Title race is over the mentality at the club is still of a top 6 side finish 2nd this year and win a cup is progress then buy a few top players in badly needed positions and we could do a proper title push next year.

It is over. We have fecked up our chances recently. 2 wins from the last 7. 10/21 points and blew the lead we had against City.

I think in the long run City would probably have won it with the form they got. Still we made it easy for them and could have pushed them with no De Bruyne to be under pressure.

The current United team can never bridge a possible 10 points gab. More likely the gab will increase more and we'll drop more points.
Yeah bottlejob FC haven't got a prayer of reducing this gap but can easily increase it without any bother

Get it to within 5 with 3 games left is the only chance we have. Still, Everton and Chelsea arent the easiest 2 fixtures to have

It would be quite nice to win our game in hand and play first in the next round of games, win and be 5 points behind just for psychological reasons. Problem with europa is we normally will always keep playing after City. Can but dream

It won't happen.

I have seen bigger and more unexpected capitulations though. Still a game in hand too.

They'll bottle it. They'll lose to Villa and Chelsea. And also their last game of the season against Everton. You heard it here first.

City would have to pick up half of their remaining points to give United a chance and even then they'd have to win every game.

Anything's possible I guess but it's highly unlikely.

I said a few weeks ago IF we could get it within 6 with 4 games to go then would have the tiniest glimmer

We can only get within 8 points as they are playing Villa away on the 21st April

can't deny, I had a sneaky look at City's fixtures.
Would love to think there was an opportunity to get within SIX points by beating Leeds but will take a huge ask for Villa to take anything from City before that game

City will win the league but we can trouble them enough to ensure they can’t rest players for the cup competitions like they did at the weekend.

As the only English team to have done the proper treble, maintaining that status should be incentive enough.

Is there any chance Grealish will be fit to play against them? Without him, I don't see them troubling City all that much.
Probably not but there's a small chance he could be fit.

This is a pipe dream.
Would be decent of we could finish within 10 points of City and the EL.

If Pep decides not to start De Bruyne, Foden, Dias, Walker, Gundogan and Mahrez from now until the end of the season... we're still not catching them

We should not give up. City got tricky fixtures, but they can afford 4 draws potentially.

We did bottle a similar situation against them though.

We should be focused on finishing the season strong in order to lay a marker down for next season.

City's problem is the level of fixture congestion should they progress in the CL and domestic cups. Their squad is not as deep as is publicly stated. They will prioritize the cup competitions so I can see them dropping a few more points but unless we make it hot it won't count for much. They don't have a history of throwing away large leads in the lead, so best not to hope too much.

No idea of what you speak of.

City
it is possible to catch them, as many have said they did it to us in 2012 from a similar position.
There are some differences though.
In their favour is
1)we dont have to play them. One of the key moments of them running us down was the 1-0 win at the etihad.
2)Goal difference. Their goal difference was bigger than ours 2012 and was the reason they won the league. This year their goal difference is also bigger than ours and therefore we dont have that advantage.

In our favour
1)In 2012 both us and city were out of all cup comps at this stage. The premier league was the only focus. Today city are still fighting on 4 fronts, it will cost them and was a big factor in their loss at leeds. We have to keep in mind though that we are still in two comps.

Overall its a bigger ask of us this year than it was for city in 2012, but it would be so good if we could do it

2012 when 8 points ahead. They still had us to play though. We lost to Wigan though and blew our lead over Everton.

5 points lost vs Palace and two vs Wba hurts the most.
City are probably equally screwing about their slow start and only picking up one point vs United. 6 points Vs United and a good start they'd (can't by arsed to do the maths but guessing this is the case) be mathematically over the line already.

Leicester could point to all the home loses they've suffered and say they may have been challenging if they we're better in those infact even we could look at December/January and say if only.

Basically what I'm saying is if, buts and maybe's can work both ways, City have one hand on the title for a reason and it's because they're the best team in the league and no one else has been consistent enough to match them.

Ever since Leicester won the league there was only one proper title race and it was between City and Liverpool in 2018/19. Other than that, it was obvious who would win it in December/January/February at the latest. Contrast to that 2006-2012 period when there was a race basically every season.
