He has played like 20 mins of football. Why do fans expect him to have an instant impact.crazy
I am personally expecting him to have an impact. But thats immaterial to whether we should play him or not. Fans expectations are obviously immaterial

The reason to play him would be because we dont have a RW. And what's the point of James on the bench instead of Diallo? Granted there maybe fitness reasons or other reasons that we dont know about but from what we know and what I saw in U-23 I think he is ready to play, at the very least a few minutes from the bench.

I don't necessarily disagree but do we have any highly rated kids that play in such a position of need?
Not really, our strongest performers are in midfield (Puigmal, Mejbri), striker (Hugill) and wings (Elanga, Diallo too but we've only seen him play once).
What time is kick off? Is Hugill playing? Wild Friday night in playing PS4 and watching our reserves!
7 I think.

Not a fan of how we let puigmals contract run down without at least giving him a chance or 2 on loan. I think he’ll make it but not here and if he was doing well on loan this season he may have had a squeak at getting a new deal here but that ship has probably sailed. He needs to go play somewhere ASAP.

To be fair this is the first season since he joined us he's actually looked the part. I've really liked his performances this season but he's not played like this his entire time here. Last I heard we offered him a new contract but he was stalling on it because Barcelona came sniffing.

I thought he was good last year too. The club just probably played it safe with his contract expiring at the end of this season. Same as Gomez. We really need to be getting players who aren’t ready for first team at least one loan before they leave.

He was decent last year but his end product this year has been infinitely better, got 3 goals and 1 assist in 16 games last year, a few were at full back, this year he has 7 goals and 2 assists in 11 games.

I agree but hitting top form for the u23s on your way out of the club isn’t really the best management. Something should have been decided last year but it’s been let run. To be fair he’s a team player who’ll knit things together well at pro level and as I said probably wouldn’t have made it here anyway but we seem to be missing the mark a little while balancing contracts and getting the lads valuable experience/putting them in the shop window. I like him but I wouldn’t be confident giving him a long new deal without seeing how he does with a run of games at a better level. Anyway. Ive gone Amad off topic here. :)

Not a slight on anyone but I don't think Marcus or Tony make that assist. unreal vision from the kid to set Shoretire up. He's the real deal.

TBF you aren't going to get that much space and time in the PL. The unreal vision was from Hannibal to set up Amad who tee'd up Shola for his first. That was the pass of the match

Watched the 12-minute highlight from the U23 Liverpool game... holy cow! This kid has vision! His on-field awareness is incredible, and he totally controlled the ball around the Pool defenders. Unselfish with his teammates, too. Lovely stuff.

Loved what I’ve seen from the kid in the highlights I’ve seen from his two under 23’s games but I’m going to reserve judgement until I’ve seen him play a first team game, even if it’s in Europa or a lower league club in the FA Cup as he’ll be playing grown men and not have as much time on the ball but I love what I’ve seen so far.

I still expect us to make a move on Sancho, who's effective and capable across 3 (RW,LW,SS) out of the 4 front roles.

But Amad himself is looking like a fine talent.
Plus we have Pellistri too who looks like a interesting cultured player.

Was just going to comment on the vision. Cool calm collected, head up and picks out the pass instead of trying to score himself.

I know its early to say but I really think we have found a gem. Sometimes you watch a player and they just have that level above of technical ability to make it big. Diallo looks to have that. If he can cope with the physically of the men's game I think he will be a star.

Same. I don’t know if I’ve just been starved of seeing anything like that within our own team, but seeing a player who can actually beat a man or run at their defence at pace is almost so alien that he just seems like Ronaldo mk 2 by comparison.

Genuinely don’t think we’ve had that quality within the side since Di Maria - and even that only lasted 4 games.

I'm as excited as anyone about Diallo but of course they would, it's a simple pass which he has lots of time to weigh up. I'd be disappointed if any of the first team didn't make that pass. But it does confirm that he's ready for the first team. The composure is there.

Wow I like what I'm seeing, he's a very technically gifted player indeed.
Forget Sancho...

He looks like he is above this level. But making the step up to first team squad player is something else. Many had impressed at this level before.
