I think we should be stacking the midfield and make them run. They need this win more than we do, so we should capitalise on it.

Got a horrible feeling this is the game Thiago will announce himself. What happened to "nos vemos en Manchester", you prick.

Can't believe almost half the forum has voted a United win - when did they last lose at home????

Against City, we didn't really lay a glove on them going forward.

If we're to cause Liverpool problems today, we need a big game from our attacking quartet, whoever that may be.

And if we lose why won't we psychologically fall apart? Why is that something that will only happen to Liverpool? And surely if they psychologically fall apart after we beat them, what happens if they beat us? They psychologically galvanise and realise they can win the league and go on a big unbeaten run? I don't understand why the only outcome here is negative for Liverpool but we're sitting rosy no matter what.
A loss for Liverpool at home is huge; much bigger than a loss for us at Anfield. Being unbeaten at home since April 23rd, 2017, has afforded them an incredible psychological advantage going into every home game. Every game and season that passes with their record intact adds to that momentum and self-belief. A case in point would be the difference between before Arsenal's invincibles lost their first game in a season and a half and afterwards. Once that crucial loss happened to them they weren't the same.....even with the exact same set of players. Do not underestimate what this home record is for this Liverpool side.

If we lose at Anfield, we might lose some momentum, yes, but the players have experienced loss both and home and away and the defeat will be no worse than any other this season. Liverpool, by contrast, haven't tasted home defeat with this team at its peak and there's no way to know what impact a loss could have on their momentum and self-belief.

Unfortunately I can't see them not scoring. They'll probably go gung go from the start so we should weather the storm and try to take the game to them. Biggest mistake would be if we try to go too defensive and give the ball too much to them. Of course everything depends on the midfield battle. Most important part is not too start slowly cause it could get ugly pretty quick.

For me, the result today will pretty much come down to whether our attack (particularly Rashford/Martial) turn up or not.

exactly but it was the same thing in Leipzig. Let’s hope we were learning and the desire is there
Ole went with a 352 in that game which, in hindsight, he probably regrets, especially when we looked quite comfortable against them at home when we played a diamond.

It's the first Liverpool vs United game in the last couple of years that's felt like a proper United vs Liverpool game as recently we've been out of the running when we've played them- obviously always nice to beat them but this time there's far more riding on it

I'd take a draw as we will still stay 3 ahead, however I'd absolutely LOVE to be the ones to beat their unbeaten run at Anfield, I'm sick of commentators gushing over it and want it ended, even better if we are the ones to to it

I am still worried about this game, I hope they don't have Matip back and have to play the 2 dodgy centre backs they've used lately.

I can just seen the gurning one getting them fired up for it and referees not daring give us a penalty given his comments lately...

Obviously I'd like to win fair and square eg not through dodgy decisions/ flukey luck or we will never hear the end of it but a tiny part of me hopes we get the winner through a dodgy penalty decision in the 93rd minute and Klopp implodes...

Hope Ole doesn't make any weird team decisions, I see him going ultra defensive but I think they're there to be got at on this occasion

Got a feeling Thiago will school our midfield.

A draw would not be a bad result. But City will go top then.

This is the most I have looked forward to a pool game for many years. I think it really boils down to us taking our chances better than we usually do. Unlike against teams, we will not get many chances to redeem our poor finishing. Got to be clinical. I would be good with a draw.

It isnt going to be easy to win this. Can we not fecking implode as a fan base if we dont? Progression is being made and that should be obvious, failing to beat these lot at Anfield shouldnt take away from that.
They haven't been beaten at home for a couple of years now so no one should be expecting a win, although I think we'll pull it off.

But I feel the least we should expect is for our lads to show up and give a good account of themselves. Put up a fight, show them we've improved and I'll be content with that. We all should to be fair.

Only if they win both games this week, a lot will depend on how much training Villa can manage in the next couple of days

I think we will totally outplay them today and win by 2 or 3 goals, relatively easily

If we beat them today they could potentially be dumped into 5th with both Everton and Villa also within striking distance to push them even further down.

Points will still only be 6 but the more teams between us the better.

    Getting excited now

I think Ole should go with the following:

    De Gea

    AVB
    Bailly
    Maguire
    Shaw

    Fred
    McT
    Fernandes
    Pogba

    Martial (if fit)
    Rashford

Hope its the Zebra kit I love it.

I'm just desperate for us to put in a really good performance in, show up, actually play to our potential. If its not good enough, alright, shows we've got a way to go. But if its a lacklustre display I'll be gutted.

    It has to be

    Rashford - Cavani - Greenwood
    Bruno
    Fred - Mctominay
    Shaw - Maguire - Bailly - AWB

We need Bailly for his pace. Cavani for his experience and workrate. Mcfred for the balance.
I simply cannot see Greenwood starting ahead of Pogba. Absolutely no chance!

Yea, it's important to remember winning or losing today will not make or break our season. We can lose today and still be on the same points as the league leaders. Who would have thought that's where we'd be after 18 games played?

TBF if both teams going for the title is a requirement for a proper United vs Liverpool game, there haven't been many of those since 1991 or so.
