credit to the ref. I thought he noticed pretty quickly, certainly quicker than the players.

Surely they won't play the game...

Imagine if Eriksen got himself off the gurney like Mankind at Hell in the Cell and got back on the pitch to score the winner!

The images look promising so let's hope he recovers and the game can be rescheduled.

I doubt he would have went throughout all this career with an undiagnosed heart condition. I think it's probably a sudden heart attack and nothing else.
Players go through few tests including resting ECG, Stress ECG and echocardiography. But even these test can miss an underlying heart condition.

Outrage over TV rules rather than a clear lack of high end medical equipment by the pitch?? Ugh
I was tongue in cheek complaining about the stadium just before but yeah I'm surprised how poor and disorganised it all was..

This is incredible news. The 1st responders and even the ref who acted instantly deserve never ending praise if this turns out positive
I thought they were slow tbh

But nobody knew the seriousness of the situation at that moment. Anyway, hope he recovers.
The seriousness was obvious within about 30 seconds of it happening. They showed it for minutes. The reaction of the players made that very obvious, paired with the collapse and complete stillness.

My uncle died of a heart attack while jogging at a local park. Nobody knows how long he was there until they found him. He was on life support for a few days but couldn't pull through. For situations like this every second is crucial.
Sorry to hear pal.
I do a load of running, and races and all that.
Back in 2015, on a hot, humid half marathon I felt wrong from about 2miles, and basically collapsed over the line. Had a year of all the tests, the Muamba condition was specifically mentioned as a possibility etc.
Got through it all and back racing in the end, but it never leaves my thoughts, or makes me think about things.

Stadium announcer now says he’s been taken to the hospital and match suspended with further updates at 19:45 local time. So 20 mins from now.

You think? I thought they were really slow to act. Left him in the recovery position and no one seemed to clock on he wasn't conscious or breathing. Wasn't impressed at all.

They did use a defib and you have to do compressions along side it. It's not one or the other. But they did use one.

The Twitter picture looks like he's with it but I agree it didn't look good at all.

Yeah all defibs are automated. He was definitely shocked a few times so his heart had 100% stopped. It won't shock you otherwise.

They did have one and used it.
On your first post I agree. They just brought the teams medics on for what felt like a lifetime before brining the docs and equipment on.

I actually thought he just had like a fit or something only I suppose semi serious because no one seemed to be rushing.

But he should have went through these tests several times in his career not just once or twice. It's a possibility, but I think it's highly unlikely, or that's what I'm hoping.

Ref and Schmeichel were great. I thought the medial and physio staff were really slow to be honest. Expected much much better and CPR should have started sooner.

Looking like he could be okay. Really hope so with no other damage. Come on mate.

The ref and the first medics were as quick as possible but the doctors were lightly jogging with the stretcher / breathing equipment which seemed odd.

I'm blown away most of you are still at the stadium with the game suspended. I guess there's a chance it resumes too...

I'm sorry for the wording, but feck off TVI. You are scum and the only thing that matters is money. Sport TV is a greedy business but at least they showed some freaking compassion.

I'm out of posts for today, so that's it for me today. Looks like he's fine. That's all that truly matters.
Oh yeah they're aweful, CMTV lite, but when the footy is on I can't resist watching them.

I hope everything turns out ok for him, I still have the memory of Feher in my mind and it's been almost 20 years.

I don't blame anyone for overreacting to that footage. It was horrific, terrifying and at one point I was certain he was dead. Not out of danger yet of course but please make a full recovery.

Quoting this as I agree the first paragraph is important.

BBC are getting slated on twitter and rightly so, that was as scummy as it gets. Their coverage has been diabolical so far.

I doubt many people even know what a defibrillator looks like.

Shades of Grosjean's crash in F1 where everything just stops. Bein saying he's alive and stable en route to the hospital.

Yeah. Can’t believe people are saying that. I’ve the images of the defib seared into my brain. Shocking image.

They weren't slow at all. It took them like 10 seconds to sprint over to him just because he was probably at the furthest point away from the benches.

Questions still need to be asked. Players were rattled. An extremely congested season for them
Actually the amount of matches these players play with no proper rest might be a main reason. Also the intensity of the game has increased very much.

Yeah that was the part that seemed odd to me.

The initial reaction was good but they seemed to hesitating like they needed a signal to come on or something?

Anyway, the main thing is it seems they have saved him fingers crossed.

Kasper was great going over to his wife to comfort her. Anthony Taylor acted really quickly kudos to them and all the medical staff.

Probably happened in worst part of the pitch tbf, right by corner flag and opposite end to the dugouts where medical staff are located.

Perhaps in future have a club doctor or medic placed behind each goal just in case.

Players were waving frantically but sometimes from that distance difficult to see at first aswell.

Someone should have recognised he had stopped breathing much sooner. Instead the physios put him in the recovery position and then waited for the medics. I assume they panicked but it's basic stuff and can make all the difference.
