Another question about staff? The last one was Howe snubbing Celtic because he wanted - but were not allowed - to bring his own staff. I guess it´s not so easy for the clubs to sack people either.

Yep.

I think that realistically, both DDG and Lingard are going to be leaving. That's an additional £40m-£50m in the coffers.

Then one of Pogba and Martial is also likely to leave imo. Otherwise it'd be 7 options for 3 spaces:
RW - Sancho, Amad
CF - Cavani, Greenwood
LW - Rashford, Pogba/Martial

Whichever out of those two goes, that's another £30m-£70m on top of the figure above.

Taken as a total, we could possibly even afford to buy two further additions. But most probably it'll be one squad player and one prospect if we're being honest.
You think we'll get a fee for De gea? From who? Sanchez style loan at best imo. Also Lingard has only a year left. 40-50m for those two is a fantasy.

We won't be getting a fee for De Gea. As reported by the Manchester press pack, we'd have to get him out similar to Alexis Sanchez by subsidising his wage.

Amazing that we are so bad we still have to pay other clubs to take our players. Learned nothing .

We did though, through intermediaries
The postmortem articles that came out after said we didnt?
I cant stand this narrative that we thought Dortmund would bend, we didnt think he was worth it and didnt pay to the point it was radio silence between the 2 clubs over the last few weeks of the window.
Dortmund were the most bullish club I have ever seen with their taunts through the media. Its bordering on insulting that people pretend we would think there would be a u turn. Its obvious nonsense.

The article mentions that the gap in valuation is related to add-ons. We're prepared to commit around £80m but Dortmund are trying to get an extra £20m in achievable add-ons.

Always worth taking with a pinch of salt, but I thought the only "reputable" journos were reporting we did?
Then it was leaked that we never made a bid because of the potential embarassment of having it refused? I have no doubt we waited until the window closed but its not as underhanded as made out imo.
Last summer was an eye opener for me, it seems we genuinely have few leaks from our transfer department. All of our news breaks first elsewhere from their trusted sources.

The gap is 20m in add-ons I imagine this will get done or is this the same story as last year?

Iirc the journos claimed we bid the 80+20 last summer and it was rejected. Dortmund wanted €120 mil.

This is getting done this summer. Not even United can feck this up.

£20m if we win the Quadruple and Sancho scores the winner in every final

Guess we'll never know, although the sooner the Sancho deal is put to bed one way or another the better really. Whatever the reality, I don't think either clubs can come out of it with their heads held particularly high.

And that there is room for compromise, which is arguably even more important.

BBC Sport understands Solskjaer has identified four areas of improvement - in attack, central midfield, central defence and a right-sided attacking player - although the Norwegian, who is set to get a contract extension this summer, accepts addressing all these issues will be difficult given the enormous impact Covid-19 has had on the club's finances.

A centre-back is also on the agenda, with Raphael Varane and Pau Torres leading candidates.

Sources close to United have felt Varane would end up signing a new contract at Real Madrid but the dynamic has shifted in recent days. However, Madrid are said to want significantly more than the reported £35 million despite Varane, a 74-cap France international at 28, having one year left on his current contract. United’s budget would not stretch to that extent if they get Sancho.

Torres, 24, impressed against United in last month’s Europa League final but Villarreal’s qualification to the Champions League as a result of their penalty shootout victory lessens the pressure on the Spanish team to cash in. Those familiar with the club and Torres, who is part of Spain’s Euros squad, believe that while United appeal, his preference would be to wait for a possible bid from Real Madrid or Barcelona.

The only thing they need to answer is how much money are they going to put back into the club? The stadium is looking worse for wear and the whole team needs investment. Are they going to stop taking loadsamoney out?

Seems there is a trend of English media quoting prices around 20m higher than the final price (and that that is too expensive for United), to make it look like we are shrewd negotiatiors.

Happened with Maguire (95m), AWB (70m), VdB (55m) and Bruno (70m)

By mess it up, do you mean not bow down to any price/terms a selling club asks for?

(Edit. Imagine the meltdown on here if we spent £120m on Sancho and the club said that's the tfr budget gone.)
No, I mean the difference in valuation is 20m in add ons so it shouldn't be too much trouble to sort out.

If they spend the whole budget on one player or are in negotiations for a player that could take up the whole budget then they're even stupider than we thought.
