It reminds me of watching United in Europe between 93-97 and 04-07. A young, inexperienced team that has flashes of greatness but overall an incredible naivety undermining it.

But in the next couple of years at some point it's going to click.
Some positivity. Wish I had it right now. That was brutal. The near-OG at the end

Thats back line of ours is shambles and what the feck was that selfish shooting from our forwards about.

I had a Wolfsburg away under LvG vibe about this game and it fecking happened.

Bench DDG this weekend. Shaw wasn't ready for this game. When it wasn't working we shouldn't changed formation much earlier.

Disgraceful game plan by OGS and the staff. Didn't help that we didn't have Cavani or Martial to throw on. ugh. Hope he uses the kids in EL and focuses on the PL. Thursday nights will kill our PL chances for top 4 or better.
Like they did last season?

I would have rather lost 10-0 than see Pogba on the pitch...
It was a worst of both worlds choice from the 'manager'.

We had to

A. Either show that we have some standards of behaviour from our players - which we clearly haven't done in the past under Ole - and freeze him out entirely for distracting the team and disrespecting the club on the eve of such a big match.

Or

B. Accept that Pogba's a great player on his day - that him playing will be more beneficial than Matic or McTominay - and that we already have absolute dirt standards, and start him. Or at least bring him on the second we go 2-0 down.

When you see the start line up you know we're in trouble. To create from midfield it's basically bruno on his own. This team just cannot defend. As a forward you would rubbing your hands at facing them. No leadership or organisational skills. As much as I loved Ole as a player he just does not inspire me as a manager. That really was total negative and united are where they deserve to be second tier European football.

So finishing third last season meant feck all. We end up playing Europa anyway. With 66 points, that's about right. We were very lucky to get third considering how shite the rest of the league is.

W e are simply not CL quality , we are an average club who will challenge for top 4 now and again and aim for runs in the Europa cup which is now our level and has been for a while.

Nothing to see here, apparently Ole is the man!

Someone needs to put him out of his misery but does anyone at the club really care?

No point talking about the negative. We've had flashes of good play for weeks with no set system, just luckily catching up through luck, fernandes and determination.

positives:

Greenwood looked good centrally, he can clearly take a starting spot at no.9

Death of 3 at the back. We never look good playing this, we sometimes scrape a result, but usually on the backfoot. Its a formation that we don't know how to play and Ole doesn't know how to properly implement.

De Gea exposed. He's been ok this season, but I honestly feel a touch more confident with Henderson in now. We've shown a lot of respect for DDG, but his goalkeeping isn't worth 325, 000 a week.

Clear sign that we need a DM, today gave proof of that if others weren't seeing it.

Pogba's value might stay high. He came on and did a good job.

The truth is, we aren't better than we've shown in the UCL this season, capable of beating anyone, but also capable of losing to anyone. Inconsistent. We aren't poor like we've been since Fergie anymore, but we aren't there yet. Ole also exposed

Rashford at the end summed up how poor he is.
Pogba beats the defender to play a low cross in. The keeper manages to collect at the near post despite colliding with a defender and McGuire doesn’t get a certain tap in.
Where’s Rashford while that build-up is happening?
Standing flat footed just inside the box ball watching.
No attempt to move into an attacking position.
No movement, no anticipation, no desire to get into an attacking position. Nothing!

It was the same in the first half. Telles getting to the byline to put low crosses in and where are our forward pair?
One trotting around behind the play, nowhere near the box and the other doing his usual, just standing flat footed watching proceedings from his ringside seat just outside the box.

The cafe will rightly blame our defence and De Gea, but Utd are going nowhere without proper forwards and strikers, rather than the overrated, half baked bunch we’ve got.
Fans favourites escaping any blame.
There is a stark contrast between the movement of Cavani and the rest of our 'forwards' anywhere near the box

I mean most of the players and OGS deserve one another in all honesty, as they were equally inept once again tonight.

The only defence i can have for the latter is he's still learning on the job, at the highest level.

Doesn't really cut it when you're manager of Manchester United, does it?

We're bottlers when it matters, we're not an awful side and we can be great even but when it matters we're losers.

Jose had that mentality to win but everything else was lacking.

If we get Poch I feel he's the same as Ole is now, we'd be good but ultimately bottle it when it matters.

