It would be a huge slap in the face to Shaw and Chillwell if this news about playing a RB as a LB is true. You play players out of position when you need to, not when you have 2 fantastic left backs available to you (who are better full backs than the their rumoured replacement anyway).

Shaw is literally the best full back in the squad - all round. Grealish should be an automatic starter. Surely you don't play a weakened side against Croatia? Crazy stuff.

Sounds like Southgate is relying on a set piece to win the game. The only reason I can see Trippier in the team.

But Harry Kane's going to take the freekicks and Mason Mount is quality on corners. Makes no sense at all.

England squad is absolutely beast... You guys will be fine. Those rumoured XI's are mindboggling though.

What an absolute buffoon that man is. Great time to be a United and England fan.

Doesn't help himself does he? No Shaw or Chilwell is ridiculous

Surely the only explaination is that he is intentionally trying to finish 2nd. :houllier:

That is a very strange first team Southgate has picked, think Croatia will have a field day on the ball

Southgate has just saved me 2 hours of my weekend for which I’m very grateful

Oh god.

What 'rising stars' did we have in 2014 ?

Anyway, sounds somewhat familiar.
Ross Barkley, Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere and all.

When you look at the starting lineups of Italy vs England that day too that level of punditry almost ceases to be funny and actually becomes frightening: apparently Gary Cahill, Phil jageilka, Glen Johnson, Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson are all better plays than De Rossi, Pirlo, Verratti, Marchiso, and Giorgio fecking Chiellini :houllier: :houllier: :houllier: :houllier:

Anyway, back on topic, this England for once actually does justify optimism for England fans. Think England will do well.

Mings will make a mistake that leads to a penalty or goal.

I'd suggest good odds that he gets sent off, VAR means there's no hiding place for his thug idiocy.

England 3-0. Trippier brace, Mings one - bullet header (from a Trippier corner).

I find it incredible that Southgate would rather have two keepers on the bench rather than one of Europe’s most creative players
