Anyone not following the rules will be warned and perma banned from the thread. Please abide by the following list.

DON'T:

  • Post anything from clear BS accounts.
  • Post anything from clickbait tabloid accounts.
  • Post anything from aggregator sites (Utdreport etc) who don't link to original source and tend to make stuff up for retweets/follows.
  • Post anything that was tweeted more than three days ago. If it wasn't posted before then, nobody cares.
  • Use the thread to argue about the players United are linked with compared to those that a club like City are signing. If you want to moan, make a new thread.
  • Use the thread to moan about people who are moaning.
  • post offtopic comments in the thread. Keep the thread small and simple rather wasting pages on discussion about the quality of the player
  • post more than two tweets per post.
  • post joke/piss take tweets
  • post a non-English tweet without a basic translation
Tweets from actual journalists who work for well known media outlets are always best. (Examples - Di Marzio, Mitten, Ogden, Mathieson, Marcotti, Jackson, Ducker etc)

Last year's blacklist still applies and we will add or subtract new accounts to the below list as appropriate.

That reddit tier guide is outdated. Luckhurst for example has dropped down a tier.

In the previous thread. I changed it so the Transfer Tweets link gets from this thread instead. People can feel free to repost the most recent few from the last one into here.

I'd prefer Pau Torres to Ake anyway tbh. Still think we should go for Upamecano but seems like we're only considering left-footed cbs which I understand to an extent but I think we should be focusing on the overall quality of the cb instead at this point. Upamecano and Maguire are both good enough on the ball where it shouldn't really be that big of a deal anyway. Still, I really like Torres' passing range. He is tall so I expect he will get better at heading even if he's not as good in the air as he should be currently. Solid positioning. Cost seems a bit high tbh. Think he's more of a £35-40m player at this stage but the potential is definitely there. I definitely prefer him to Gabriel from Lille who seems to be the other major cb we are being linked with. Never really understood the Gabriel links since he's never seemed to be particularly good on the ball which I'd assume is the main reason we're concentrating on a left footer, to make it more difficult for attackers to limit their passing options.

City pulling UTD on us now? They we're in talks with Fredo and Sanches, we got them. Ole did some transfer tempering of his own with Ake, now City got him.

I could be completely wrong but maybe it's a case of either VDB & Torres or Grealish & Gabriel this summer.

City and Chelsea both being proactive and decisive early.

Suspect we will sign Sancho ... About a week before the window closes. United love a saga more than a good presesson

Hopefully turns out as well for them as it did for us then

If that is the case I'd much prefer VDB and Torres. Nothing against Grealish, he's excellent but £80m in our current season is way too much to be spending on him. We need to strengthen other positions before being able to justify that sort of transfer. Grealish probably wouldn't even be in our best XI considering the quality of our 1st choice players in those positions. Our 1st choice cbs on the contrary could definitely be improved.

Nice backup to Laporte
They definitely needed one. His injury absolutely destroyed their season. People talk about how important VVD is to Liverpool's defence, I feel like Laporte is honestly just as important to City's defence and he doesn't seem to be mentioned that way very often.

For this price we should be looking at Koulibaly who I think is valued at 65m Diego Carlos who I think has a 63m release clause. Funny thing is that these are the two CBs City are also targeting
Koulibaly is 29 though. By the time this squad is about to peak in 3-4 years we would probably need to replace him

City not messing around a single bit, wish we could operate like that :(
They've gone for very easy targets that were never going to blow into a saga. They probably started informal talks weeks or maybe even monthsago, and it never caused much fuss in the media because they're not signings that'll get clicks.
