That makes sense. Mbappé is going to get paid really well by PSG if he sticks with them. They aren't necessarily facing the money issues that Real Madrid have. Plus, PSG are getting better in Europe, so it'd be easier for them to keep players.
Hopefully they go for Mbappe
They'll sign one of the two and then sign Alaba on a free along with either Pau Torres or Kounde by giving Villareal/Sevilla some of their fringe players.

This is the Mitten article with the latest transfer news amongst other things.

That would complicate the complex muppet calculations.

I will be gutted if we overlook the DM position entirely.
Might be they feel if they can get the right CB it sorts a lot of things out. Fred and McTominay play because of McGuire and Lindelof. If we can use McGuire with Bailly or new CB the need is not as great. They can then look in January or the following summer. It depends what happens with Pogba as well. If we need to replace him with any funds he brings in.

I don’t even want a right sided forward until we’ve had a decent look at Diallo personally. I don’t see the point.

To me we need a new spine of centre half, centre mid and centre forward above all.

Yeah same here but there just seems to be no noise at all on that front and doesn't look to be even an afterthought in that Mitten article which is worrying to say the least when we only have one in the whole squad

I get wanting a RWF but not at the expense of a CDM/CM

It would, if it's true. However, it might also well mean that clubs have more incentive to go after him already this summer, if they have to pay triple figures anyway.
You better hope you reach top four, else Raiola is going to turn Brackel into a heap of smoking rubble..

It is easier doing a low block on a team that only has a threat coming down one side. That will be why he is desperate for a right winger/forward. I agree I would want to be taking a good look at Amad and what he offers before spending most of the budget on Sancho.

I get wanting a RW too, but I feel that us actually signing one has had no impact on a lot of people’s wishes. I suppose this is down to having not seen him yet. Give it a few good appearances from Diallo and I expect the RW talk to die down a little.

We have one of the best young ones in the world on the cusp of the first team and people want another signed. We’ve always had a role in the team for developing a super talent, and Amad should be rotated with what we already have, as opposed to with another version of himself that was just born 18 months earlier.

You’re going to be gutted then. Ole isn’t buying a specialised defensive midfielder because he has no interest in playing one (you can argue the merits of that but it’s the way it is). I’m not remotely surprised that we aren’t linked to one; it just isn’t our playing model.

Quite rightly, I expect that we’ll prioritise a centre half and right winger. Gaping holes in the first team that are long overdue.

Not a chance we get all of those with covid still impacting clubs. I agree in that I’d like to see Amad properly before making a decision in the summer on a RW.

We need a CB as a main priority this coming summer which i imagine will eat into most of our budget. I can see Pogba going and Lingard being used as a pawn for Rice. Then maybe Trippier comes in and we’ll be done. We may add a young talent to tie it all off. Unless of course Haaland does become available, in which case our priorities will probably shift.

Everyone says Pogba is going every summer and yet here we are
The club aren't stupid enough to allow him to leave on a free once more. He's in a very strong position and Ole has struggled to get value from him on the pitch. He may have good games, but they're few and far between.

He either goes now or he walks on a free next summer. I think the club would prefer to cash in on what they can salvage.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"

Yeah, I think that's how they see it too

Or, they get a better Def Mid and keep the CHs.

I'd take one or the other (if a top player in their position) plus Haaland. Unless we sell Pogba and Martial, in which case we should be loaded and I'd expect 3 good signings (min).

Still think Haaland is the one (and Martial part ex)

He's burning quite a few bridges Mino. You'd think he'd run out of bridges to burn at some point.
Brian Brobbey. Centre Forward. Just turned 19. Minimal fee as his contract ends next summer. Already a strong player. Good goal scoring record in Belgium and Holland for one so young. Represented by Raiola.

Could only understand going for a forward if Haaland was available this summer otherwise we should be signing a CDM because it would allow us to be more expansive in midfield
The reason we're being talked about looking for forwards is because the option in Cavani's contract is a player option. With a few months remaining in his contract, there hasn't been any news about his player option being exercised. If Cavani himself isn't committed to continuing with us next season, then that'll leave us short up front. Our search for a new striker is to ensure that we have someone to take Cavani's place not just for next season but also a couple of seasons after that (at least).

So United haven't even sat down with a player who controls the additional year option. Interesting...very American, if I may add.

If Ole thinks McFred is the way forward then we're fecked, it'll be continuous top 4 scraps rather than title challenges.
We'll get a replacement for Pogba if he leaves.

Otherwise I think we get a CB and one of the star signings of Haaland, Grealish or Sancho if they're available.

I highly doubt we will actually manage to get a deal for one of those players over the line.

Will probably be another summer of pointless gossip with us getting a couple of underwhelming signings late in the window

Yeah can’t understand if we are not seeing that position as a weakness.

It removes the need to play both Fred and McTominay at the same time and allows Pogba and Bruno to get on the pitch at the same time.

It would bring a whole new flexibility to the midfield and get our best players on the pitch.