I'd keep Ole for now and assess his position in June. We have too many players in the development stage to give up on it that easily and who knows maybe tonight's bottle job strengthens them in the future.

Not entirely sure what the flip I just witnessed.
Obvious 3 at the back didn’t work. AWB had a nightmare.
I’m pro-Ole but Christ knows what the substitutions were about tonight. Why take off Telles at half time to hook Shaw ten mins later? Why did we put Axel and Timbo on when we were already 3 down? I know it was only Mata, Ighalo and Jesse on the bench but surely an attacking addition couldn’t have hurt.

I don't see Ole taking us anywhere. He has done some good things structurally at the club but he and coaching staff lack the ability to coach a team to become elite. Too inconsistent, always slow to start, defensively communication always an issue between DDG and defenders. The same mistakes keep repeating.

Might be a long time till the next CL-game. Absolutely ridiculous starting Matic and McT together in midfield. The Telles, Shaw and Williams subs made no fecking sense what so ever.

The level of entitled bullshit in this thread is ridiculous.
You are surprised? Try ask them what how much they believed in us going through when the groups first came out... Last years two CL-finalists... NOBODY here would have given us a chance in hell.. and now we almost make it, and they act like its the end of the fecking world. Pathetic.

Ole is who he is and we cannot expect more of him. He’s not elite. Time for him to on.

Tactical disaster tonight! Wrong lineup, formation and subs. Brandon, TFM and Tuanzebe were such strange subs and played horrible.

I try to ignore the fee as that isn't really his fault. It does make it worse when it hits you though.

If he had anything about himself he'd hand over the armband as a minimum.
We should cut our losses and sell him. Just admit it was a mistake and put the fee towards a better replacement.

Absolutely gutted.

Leipzig are such a nothing team, but you just can’t give away goals like we do at the moment and keep getting away with it.
Yep. Gutted is the word. Right now, Leipzig top the group with a negative goal differential. So many chances to advance and somehow they've bottled the group. The away match with Istanbul, not taking chances with PSG, the Fred sending off, the set up tonight, not taking chances, the DDG-Maguire mix up (just clear the damn ball!!!!!)...absolutely bottled it, and I imagine it leads to OGS being out. If City show up on the weekend and slam us, then it's definitely over.

A lot of emotion flying about. We lost our place loosing in Turkey And then Fred stupid stupid head butt incident and sending off cost us the PSG game. It should not have come down to an away game against a decent German team.
Tonight going 3 at the back was a mistake by ole. His detractors will shout for his head now. Our defence is just not good enough, we should not need to play 2 defensive midfielders in front of them because he doesnt trust them. Get some one in you do trust.

a bad night

I was hoping for the draw but too little too late. I still don’t think getting rid of Ole is the answer.

The 3rd goal was shambolic but I found the 1st two much more frustrating, you can’t really legislate for such a calimitous error as the kluivert goal but Angelino had threatened down the left multiple times while left unattended, and it wasn’t corrected. Even after they scored once he still had the flank to himself and afget a few more threats punished us with a 2nd. The inability to react to such an obvious danger ( like Fred’s inevitable red card) is mind blowing!

“We started slow but I thought in the second half we were magnificent, I can’t fault the lads and their efforts, I thought we played terrific in the second half, this teams still learning and it’s a process.”
I’m not Ole but that’s what he’ll say again. Poor, poor and poor in that first half but why did we pick 5 defenders?

I'm better than Messi (even though I'm not)
himself martial and Pogba to a lesser extent as he’s leaving are the EL rock we have been perishing on. Yes they could all still go up a level but none of them are currently consistent enough to win anything major and should have major competition for their places
Agreed. Pogba’s off anyway and Rashford gets a pass because he’s a local lad and a nice guy off the pitch. Martial is nowhere near good enough to lead the line for a club challenging at the top.

For as poor as United played especially defensively Uniteds 19 shots on goal, 9 on target that's the most RB had conceded for any of their home games this season and no team had possession as high as 55% this season in the Red Bull Arena.

3-1: Never a penalty in a million years.
3-2: Handball by Maguire.

Can you imagine the injustice if we'd found an equaliser? Almost came via an own goal!
It would have been absolutely hilarious if that Pogba cross found its way in at the end. Greatest shite comeback of all time.

I love how all of your positives are ultimately negatives.
