FA W FA Cup 4th Round

Manchester United 3:2 Liverpool

Post-match discussion

Sun, 24 January 2021

You thought so? I thought they were going nowhere till we gifted them their 2nd goal. Of course then we were on the backfoot but with the changes we got back into it and deserved winners.

I think they looked more dangerous than us for quite a bit of the second half, but I think our dopey defending made me more nervous if anything.

Somebody needs to check in on Jonathan Wilson and see if he’s okay.

Easy goal between the legs conceded. It was not “well played”, with all due respect
With all due respect let me pelt a shot at you from 10 yards out between bodies and see if you can save that with your feet. Ridiculous to moan about that. Slow motion yet again fooling the tv manager.

Get in, get in and get in again.

Feck the ABU media, feck Jenas and feck the Liverpool love in.

Mane goes studs in and Jenas says its "nothing", if it was United player making thtat challenge Jenas would be asking for the player to be deported.

Love it just love it putting it up all the haters

Come on Utd

AaaaaOoooouuuuuuu

:D

Great finish to the weekend.

Without the pressure of the league match it seemed to loosen up a few players from both sides (and concentration levels in both defences definitely dipped).

Will be a big confidence boost to go toe to toe with Liverpool and out score them. Also good news for all of Greenwood, Rashford and Bruno to get back amongst the goals.

Bring on midweek.

What a game! Thoroughly deserved with a quite a few players stepping up their game. Absolutely fantastic feeling. GET INNNNNNN

Still can’t believe Jenas and Wright think the Cavani freekick wasn’t a freekick when you can clearly see moonhead knee Cavani in the back of the leg

Excellent result that, West Ham up next 2 days after we play Everton! Luckily we have 3 home games in a row so that should help a little bit.

What a strange game. Almost exhibition, preseason like. Neither side giving in but neither really going for it either. I'll take the win, but I don't remember another game against Liverpool that seemed so easy going.

Isnt that much better, even if we lost, still would happy with performance. We had a go, mistakes were made in defense but still, none of that, cant string 2 passes chickenshit nonsense. Well done team and Ole.

What a win and what a game

And yet people weren’t bothered about today and didn’t care if we lost 6-0

@Isotope
It wasn't my point. But what do I expect, when you're just focus on point scoring.

Anyway, you win the argument, mate.

I actually enjoyed that match. Don't get me wrong, I hoped, really hoped they wouldn't score, and therefore play more on their lack of confidence. But the way the game went, I never really felt that we'd lose it. Even with McT playing poorly for the most part (he still broke up play now and again and therefore served a purpose) so I won't lay into him.

The big thing is, I love watching us again. Really look forward to the next game, whoever we're playing. City are looking ominous, but we'll give them a hell of a game and that makes me happy / happier.

Rose tinted glasses I know, but if we can pluck a player in the mould of Carrick from somewhere, we're really onto something with this team.

And give Cavani another year, he's a monster of a player.

Mane's challenge was a Red
Fabinho should have had a second yellow

Liverpool got lucky

This is our GNev who...does not have a taste for scousers. Not the guy who has to do his job when commentating on our games.

GREAT WIN. Battling performances by the lads with less ability and proper quality by the lads with more. Just the perfect ingredients to win a big game. Bruno Fernandes, take a bow. Apparently he doesn’t do it against big teams despite already getting assists against Chelsea, City and Leipzig, and a goal against PSG and Leipzig before this

Special mention for my MOTM Marcus Rashford too.

We played well today, the team has developed a real fighting mentality, when we go behind or a team pulls level with us I now feel we have another gear and can get the next goal, under the previous two managers I never felt like that.

Pogba and McTominay really stepped up in the second half and it was great to see Marcus and Mason combining on their goals while Cavani was constantly pressing and harassing their CB's and then Bruno came on to finish them off, adding an extra threat.

Credit where it is due, today we were great and tactically much much better, kudos to Ole....hopefully we keep on going like this and he proves me wrong!!!

I don't have it 'wrong' mate. I took it from Livescore. No idea how they're so off.
They couldnt have been watching the game then. Without the stats you could see they had loads more possession especially second half. Was pretty even first.

Excuse me?

Not bigger than us

Bigger team in the league I mean - as I think we'd scored about 1 goal, a pen in about 6 or 7 games against the teams considered the big 6 (although in fairness Leicester should be in there over Arsenal now and we scored 2 in that one)

Difference between this win and the ones last year is we genuinely went toe to toe not just a purely counter attacking game. We imposed ourselves on them

Think it was a proper game, proper game management by Ole and a proper result. Just hoping that Rashford isn't injured. But what we can take out from this game is that United have improved. Whether it will be enough for a title challenge, remains to be seen, but for sure it is looking like it's going to be tight till the end.

Bring on the next game, good to watch United at the moment.

Made it unnecessarily more difficult than it needed to be with Rashford and Greenwood inexplicably switching. Why were we trying to be too cute? What we had was working and we had them on the ropes at that point. I feel we could have put them to sword if we kept Shaw and Rashford at it on the left side.

Rashford is back, hopefully his knee is fine. Mason scoring too and having a great performance will do him (and us) a world of good. Hopefully Martial wakes up too.

DVB needs a bit of Bruno (risk) about him. Needs to take responsibility for the game - he hardly loses a ball but then it's usually just recycling and movement.

Brilliant result.

Would not surprised if Liverpool finished outside the top four this season. Very ordinary side.

Brilliant result, buzzing!
A few quick points, in the compliment sandwich style
1. Pogba was great, the tackle on the edge of the box that led to our first goal was cracking.
2. We looked a threat while in possession as well as on the counter. In contrast Liverpool just seemed good in parts with little else outside of that.
3. Calamitous defending on our part for their goals
4. I don’t feel so confident with this playing out from the back from goal kicks we’ve employed.
5. I told Bruno to score a fecking goal before that FK, wife told me to pipe down, Bruno scored so the cock came out transfer muppet style.
Overall, a great Sunday afternoon!

GET IN!

Sometimes I wish you could post the noise you make at full time after a game like that (probably a good idea you cant considering I probably like some sort of demon goat or something) to get across how thrilled you are.

Now thats a sweet victory. Cant have any reason to complain there, hopefully its another boost in our belief and confidence.

As for Liverpool hopefully another damaging blow on their way to a full blown implosion and crisis.

When was the draw for the next round made btw?
