Yeah... If you ignore the many ways you could bypass regulations like that. See Leipzig in Germany. A non profit "fan club" holding the majority of the football company with only a selective number of members that share the same interests of the other 49% of the shareholders...

Never thought I'd be impressed with Chelsea fans.
My money is actually on Henry. He is the one that seems the most capitalistic and he actually seems to pay a but of attention to the Dippers.
2 biggest clubs in the world. Doesnt mean we were the driving force, it just means our demands were met.

The way this is going, if UEFA come in with a sweetener and its back to as you were, it would seem like a missed opportunity to sort the game out.

I only sweetener that would work for these clubs is guranteed Champions League football regardless of where they finish in the League.

Blind panic I would imagine. If the fans of all these clubs simply sit down and stop the games from happening, no way this goes through.
Fair fecks to the Chelsea fans. The cynic in me tells me that they did come to terms with being owned by a corrupt Russian so they'll come to terms with that tournament as well but still...Good signs.
It's not about labelling anyone as big baddy, it's about saying it as it is. Joel Glazer is the Vice Chairman of the Superleague and United and Liverpool's owners have been at the forefront of the Super League disccissuions.
I think they really under estimated how pissed off people are already after a year of lockdown. This is just sending people over the edge and they aren't just going to calm down in a week or two and let it happen.
People are willing to protest over wearing a face mask during a pandemic for god sake.

Which is why it is announced now, not when things are a bit more opened up. They would be hoping everyone would stay at home. That the fans would take it all nice and quietly. They got that wrong.

I was a civil servant working on legislation for a couple of years, and here is why I treat the legislative route as something which needs to be taken with a pinch of salt...
It is the State Opening of Parliament on 11 May. No time to legislate before then, and a normal Parliamentary process for a Bill can take anything from six to twelve months, in addition to a pre-legislative timescale, including consultation and drafting which can take anything from 12-24 months.
Now it may be the case that a Bill is already drafted - Government departments have literally hundreds of legislative proposals 'ready to go', but usually there isn't parliamentary time to bring them into effect.
Even in this case the Government only controls the timetable of the Commons, not the Lords, meaning that if individual Lords wish to filibuster, delay or amend legislation, there is little Government can do (as this isn't a Bill relating to taxation). So immediately I think whether there are any Peers who could be influenced by the six clubs to delay or amend legislation? It isn't beyond the realms of possibility.
All in all, the ESL could be in place before legislation is passed, especially if the Government lose focus on this issue, or if the protests wane.
The best things to do would be for posters to absolutely deluge Parliamentarians, especially Select Committees, and keep up the pressure.

14 clubs will be facing going insolvent unless they agree to keep the big 6 in the league ... I'm a cynic and that just seems like too coincidental
