So if a player has an open goal and blasts it wide, it doesn’t count? He can still be considered clinical?
Yes, thats the definition of clinical. It's often why players will sometimes shoot wide from difficult angles.

Did that happen today? My point is how clinical Liverpool are with their shots on target. United on the other hand have a habit of making goalkeepers man of the match in games.

Stats aren't your strong point either. Most shots off target can't be goals unless OGs. Will be no surprise if Liverpools 2nd goal this evening comes from their 2nd shot on target.
What are you trying to say? What if they ended the game with a 100 shots, 2 shots on target and 2 goals? Would you be calling that clinical?

People can mock allardyce all they want but he doesn’t owe it to anybody to try play any differently versus liverpool. They won 7-0 last week, it’s still 1 nil and allardyce will be gladly happy if it’s like that with 20 to go

Exactly. It’s utter, utter waffle.

It’s safe to say you’ve lost this one.

He’s just playing for the last fiver or ten minutes. Will be a perfect plan if they can get to that and then put some long ball pressure on right at the end.
there’s not much else they can do really is there, can’t go toe to toe and even if they tried just giving them a game they will get exposed.

I think this is the best way for West Brom at the moment, bottom of the table, second game for new manager and against the best team in the country, not sure what people expect
Gotta hope his plan plays out well and this ends 1-1, but what we are asking him to do is play like how the worst PL team I’ve ever seen, Sheff Utd did when they came to Anfield and lost 2-1. Keep the defensive mentality, but you know, get two upfront to at least try get you a goal as well.

Better this half though. Hope they get something but there’s about a 1% chance of that happening.

Yeah, games like this, it's perfectly sensible for a side as bad as WBA to just park the bus and muck it up. The goal should be to keep it close for the final 15 minutes, then have a go

I’ve really got my fingers crossed for that 1% :)

Where the grass is greener.
Bit weird to see people slagging Allardyce's tactics thus far, they're doing alright.

Obviously no chance West Brom could actually do a goal though. Never in a million years.

Liverpool could properly be rattled if somebody actually beats them at Anfield. Proper fear factor there at the moment.

West Brom's season won't come down to this game, but rather how they perform against the teams all around them. They've got Leeds, Arsenal, Wolves and West Ham coming up in the league, so Allardyce is just being smart and is stopping the team from getting pumped 4 or 5 nil in preparation for those games. They could play expansive, attacking football here, but getting beat by that type of scoreline would affect them mentally in those future games. They're more likely to get a result from Leeds and Arsenal than they will against Liverpool.

Don’t we all :D
Happens every season. He’ll be out for at least 6 weeks knowing him.

This has been fecking rubbish. West Brom will equalise at this rate.
Come off it mate no they won’t. Not even a jinx thing or whatever that is, WBA have 0 quality. This is a minimum 2-0 win for you lot. Just annoyed Salah wasn’t the scorer for FPL points

I was thinking 3-0 myself.

West Brom are all huff and puff with no end product unfortunately.

Cannot wait for the Liverpool dive and penalty with Carragher barely able to contain his erection live on commentary.

Is Alisson the worlds best? Or is it someone else?

How's that not a yellow for Robertson? Just blasts through the player from his blind side with no regard for his safety. Much more dangerous than whatever West Brom have been booked for.

Exactly. And now they're in a (unlikely) position where they could sneak a dirty point

I still find it really funny and awkward that Arsenal is now mentioned in such discussions.
