First question should be - "why has it taken you so long?"

Are you serious? Of course we gonna negotiate the price on a player. There are no fixed prices in football (if not concrete release fees).Woody would not do his job if he did not negotiate and try getting us the best deal possible.
I think it’s fair to assume we over negotiate and that is even less likely to get the price down in any given window. Given the amounts we will have saved on players after the marathon sagas - Sancho- 10/20 million?, Maguire- nothing pretty much, his price went up if anything, Bruno- about 5 million. For those figures wouldn’t we have just been better off to pay up and have a season extra from a great player and a much more stable club in general? If we’d got Sancho last summer we wouldn’t have to bow out of the race for Kane. Our bargaining tactics set us behind and slow the rebuild down to a walking pace and save us about the same amount of money we pay numerous deadwood players each year to not play for us

Your reply suggested they have personal responsibility for the clubs debt. Sorry if I read that wrong.
You must know that they are responsible for placing that debt on the club. Hence their debt.

Clearly, as it stands, the club are responsible for their debt, which is why I hope this subject is clearly talked about today.

It’s the deals there and then but it’s also a precedent for further negotiations. If we just payed a fixed price from the selling club the price would just move up and up. A player is only worth the amount the market wants to pay. Last year Dortmund stuck to their price as the incentive to sell was not there (don’t know why). This year they have huge losses, want to keep Haaland and also have a gentleman agreement with the player. He will be allowed to go and they will negotiate with us.

I just can’t believe people think it’s a smart idea to buy a player for a fixed sum. All big transfers are negotiated one way or another. Especially in the middle of a pandemic.

Anyone expecting anything with any substance - I've got a bridge to sell you.

Will be a load of guff to appease an increasingly angry and frustrated fan-base. All talk, no action as usual.

American's don't generally do well buying bridges from the UK tbh.

"Mr Glazer, your ownership seems to have the popularity of a runaway freight train. Why are you so unpopular?"
Well as long as your asking something, can I ask you to assuage my fears that he's contaminating the club in a matter that may one day render it unsustainable?

Cruise into town, assure the fans we "want what you want", that there are big plans "afoot" for both improving the....roster, and the infrastructure around the stadium/area etc.

Create some board where they can position a couple of mouthy anti Glazer types, who funnilly enough then become Glazer patsies.

And then we can enjoy a summer of long winded pursuits.

Let's go.

Put it this way, If Joel Glazer isn’t prepared to go out and sign Harry Kane and anyone else that’s nailed on world class this summer, after all that’s gone on, he’s basically never really going to give us that kind of summer unless we fall out of the CL again maybe. We will get Sancho and that’ll be the main transfer and that’s fair enough but we are making a meal out of this rebuild. Liquidate the squad that doesn’t get used. It’s a lot of money. I’m intrigued to see what Murtough and fletcher have come up with and hope Joel doesn’t mess up their plans or stall their negotiations. I hope to see us keep cutting players.

The stadium is a deal breaker

Fans need to take some power back and the glazers eventually need to reduce the debt. It’s a perfect marriage of interests. Glazers hopefully let something like this happen but I’m not holding my breath.

It’s just going to be generic apologies and vague promises while they hope things die down.
If you think this is a given, I'd perhaps manage your expectations a little pal.

For these sagas to regularly go on so long it feels to me like we must be going in quite a bit lower than market value and then very slowly eking our way back up to a more realistic valuation but by then it’s too late for the selling club to replace the outgoing player so we wait till next year…

I get what you’re saying, you’d be mad to go and just give Dortmund 120 flat out first week of the window last season. I totally get that. Its just most clubs once they make their mind up can get their signings in earlish and with less fuss and drama. We didn’t have covid as an excuse for Bruno or Harry. It’s just how we operate. It has nothing to do with Dortmund.

I feel like Joel being in america bargaining through Ed and Matt really slows everything down to a crawl and it probably rubs the selling clubs up the wrong way with us taking so long to move so little. I also feel It’s probably easier for Joel to play these games to save money when he doesn’t have to do the business face to face himself. Same with leaving the manager short on quality going into a season. He’s never here so It doesn’t make any difference to him day to day or week to week if we get a deal done or not or if the stadium is falling apart. All that matters at the end of the day is saving a million or two and keeping the fans off his back for as long as possible while they bank their cash.

The only thing is we are one of only about 5 clubs who have that kind of spending power to keep the selling clubs hanging on even if they are totally frustrated with a lack of progress. It might make us look smart at the end of the day but for 5/10 million here and there I say just do the deal and be much more ruthless when cutting players at the other end who rarely feature.

"Bunch of internet fans who never go to games, yet think they're experts on everything"
will definitely not be a soundbite of the unoffical minutes.
Yes because those match-going lads are so well-respected by the Glazers and they make sure they are taken care of when they attend games with free organic showers and no distractions, such as WiFi.

Morally, sure.

Legally? No. The only way the Glazers pay off the clubs debt is if they leverage another one of their sport clubs or businesses with a enormous loan to pay off the clubs debt. That is not remotely realistic unfortunately.

His answer "Hey guys, never mind that, I'm actually sat here with our newest recruit Jason Sancho, who I believe will be a great addition to the left attacker forward role"
And the fans will smile and cheer him and Sancho on.

Argh! I’m nervous for the fans and the quotes/outcome.
The meeting notes are released months later, so you'll be in for a wait.

Though maybe they'll make an exception for this one as it is so high profile and will come under increased pressure to release them early.

I’m hopeful the gist of the meeting will be out in the public domain by this evening this time around.

If he doesn’t make concessions the fans should pull a game of thrones on Joel and make him walk through the streets on Manchester naked and apologising

No one wants to see that. It worked in GoT because Cersei was hot. Joel, not so much, unless you're into that.
