Great second half and a well deserved win. Bit like against Spurs, when Cavani, Pogba and Fernandes all start turning on the style, we look unplayable. Some quality goals in there, and the passing was superb. Everything clicks and suddenly every pass is an unexpected angle and runners are coming from nowhere. Great to watch.

But still, I can't help but worry about how we responded to the equaliser. We can't get knocked out of our stride so easily. We won’t always have a half time to get our heads together.

But still, made it irrelevant by whopping them second half. If there was a semi hoodoo, it’s gone now.

Great performance and result, hopefully we’ll be able to rest players in the return leg.
But let’s face it, this Roma team would be fighting relegation in the Premiership, on this evidence at least. Obviously you can only beat the team in front of you, but Jesus Christ that was the worst defending I’ve ever seen from an Italian team

Well in the match thread I asked for a Leipzig like reaction but didn't expect to get one quite that emphatic, ended up feeling very much like the Leeds home game in the end I thought

Well, that was pretty worrisome for a while. Roma are as bad as some have said.

- On the whole Pogba and Bruno did not play very well, however, they were involved beautifully for many goals
- AWB on the rise in attack. Having Shaw and AWB for many seasons to come is exciting
- I still don't understand why not play Pogba on right and Rashford on the left. I would love to hear OGS's reasoning
- Who else noticed that DDG did not come out for a corner that should have been his? Our defense looks so much more comfortable with Henderson. I hope Hendo starts the final.
- Cavani, please stay one more year.

Great stuff!

Just saw Greenwood is now on 10 goals for the season which isn't too bad considering how he started.

Hopefully he hits the ground running after the Summer.

The suggestion that we were terrible in the first half is complete and utter bollocks. A narrative reinforced by the result and that alone. The second goal shocked us but we were much the better team.

Second half was, of course, phenomenal.

Second demolition of the season after Southampton. At least they were down to 10, Roma are just bad.

Absolutely brilliant display from the team. Cavani, Pogba, Bruno, Shaw and AWB in particular were exceptional. Our lads need to believe in themselves and realize how good they are. Ole keeps reminding them every halftime and they pull it off in the second half every time. They should try doing it for 90 mins for our sake.

I hope this comeback inspires the team to win this competition, they are a level above and deserve a trophy.

Better hope Cavani stays then.
Sure, that would be a good option, but spending on Haaland won't stop the bad parts of our game. We can attack. A competent defense allows us to play far more expansive football.
It's time to start putting the fear back into teams. Scoring 6 in a semi of any competition is how you do that.

really interesting one with the keeper.

my thoughts are anyways to play your best keeper in the important games. At the moment OGS thinks it’s Henderson. If he’s going to be our no1, he needs to play in the final.

Just finished work , seems like a tale of two halves. I taped the game, should I just watch the second half?
We actually played pretty well in the first half to be fair. First goal was unlucky and second was just poor defending.

Pogba and Bruno did not play very well? I just don't understand that view.

Watch both. Should have never been 2-1 at half time. We played well for most of the half except 30 min to half time when we looked like we were feeling a bit sorry for ourselves.

Never looked like we would lose this game.

Owes United an apology please
That was a fantastic second half, beautiful football and I think what we all like to say. But it doesnt prove anything. We did the same last year and ended up with nothing, this year we have bottled the other competitions again unnecessarily. I enjoyed watching that half of football, but it doesnt mean anything if we go on to play another month of dire football from now. Win the EL, finish second strongly with good performances against Liverpool, Arsenal and Leicester in the league, and that looks more like it.

My point was never that this match couldnt get turned around.

I don't think I've ever given 3 players a 10 in a match but Bruno, Pogba and Cavani were hot buttered sauce tonight, they dominated that 2nd half and combined brilliantly for our 1st half goal as well.

Any idea on what Scholes is saying now
Scholes has rarely looked so happy.

Half the moaners on the match day thread should feel supremely embarrassed :wenger:
They never learn. They support a team famous for coming back from the dead, but they still give up at HT when the team is only one goal down.

Maybe football just isn't for them?

So pleased to not have my faith at half-time misplaced. Both the manager and players deserve a lot of credit. One of the great European performances by Manchester United. Cavani, Pogba and Bruno all delivered possible 10s.

Get in there lads!

After the first half it felt like it might be one of those games, everything that could have gone wrong did, Roma scored with their only 2 shots!

Second half was brilliant, scoreline doesn't even flatter us, really want us to win the EL, I feel we deserve it!

Delicious result. I hope Cavani stays a bit longer than expected. He brings another dimension to our attack.

Ole clearly had no idea about Roma.. used the first 45 to suss them out..
the second half clearly showed why Ole doesnt waste time watching clubs like Roma.
