I remember a manager putting on 17-year-old Macheda and 18-year-old Welbeck against Aston Villa during a close title race.

On the other hand, Amad coming on today against West Ham in the FA Cup 5th round was just too risky for Ole.
I have said it several times, he is really scared, more scared than Mourinho. So scared of losing, which isn't a good trace for a United manager. Also "he plays youth" no he doesn't! He did, at one time, but he doesn't now.

Worth starting him in the Europa League game vs Sociedad?
Will be on the bench and maybe get on the pitch if we're leading by 2+ goals.

OGS might have forgotten this but SAF always throws an attacking youngsters on the pitch to make a difference and it always worked.

We were chasing a must win game, that's when you just throw on all available attackers. You don't really throw on green attacker when you need to retain defensive solidity. Rashford at the very least will track back and also have the experience to retain the ball once we were ahead. Rashford still also got the all important assist...
I don’t see this. He just jogs or watches players run past him.

LvG also did it with Martial, a player we signed for a similar fee and came with high expectations. He also did it with Rashford too.

But I agree, at best he will start on the bench and will only come on once we have a comfortable aggregate lead. Just hope he shines in any cameos given to him so that way he would be a serious consideration for a starting spot going forward. Guy has serious potential from what I have seen from him in the u23's!

It's easy to start a youngster if you've no alternatives in that position.

I can't imagine Amad lacking first team action for long because he's really the only alternative to Greenwood right now.

Hopefully he hits the ground running because we need someone in that position who doesn't just cut inside.

always? Ffs, get a grip. He did what he did to suit the circumstances at certain times. Fergie was the goat, but different times now. He had made a stable side, which made it easier to carry a debutant. If you want to continually cite Fergie, just remember his Ralphie Milnes etc when he was building his squad/future. Maybe you are aware of any of this.

Amad not coming on yesterday being used as a stick to beat Ole with  absolutely pathetic stuff. Spoilt brats.
Indeed.

"Ole is too scared of losing a game!" says the forum where everyone throws a fecking tantrum if we ever don't win a game.

Yep, Rashford tracking back hasn't been a thing for about 2 years now to be honest.
I think that's on purpose. Instructions imo. Idea is to a conserve some energy. And be ready for the counter. Somewhat like Salah at Liverpool.

Yeah does seem wild. I’m sure if we had kept the dominance we showed in the first half up but with the benefit of a goal or two we probably would have seen Amad. Doubt Ole wanted to bring on Shaw, Bruno, McT and Cavani but it was needs must.

Wouldnt expect to see him start in Europe either. Probably be the same scenario, Waiting for a good moment to get him on and have a feel with the first team when we look comfortably dominant. People seem to be forgetting that SAF had Pogba on the bench a few times and was reluctant to throw him in. Even starting the likes of Rafa over him in midfield during an injury crisis.

We all want to see the shiny new toy but better he is eased in than thrown in the deep end.

Seems a bit harsh, we played one 19 year old for 86 minutes then another for 30 minutes (Williams might actually be 20 but same thing). I'd be very surprised if Amad doesn't make a cameo in the next month. From a selfish perspective I'm almost glad we'll get to see him link up with Shoretire and Mejbri at least a couple more times for the U23s.

Ole has done that multiple times this year.

What's even funnier, the biggest and best example of this being untrue cost us £80 mil to get back

Greenwood had James ahead of him who stank the right side of the midfield and was still getting minutes. Greenwood got his chances after the lockdown.
Mason Greenwood played 51 first team matches last season, including 31 in the Premier League. Your version of events are not accurate

It's also worth remembering it was easier to bed Greenwood in during the Europa League group stage, which we don't have the luxury of currently, he picked up quite a few goals against fodder to build up his confidence.

Amad will get his chance, we just have to show the same patience the coaching staff are doing.

I just hope Mejbri isn't out injured for too long. There was reports that he'd suffered a injury against Blackburn.

He'll be on the bench vs West Brom, just a hunch based on nothing but my own logic, but it would make sense.
Still think there is a chance he could play with the U23's again tomorrow night, however if he could make his first PL matchday squad it will give me real hope he could get his debut next Thursday

With Pogba out injured and Mata nowhere to be seen, we don't really have any other options for the 9-man bench unless we go with two keepers or four defenders.

Henderson
Bailly
Tuanzebe
Telles
Matic
Van De Beek
James
Martial
Mata/Amad/Williams

It's between Williams and Amad for that last spot on the bench (unless Mata is back). I personally think it'll be Amad as we don't need 4 defensive options on the bench vs West Brom.

Really looking forward to seeing this lad play for the first team. West Brom away might not be the best game to throw him into, but if we manage to build a commanding lead with 30 minutes remaining we should definitely give him a go. If not, then Europa on Thursday is a great opportunity.

The reserves play against Arsenal on Friday, so if he plays that then no chance.

If he doesnt then he'll be on the bench you'd assume. I suspect he'll play against Arsenal though.

What's this about Diallo being fined for falsifying documents related to his Italian passport? Says that he had someone pretend to be his mum and dad
feels very much like the sort of thing you only get punished for if you’re a Utd player. Never heard of any players from rival clubs getting fined for this.

Diallo punished for something that he didn’t do personally and which happened years ago when he was essentially a kid and victim of child trafficking, and the media are desperately trying to ruin him and take him down now.

Hated, adored, never ignored. We’re the biggest club in the world. Daily Fail, Sun, Express etc can try to take us down, but it’s impossible. We’re behind you lad, just like we’re behind Mason.

Not a slight on anyone but I don't think Marcus or Tony make that assist. unreal vision from the kid to set Shoretire up. He's the real deal.
Don’t bother wasting your breath on most of the fans on this forum. They’ll just have a pop at you for saying it and when he does become the player you and I know he can become ( if he keeps his head down) They’ll say they said exactly the same. The lads ability is incredible.

He looks like he is above this level. But making the step up to first team squad player is something else. Many had impressed at this level before.
Can I just ask who you believe was at this level in our u18s and 23s and didn’t make it? We havent had too many 18 y/o at this level I have to say and I’ve been watching for around ten years now. Who have I missed? Ravel is the only one I can think of and he needed help with himself it wasn’t a lack of ability.

James Wilson too - but in hindsight i'm not sure the reserve level was quite as good as it is these days. He had everything though it seemed! (apart from determination and a work ethic)

The u23's is a terrible standard of football to be honest, that's not me slagging Amad off or any of the lads currently doing well at that level, it is what it is.

While Pique, Pogba and Rossi didn't make it at United they all had successful careers elsewhere, to varying degrees, so much so that Pogba eventually rejoined.

wilson, pereira will Keane, adnan and Chong belong in the bracket below I think. They looked amazing in the youth setup but a mixture of injuries and bad attitude and ultimately a lack of ability has/will probably hold them back.

Based on not much at all I think he'll get a few cameos this season and then go on loan next season. I'm not saying I don't think he's talented or that he won't make it here I just don't think it'll be nearly as soon as most of you seem to have convinced yourselves.

If I'm proven wrong I'll be incredibly happy.
