get the best case for air flow that you can whilst also considering aesthetics if you're that way inclined. Personally I like a happy medium. I also brute-force my way to respectable temperatures as I don't mind the fans doing max rpms.

In any case, the way I see it, if you're building a PC, do it properly. For example, if you were looking at review of your own pc and experts founds little niggles here and there, would you end up buying it as a pre-built system. Get 5000 series. Get a decent aio and forget about for next five years.

So I've been building a system for a while and I've been short on money like a lot of people at the minute, and also with NVIDIA RTX 3000 series fiasco, I couldn't get a card I was looking for. Long story short; -- i ended up with a lopsided system if you like. 2080ti and 10100 cpu.

I had ordered both, 10600k and 10700kf only to return them as I realised that 10850k was released, which is a 10900k in all but name for 170 quid cheaper or something ridiculous as that. Anyways, with all this indecisiveness I ended up with the lowest SKU possible.

In my defence, I've bought MSI Z490 Unify mobo which is completely gen 4 compatible and I also used gen 4 nvme. I did this in mind with Intel promising 11th gen cpu's to be gen 4 compatible, which would be complete suicide, if they don't go with it now. I also had a feeling that Intel would go balls out and cram in as much as possible into 10nm chips. Now, with incredible zen 3 performance, Intel have no choice but to be competitive, so I'll get 11th gen i9 next summer for what will be a more reasonable price I think.

This is a really long winded way of me saying that despite the disparity in cpu and gpu, I'm still getting incredible performance in gaming. I'm using a HDMI 2.0 as I'm restricted by 2080ti's lack of 2.1 connection. I've been using 4k@60 but its just not enough for me when I know I've extra 60hz leftover. So in Modern Warfare, I've set a resolution to 1440p, supersampled to 1800p on ultra rtx off -- I'm getting mostly 100-120fps. Once you see the glorious 100+ gameplay, even 60 just feels horrible. I've also been ripping console players a new one since I get paired with them as I use a controller.

All in all, get a pc guys and gals. Xbox series x, PS5 etc, its all bunch of crap. I only saw the light 2 years ago but since then I've actually broadened my knowledge in something tangible as well as started enjoying far better gaming sessions.

Absolutely. If you don't care about aesthetics you can swap all the fans for Noctua 120mm and have your pc be silent and absolutely shread performance to decibel ratio. Also Noctua has 10 year warranty and no chance of a leakage or something. Definitely worth considering.

I think they are now offering all black alternatives too.

Yeah they are, except for the 120mm fans I'm talking about. These fans are amazing and Noctua need to make them in chrome black.

Yeah, i read somewhere a while back that a few people tried to spray paint it but the performance suffered a bit. So maybe there's a reason why they stuck with those weird colors.

You reckon that November deluge is going to come in as they suggested?
Don’t think so with lockdown. So shipments will be more delayed. I do think by December you should be able to buy the 3090 from wherever you want.

Only Asus are screwing around with the 3090. They have 536 preorders for that left and 365 belong to Asus.

2642 for 3080 and 2100 for 3070. For this week they are expecting 282 new 3080 cards. Two weeks previously they been averaging 300 or so 3080 cards. That’s going to take a while to clear out preorders.

The rate they currently going it will be February. 300 cards a week isn’t going to cut it. They need 500 or 600 a week. For about a month they been claiming they going to get big amounts of stock and no sign of it. Production should ramp up, but there’s bigger chains than Scan especially in America who want their hands on the stock.

They cancelled or delayed the 3080 20GB cards, which were apparently due in December. Most likely they’d pushed them back to Jan or Feb.

Just unbelievable. 5 months after ‘launch,’ at a time when they’re rumoured to be releasing the ti’s.

I am annoyed, but all those people who sold their current card in expectancy of their 3080 arriving within a few weeks must be fuming.

I’m guessing Nvidia are too big for this shambles to do any damage to them, but really, this is the worst launch I’ve ever seen and most companies would take a serious hit to their reputation for such a stunt.

I sold my 2070s in anticipation of the 3080 but had to buy a used 2080s once it was clear that there was no stock.

Well could get mine.

Scan have 529 outstanding preorders for the 3090 and now 494 cards are going to be delivered including Asus this week.

I'm guessing there's been a spike for 2080's given the absurd waiting times - did you get yours for a decent price?

Prices are crazy inconsistent... FE cards are not available in my country and the new cards are way pricier than the MSRP... A new 3070 is close to 670 euro and 2080 supers are 700 euro...

I think they are currently milking the market and the prices will drop in 2-3 months.

£400 for a few months old card. Think it was a decent deal. I had sold my 2070s for around £325.

This was a few days post launch so people were still hopeful of getting one of the new cards. Before launch i saw many 2080Ti's go for under £500.

@Bojan11 @Fortitude A few 3090's are out in the wild, namely Palit and Zotac.

Could get those and cancel your existing orders?

Not for me. Will wait it out. Can't be spending more on cards right now.

You not getting one?
I'm very tempted but I'm going to wait until 8th of December and see how 6900XT performs and the fact that there are some on the shelves now and have been for most of the day at two different retailers is giving me confidence that I'll have no problems in getting one if 6900XT doesn't live up to the hype.

Guess the lead up to Christmas, plus the financial situation people are finding themselves in is tempering such a big outlay on a grander scale? Would've pulled the trigger myself if it was September/October.

Yeah that's absolutely true. I'm finding it hard to justify myself.

waiting for a CPU and GPU to compete my build and this is very frustrating. Wanted a 3070, no stock. wanted a 5600X, no stock and more expensive than I was expecting. Now I'm waiting for the AMD 6000 series GPUs but no doubt that'll be the same. Doubt I'll get anything for a decent price this side of February-March. it doesn't help that for my needs I'd have been happier with a 3060 or a 5600 non X but they don't exist currently. Additionally, the prices of the Rizen 5 3600 keep going up and the last generation of GPUs aren't going down at all.....

Apparently if the 6000 series card is paired with 5000 series cpu then according to amd it gets a little boost compared to it being paired with a intel cpu. Im waiting for the benchmarks.

Well it seems my PC has jacked it in. Have been debating building a new one for ages so I think this has made my decision for me.

My current one is pretty mid range as I did most of my gaming on my xbox but I am debating sacking off the new xbox and joining the dark side and commiting to a really high end PC.

Im I right in saying AMD seem to have took over from Intel for the best CPUs nowadays?

For the 5 series CPU's it's pretty cut and dried in favour of the AMD range yeah. Even in terms of single threaded game performance where they slightly lagged behind previously.

Wait until February id say then build a system for around £1500 which will be a very satisfactory experience. I can guarantee you that.

What happens in February? Just a case of getting Christmas out the way or is there something new coming?

In normal circumstances I would be fine with that but i am currently without a pc at all so could do with something sooner rather than later
