I won't be too hard on the lads tonight, could they have done more? Yes.

What lost us the match was Ole's stubbornness in making a sub. The match could have been won in extra time but we did feck all because we were knackered.

De Gea let down everyone on penalties and not because he missed either.

I think Matic experience would have helped in midfield. Should have started instead of Mctominay.

Words can’t describe how disappointed I am to lose the final. Didn’t play well enough over 120 minutes to win the match. Great penalty shoot out, took al or of guts to take it that far, but watching how easy they stroked the ball past De Gea was soul crushing.

Firstly I though we picked the wrong team. Fred should have started over Rashford, we went too attacking from the whistle and had no where to go to change the game, got a lucky goal in the 2nd half but it was still tough. As I’ve always said, STOP playing three strikers!!!

We are going to be the butt of jokes this summer and have to take it on the chin, this ain’t a winning team yet.

Well I’ve had enough of United for a summer. Hopefully a fruitful summer transfer window will see us turn these finals into wins. Roll on the Euros!!!

Ole cost us. Rashford was a passenger the entire 120 minutes, but anyone who's watched us recently could have anticipated that. Then to not make a single sub until extra time is just terrible management.
Totally agree. Rashford was horrific. One of the worst ever performances from a United player in a final. He didn't only play bad, his body language was also terrible the whole game as well.

Ole has a blind spot with Rashford. It's purely favouritism.

People can shit chat about McTominay all they fecking want but he was pur best player tonight.

Maybe if our other so called top player performed, we'd have finished this game in normal time.

People will of course blame Ole but his players let him down tonight. That front four should have got the job done. Not good enough. Im gutted. Really am!
Agree with this.
Our first 11 was good enough to beat them, we fell into their trap.
Dominated the game but failed to make it pay.

They played for penalties from the second half.

Football is a bloody hard game to watch sometimes, 3 hours of my life and it was painful.

Both teams were fecking crap (and I would say the same if we had won!).

I'm sorry but how can we continue with Ole, that was amateurish from a management perspective. No subs for 90 mins?? what the actual feck. Rashy was so bad yet stayed on and our best player Mason off?

The only criticism is we could have used deano instead of DDG for pens.

But thats hindsight.

It was always going to be a lottery. We played well enough to win, but lack that cutting edge and final ball.

If we are able to sign Kane, Sancho etc. then we definitely should without hesitation.

We need more goals in this team.

We also need to ship out lindelof. Has been fecking woeful this season. Our weakest link along with Fred. Those two need replacing in the first team.

Roll on next season and the desperate hope we buy enough decent players to cover for our complete lack of tactical acumen I guess

3 shots on target in 120 minutes. Can't complain about not winning. Didn't do enough.
Absolutely this. Everything else (DDG being a pen horrorshow) is just noise. We simply didn't create enough. Really hope we do the decent thing and bring in some players (C/DM and a RW) and come back stronger never year. I can't lie though, that was pretty depressing.

Like most big games we have played, we shat the bed when it mattered. Don't care about the pens, we didn't raise our game against an inferior side. Too many players played shite tonight. Those fecks settled for pens after 55 min. I'm livid.

While several players didn't turn up, and de gea was awful with penalties yet again, it's obvious that this one is on Ole.

He had no answers to them and wouldn't even use his subs to make any impact. This isn't the first time.

We never controlled the game like favourites due to our midfield selection. We were on top for short spells and got lucky with our goal. I’m an Ole fan but he choked there tonight with Rashford and not bringing in Henderson for the penos. Ddg didn’t even go the right way once. Can’t wait till Sancho makes Rashford rotation. Can’t come too soon. We will never win anything relying on Rashford as one of our main creators. Could have played 5 hours tonight and he’d still be smashing it into a defender or losing it

There is gonna be a series of knee-jerk reactions in this thread.

Nope, I can't be assed reading them.

Not sure about starting him, but he should have come on instead of Fred. A bit of composure and looking after the ball was what we desperately needed.

Are we in ' Ole Out' mode?
It feels pretty shit. I don’t think it is, I don’t think we will, but I don’t have any real hope of us collecting major trophies under Ole.

We can all call for more investment, more transfers, but that squad is a mile better than theirs. It’s a complete embarrassment.

It is the Europa league so it barely registers compared to the pain of the CL losses. Much more disappointing is how poorly we played and how our so called big players didn't show up.

Don't know where to begin really.

Rashford was awful, so many people didn't show up as well though. Don't think the game management was good enough, not that he had much quality to bring on, but I don't think you can just leave people on the bench.

Pens is a lottery, but De Gea just is a non event. We pay him 300k a week and he didn't even once trouble any of the takers.

To be fair we were awful. First half bad, whole of extra time dead. Second half we should have won it, but even then we didn't do nearly enough.

Penalties is a lottery, but I never fancied De Gea to save a single penalty, so when that happens you're a bit fecked.

Disastrous end to the season.

The loss hurts but anyone can lose on pens, and fair fecks to both teams - there were some great penalties in there. Villarreal deserved it overall I’d say.

We simply didn’t do enough to win it, we had 120 minutes to make something happen and couldn’t. I know it’s a final and it’s a tense affair but our goal was basically a lucky fluke and we literally created nothing else. We also conceded from a set piece - again. I’m actually sick of saying that. I think serious questions need to be asked now.

What an absolute horrible final. Awful performance, no coaching what so ever, no changes on time, Rashford playing his worst game for the club. And don't get me started on David and the penalties. So, so disappointed and angry.

I'm not upset, I love United but the little guy won. Congrats to Villareal, it's some achievement to win it when half of their population can fit in the stadium. We are going the right way with Cavani, and Bruno, but we need killers in this team which we don't have. Love De Gea but he's just poor at saving penalties and he saved us in Rome, but we need winners in this team, maybe some body like Ronaldo or Kane or Haaland , who would have surely found the net. We didn't finish them off, and they won. Rashford is great and talented and has the pace to fear the best defender in the world , but he's no striker and I have been seeing him for years now, yet he still always manages to fluff his shot or get it stuck under his feet while shooting in the box.

That's nothing, there's an entire forum with a blind spot for 10 other players.

I'm confused....when exactly has Henderson showed his prowess at saving penalties??
He hasn't proven to be absolute dogshit at them, as De Gea has countless times. I'd have fecking Lee Grant in for pens over De Gea.

Woeful. Really can't recall either keeper having any saves of note to make all evening. Ole's in game management once again seems shocking. People coming out and saying he didn't make a sub because we were in control astounds me we may aswell of played with 10 for all that rashford contributed but no,keep him on and substitute greenwood instead.Gutless performance and that comes from the very top. If anyone seriously thinks this charlatan is going to win anything meaningful at United they really need to give there heads a shake. Got exactly what they deserved...

Sorry to add, Ole decided that let's go to penalties. Zero effort is extra time to win the game. Let them have the ball, we will built from the back. Such a joke.
