Sure but as we've seen the past couple of seasons consistency is one of our main weaknesses. We had a good spell last season and the amazing first set of games when Ole took over, but other than that we were pretty bad. Thats our cycle. So theres a high likelyhood we dont keep this up, that will be the real test of progress
Our results are fantastically consistent! Thats a false narrative.

Perhaps our performances aren't but please fund me another team with form like ours since end of lockdown.

We're occasionally at our best since Fergie, but occasionally lapse back into our Moyes nadir. We're basically summed up by those first three CL games this year.

We are not crap, there is room for improvement in defence and midfield but imagine if we had a decent pre season instead of starting the season unfit - we would almost certainly be top now.
2 quality players this window and we can push Liverpool for sure. Right wing and holding midfielder for me.
Centre half is position that is weak but i hope axel can step up there.

Thats something like 50 points out of the last possible 60 we have won against non top 6 sides.
Consistency is a myth at this stage

You're right for what it's worth but why the reactiveness? This forum is much better when it's not at war between ole inners and ole outers.
This isn’t about the manager. It is about our club/team as a whole. The narrative is exaggerated and negative, in no small part from the group that should be supporting us. I keep hearing about how inconsistent we are and not really hearing the same about City, for example, who we are above.

Last week, Neville and Tyler spent 90 mins bemused that City were not 5-0 up against a team who started the game ahead of them, and beat them 3 times last season. We’re the only top side constantly given backhanded praise and generally spoken of from the perspective of our supposed faults.

As Ole has said, we’ve been the most consistent team in the country (except Liverpool perhaps, I’d need to check as it is close) in the year 2020. Or at least since the close of the Jan window.

Our defence needs beefing up like the midfield and Ole needs to protect Bruno more because let's be real Bruno is our most important player! January transfer window has the potential to be a matter of winning the league or not. Not a knee jerk as everyone is playing on and off so it's up for grabs!

3rd, yes, but you cannot hide that

a) the club is owned by a dubious yank businessman who currently doesn't want to invest big in the club, or so it seems
b) our board is led by a guy who constantly breaks promises and who can't negotiate in the transfer windows
c) the start to the season was, once again, abysmal (a trend that started in 2018)
d) we should have qualified for the UCL Round of 16, yet we bottled it (weak mentality)

in other words, we are far from another 93-13 Empire.

Out in CL group stage, can’t win against top opposition in the league and we are supposedly great. Same flawed logic.
I might still think Ole is going to win feck nothing here but I give him credit for tonight, good win and we created a lot - though getting overly excited after a comfortable win at home against a much much inferior side is not really my cup of tea considering I’d be hiding behind a couch the moment we face a top6 team.

Let’s hope we’re not looking back at thread come March and calling it another false dawn.

Team looks exciting and credit to Ole for getting them here.

Potential for Liverpool to start pulling away though. We need to beat them at Anfield to rattle them.

We had a good game today but we need to do this in every game. We beat PSG away and beat Leipzig at home but went out of the CL.

Yeah those scant resources eh
80 m Maguire 50m Wan Bissaka however much Bruno was. 15m James.

Mere buttons mate.
Have a look what Lampards spent.

We’ve hardly overspent, Old wasn’t backed at all in the last window for a start.

We should have a top RW and another CB if Ed didn’t totally feck up our transfer window, Ole you assume would then be doing even better.

God I can’t imagine coming on here to bash our own manager after totally smashing Leeds 6-2. Bizarre.

Mourinho is having a renaissance at Spurs
Ancellotti has reinvented Everton
Hasenhuttl is a Klopp regen
Lampard has the most stacked squad of quality players in league
Pep is Pep and personally trained Arteta

Ole is a PE teacher, had the worst but unavoidable start to a season in living memory, he doesn't know patterns of play, coaching nor how to make timely substitutions and acts like a coward during games watching his 10 inch monitor.

And yet here he is, above all the managers above, 3rd in the league and unbeaten in ages, scoring goals for fun, and yet in all honesty we are still to hit our stride like the teams and managers above have done.

Just imagine what happens if Ole gets this team truly playing like his vision. What a great job he is doing.
Don't jinx all our good progress, please. Celebrate like crazy AFTER the season is over is the way to go.

Defense is shaky for sure but we do have some talent forward. We would be great if defense was a bit more solid and if Pogba was better stabilizer of the game.

Even in this win we were so shaky and we could have concdeded more. We could have scored more as well.

Yeah this is really odd, I get that PL football now is all about the brand (MOST ENTERTAINING LEAGUE IN THE WORLD) and Leeds games are entertaining but they're getting effing spanked and yet he's a tactical genius.

I don't see it and there is a reason he hasn't had any major success anywhere.

We've scored the 2nd highest amount of goals in the league. When was the last time that was the case?

And yet we spent all summer trying to buy an attacking player for £100 million or so. Imagine if we fixed our defence and had the 2nd best goalscoring record in the league. Instead we sold one of our best CBs and didnt replace him

Thats whats crap. We ended last season 3rd best. We could have pushed on, we havent.
We sold our best CB? Okay

We have been mostly consistent since Bruno has joined. We had a blip at the start because of a lack of pre-season and lack of fitness, which was a problem that most teams that played in CL/EL had at the start. Since then we have been fairly consistent.

This squad is starting to take a good shape. Just need a few more additions to really get us to the top.

I think we’ve been burnt enough times to know that whilst we are capable of some tremendous results and fight backs, we are also equally capable of not showing up when it matters.

Either way, let us appreciate and cherish each match on its own merit rather than jump to conclusions or broad assessments based on single games and performances.

At the end of the day, I’m pretty sure all of us (even Ole outers) would be ecstatic if Ole is indeed able to mastermind a legitimate turnaround of fortunes for our great club!

In all fairness, we were crap. On a great run now, but even until today we were scraping by the likes of West Ham and Sheffield.

Time to be humble and respectful of the fact that our critics had a point when we were, in fact, crap.

We are out of the CL because

1. Matic didn't realize he was the last defender
2. Martial missed an easy goal vs PSG
3. Cavani was unlucky his chip shot vs PSG didn't go in, missed by an inch
4. DeGea should have saved 1 of 3 goals by PSG and RB
5. Ole got the tactics wrong vs RB

Didn't you start the CL thread after we won the first two games ? That didn't end well and i don't see this ending well either.

You've jinxed us.

This thread should be locked and deleted asap.
nothing worse than reactionary people whether they are pro or against the manager. They will always look stupid by reacting to one result.

That said huge credit to the team and manager since going out of the CL. We’ve bounced back very well and are in a great position. Anyone with sense will hope for the best but know that the way this season is going within 3 matches it could be any team of Wolves, West Ham, Southampton, Aston Vila, Chelsea, Man City, Everton , or Tottenham sitting in 3rd

Most of the time i lurk on redcafe, but all i read and see is the hate towards Man Utd and Ole. if you cant see that we are improving under Ole, members should change they glasses. yes we not the 1999 or 2008 yet, but we need to give Ole time and be patience i believe we would get they soon.

We’re 3rd with a game in hand in the toughest league in the world and yet if all you had where quotes from the media and this forum without scorelines and points you would think we were bottom half!

It's always someone's fault that we lose. If no one makes a mistake we will win every game.
We need to attack like this every game and defend a lot better than we did today.
