I'll be shocked if United don't hire Conte. OK he won't stay for 5 years but almost no manager does these days but I'm sure he'd finish with 90+ points at least once in next two seasons.
Problem is England. He and his family didn't settle in London, not sure Manchester would be any better for them. I have a feeling he is too 'Latin' so Spain will appeal more and if not there or Italy then France over England or Germany.

Ye I never understood United not going to Conte.
He is the best manager to rebuild the team back to PL victory in the short term.
He lasts 3years but that will give at least a PL win to United.
Just he wants Lukaku so get ready :P
He’s a guarantee title winner. The guys a domestic league freak. We’d prefer to just lament about the “long term” he’d do instead — as we continue our now 7 year league drought.

Conte to RM seems a strange one to me considering the importance they place on the CL and his less than stellar record in European competition.

He'll go to Real now probably. They won't like his record in Europe but that's why they'll sack him at some point in 2022/23 season. It's not a problem for Perez sacking managers especially if they have better one lined up. Don't think there's better one available for them atm with Allegri going to Juve.

Replacing him with Simone Inzaghi. Feels like a ridiculous step down in quality.

He has done good work at Lazio over the last couple of years. If Inter had money to spend, you could bet him bringing in Milinkovic-Savic or Alberto

He's a decent manager but definitely not Conte's level.

Also, considering that Conte left due to problems regarding spending. I actually don't think Inter are planning to spend big. Won't surprise me if they bought Inzaghi just for this, they'll sell some stars, don't spend enough and hope that Inzaghi will do well with what's left and keep them top 3 while Conte would have moaned non stop about it.

What is this long term thing we're making progressing for while most of the other european big teams are picking the trophies switching manager every 2-3 years?

Inzaghi did pretty good work with a very thin Lazio squad, with little financial support. If not for the COVID break last season they likely would have won Serie A as they were steamrolling everyone prior.

I feel we need a better manager to propel us to titles. But no way is Ole getting the sack anytime soon. Bad timing all around.

Should have got him after Mourinho was fired.

Wouldn't surprise me if Ole gets a Jones-esqe extension over the Summer.

Who can they get that would be a step down in quality? Conte has one of the best league records in the world. He’s Horseshit in Europe mind

I thought they'll go for Allegri. Though it seems he's going to Madrid anyway.

The glazers would never go near Conte. Conte wants to be the best, wants to win titles. Is ruthlessly demanding of clubs and players at the club. Glazers just want to make profits so they can pay themselves handsome dividends and dont care about titles.

Couldn't you say all those things about Mourinho?

Except Mourinho falls out with everyone and sulks

Yes you could definitely. However mourinho is the conte of 10-15 years ago. Hes long since lost his midas touch.

If your desperate to win titles there are few managers who are as close to a sure thing: Guardiola, Conte, Allegri, Simeone and Mourinho. Apart from guardiola the other four are all about results and are demanding of their clubs. Theres a reason why the owners of arsenal and utd wont go anywhere near them. Because for those managers just qualifiying for CL every season isnt enough or good enough and they will make it known they think that.

But going back to the post, you said that the Glazer's would never go near Conte yet they went for Mourinho and broke the transfer record at the time under him.

Maybe now their ambition has changed but I think they'll go for whoever makes them the most money and if that's Conte then they'll get him.

Surely he wouldn’t be happy with the budget etc there?

Would be surprised, just because Spurs wont give him the players he wants, especially quantity.

Would be a great pick for them though, no one better on the market currently

Yes, so was Jose. That turned out really well too.

If he wants a job immediately, rather than wait for the next guy to get sacked, it’s probably his best option.
What I find exciting about Conte is not only is he one of the best managers in the game right now - he will no doubt have demands re: budget, etc. that Levy will need to agree to if he comes in. We do need to spend big this summer whether we sell Kane or we keep him.

Red Card for Casemiro!
Top top manager, would get a lot out of the Spurs squad, especially if they keep Kane. United should be a little worried if this does go through. We're closer to 4th than 1st, and transfer windows aren't really our thing these days.

Signing Conte now is like signing Jose about 10 years ago - Conte is coming off a league win - Jose was on the slide.
Jose was on the slide? I mean he won the title 2 seasons before that.

Love how people also gloss over the fact he got knocked out the CL completely. Not 3rd.. bottom of the table.

Of course Jose was on the slide - everybody in here was very quick to confirm this to me as soon as he signed for Spurs. You cant compare Jose of today with Conte of today.
