The incompetent referees using VAR are ruining the game.
Comes across as someone who is not going to stick around if there is no CL football and feeling split loyalties between his team and his career.

It was probably the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen in football as on replay there was no contact at all with his face - it looked like he was trying to cheat.

Players go down for the slightest contact, I get it it has happened as far as I can remember, the issue for me was him on the ground like a sniper took him out to the point the medical staff had to come on. Disgusting display which i'm convinced influenced the call. Ref has to be making a common sense call there. Son fakes a near death experience and gets rewarded by having the opposition goal canceled. There’s no doubt that Son made the better decision for the team, even though it’ll damage his reputation significantly.
Referees really need to stop rewarding people for actions like this, otherwise it’ll never stop. Diving can be punished my exaggeration is much harder - but I feel they can always punish players in retrospect after reviews (this would include things like Rashford holding his face after being kicked) - and this may encourage the players stopping things like this.

Until the referees stop rewarding players for exaggerating contact and injury, players will keep doing this. They're professionals paid to win football games after all.
Do referees even play football? Everyone who does knows that with all the adrenaline coursing through your body, only the worst kinds of injuries and contacts can cause a player to be immobilised. I tore my ACL, my knee felt a little bit looser and thought it strange, and played on. It was only the next day when my knees swelled and locked up and I realised what had happened.
This happens because VAR is available to every single individual player going through every single motion.
If each team only had 1 or 2 VAR decisions to make per 90 mins then the game is shifted back in to the referees live game decision most of the time.
It then becomes the decision of the team and manager to ask for a VAR to be checked and they would have to do it knowing that their player didnt deserve that red they had.
If for example Lamela had smacked Martial that led to Martial getting sent off - spurs would have to contemplate before the decision whether using a VAR with blatant play acting is a better choice than needing a VAR to have a look at a potential offside goal that isnt offside later on.
This is how it's used in Cricket and I think it could be even better to watch in such a high tempo match rather than the game breaking up every 5 mins to check on the play acting players at the VAR.
Referees should really have a think about what "simulation" means. Even a decently strong hit to the face isn't going to make someone go to the ground, so any time they do that they are simulating injury and should be booked for unsportsmanlike conduct. Even if they have been legitimately fouled.
Anybody who's played football has had the ball blasted square into their face, and it doesn't make you fall over.
Limited use of VAR per team sounds like too much hassle, and sounds too much like tennis, or cricket or any other sports that I have no interest in.
Just be rid of it so we can all spend time talking about how Henry handled the ball to deny Ireland and WC place or how Scholes was onside and we'd have knocked 2004 Porto put of the CL. You know, much more varied debates. Sick and tired of talking about VAR.
I like it because it becomes a very managerial and tactical decision the manager has to make at the right time to get the right result no difference to a manager wanting to make a sub.
He has a very few limited video chances and he has to be the accurate one who makes it when it is used.
