I have no idea how that is clear and obvious.

And why no replays during the review?

Terrible terrible spectacle.

Came off the defender...
But that’s doesn’t necessarily mean it’s offside. If it deflects then it’s offside, if it’s a deliberate play on the ball then it isn’t. From one angle it looks like mount plays it the defender tries to clear it and it goes to Giroud. I think it’s actually a bit more grey than it looks.

They never show replays during the VAR check in the Champions League or Europa League and it's ridiculous.

Wasn't deflected, Mount went for it but the defender got his toe on it first and flicked it up

Agree with you here. The thing is, if Giroud wasn't behind the defender, he may not have tried to clear it. So Giroud being there led him to try clear it which led to Giroud being onside.

Edit: Just seen @bosnian_red post. That makes more sense.

So the on field ref just needs to take the word of the VAR ref. He doesn't have any screen or something where he can look.

Nice one UEFA

Atlético deserves that. That is what you get playing a line of 6 behind a line of 3. Never seen something like this. Simeone is such a coward.
They only started to play when they went behind.

Yeh just saw the replay, but from a few angles it looks like a deflection. Definitely shouldn’t have taken 3 minutes though. Surely as soon as they saw the good angle they could have just decided.

What the feck? 0 attempts on goal from Atletico? Have Chelsea played well or is Spanish football shite now?

They never look at offsides, do they?
Is it? But this confusion wasn't about where Giroud was standing, but whether the last touch came of Atletico defender or not.
So I guess it would have warranted a look by the ref if there was an angle where the touch is clear.

Athletico is such a boring team to watch. I remember them parking the the bus against Bayern despite being 0:1 behind..

Chelsea are nowhere near good enough to justify such a negative approach from their opponents.

Wolfsberger AC's name uses a German grammatical form to say Athletic Club for/of the town/city/settlement of Wolfsberg instead of just Wolfsberg Athletic Club. It's an alternative that a lot of clubs from German speaking countries use for their names.

If for example FC Fulham used an English version of that same German grammatical form, they'd be FC for/of the residential area of Fulham.
Would their opponents be playing against of the residential area of Fulham or against Fulham because the first option wouldn't make sense as a name?

Example sentence:
Tottenham have their game against of the area of Fulham tonight.
Tottenham have their game against Fulham tonight.

Now combine this with the fact that the German form doesn't actually use part of a sentence to describe the connection. The original name of the town just gets a different grammatical ending that is clearly only there for the conjunctive use with a noun and wouldn't make sense standing alone.

The ref having to go over is the most pointless thing anyway. The rules are the rules whoever is looking at the replay.

So long as it's an equally qualified ref making the decision, I don't see the issue.

Suarez must have invited Rudiger to dinner. Understandable that his fight or flight instinct would take over

I thought Atletico had started playing better football and this how Suarez was getting all those goals.
But apparently not
