Layers upon layers of jokes. Just the perfect comedy.
I love it. Well, the first three seasons. The rest is a huge slog to get through, and I've never managed to actually finish it. I'd have to give the title to a show that maintained the quality for a longer run.

I watched the first episode of season 4 but found it very jarring seeing George Michael grown up. Never been back to it and another part of me is worried it won’t be as good as seasons 1-3 and will somewhat blemish the show. So at the moment I just watched the first 3 seasons every few months. There’s always a new joke you’ve missed.

I've not seen this but you love Friends. How's that then?!

People here also kept saying that The Wire was the greatest show of all time and nice as it seemed it never gripped me. Season 1 was good fun. Lost interest in season 2. Will go back to but it's no holy grail it seems!

You haven't reached the best part of it yet. Season 2 puts a lot of people off but the next two seasons are the greatest TV seasons ever, easily.

great shows. You have to watch them in order from the beginning, and this really pays off when you watch the watch the later shows which are some of the best comedy I’ve ever seen.

Just remember you have to start from the start.

Not sure about best but it’s definitely up there. So well written.

The Office. Not the Yankie one.
Been watching this again recently as I think I went off Gervais last time which ruined it for me and I was probably a bit young to really get it. It really is close to perfection.

Yeah I loved it too. Doesn't get much of a mention these days though. That said I'm not sure I stomach something as sad and depressing now - a comedy eh?!

It's great, but everything after the original 3 seasons is a bit of a chore to get through. Still plenty of funny moments, but it doesn't compare. There was no need to bring it back.

And whilst the original Office is getting mentioned, I think Extras is extremely underrated among Gervais' body of work, and British comedy in general.
