It still reeks of a contract plot. Highly doubt its happening given that Ramos has left as well.
it's alleged the contract on the table is asking him to take a pay cut. Whats the contract ploy? To up the current offer back to his current wage?It still reeks of a contract plot. Highly doubt its happening given that Ramos has left as well.
Once it is reported on ESPN, the odds of the transfer happening is very high.It still reeks of a contract plot. Highly doubt its happening given that Ramos has left as well.
Maybe you're right. However does Real afford giving him that salary? Don't forget that this would cause a chain reaction were everyone will be asking for silly salaries in reaction to it. We've seen that happening with Sanchez. Can Real tank that?It still reeks of a contract plot. Highly doubt its happening given that Ramos has left as well.

So the offer is to take a cut in pay, varane wants more than his current contract. If Real Madrid fold, they open the door to even worse financial pressures....and they want mbappe at some point. Does Madrid blow up their wage bill or cash in on him? only time will tell.At present, Real have received no indication that Varane is willing to accept their new contract offer, which was tabled this summer. Real’s proposal involves Varane taking a pay cut, which he is not willing to accept. It is not out of the question that Varane could end up staying at the Bernabéu, but he wants an improved salary and assurances from the new head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, that he is in his plans.
Varane was criticized for those mistakes, and would be criticized if he does something similar with us. What is your point?I know not the league.. but this shit show will take some forgetting.
Lindelof would be crucified if he did one of those...
Or it's just a sign that madrid's finances are almost as fecked as barca's and if they want big money players in the future, they'll need some sales and wage cuts?If Madrid are offering him a pay cut, it sounds to me like they are trying to engineer a transfer this summer. Maybe not a good sign and doesn’t fit the narrative that “they want to keep him so he must be good” but it’s Varane, he’s not an unknown entity and you very much know what you are getting.
If we believe Hirst, then why did Madrid bring in Alaba on huge wages (12M Euros Net), unless what is reported as was Alaba wages are not true.Hirst:

This match for Varane was something similar of the Vidic vs Torres at Liverpool, he was horrible, but you just know it's very very rarely happening and what he brings on the table 99% of the time will redeem this 10 times.I know not the league.. but this shit show will take some forgetting.

Ffs it isnt Hartlepool ...he is leaving one of the great clubs for another. Besides people do like a change from time to time. Also apparently Rio was his idol so theres that.Yeh. Really see no reason, other than money (which is a good reason for any pro), of why he wants to leave Madrid to United. But strange things happen.
Hirst is right up there with the top sources, if he's hearing about wage cuts, it's likely because that's what the club has been told in terms of why they think they can get him.If we believe Hirst, then why did Madrid bring in Alaba on huge wages (12M Euros Net), unless what is reported as was Alaba wages are not true.
we know also that Modric extended with a pay cut, so it is not unusual for RM to offer new contracts with pay cuts, what is very strange is the huge salary given to Alaba.
I only watch Madrid in the CL but from what I've seen there they leave their CBs very exposed. He would get a lot more cover at Utd.Id happy to be wrong - but I always thought this too. Varane was only as good as the rest of the Madrid squad was - especially the defensive partners.
I really doubt if he played for a different team that we would be salivating over him as much.
Who know.
Don't want to sound too negative but the same could be said about Sanchez before we signed him I think. Still remember the caf was over the moon back then.If Madrid are offering him a pay cut, it sounds to me like they are trying to engineer a transfer this summer. Maybe not a good sign and doesn’t fit the narrative that “they want to keep him so he must be good” but it’s Varane, he’s not an unknown entity and you very much know what you are getting.
Or stopping your fart while pissing.Cold showers and the hopes of finding a unicorn go hand in hand.
True. Regardless of their motive I want him here and I think we will get him too. Madrid will get £50m for him and will invest it where they feel they need to.Or it's just a sign that madrid's finances are almost as fecked as barca's and if they want big money players in the future, they'll need some sales and wage cuts?
Got to remember, barca and Real were desperate for the ESL because it gave them a new revenue base....Perez essentially said the whole point of the ESL was to stabilise and keep the big team going with their crazy fees and wages.
Sure but why not do that about any transfer. Every transfer is a risk, who do you see as less risky than Varane @ £50m?Don't want to sound too negative but the same could be said about Sanchez before we signed him I think. Still remember the caf was over the moon back then.
Spanish clubs are skint, they want players to take pay cuts to counter the money the money they've lost during covid. Plus, Real are trying their best to get themselves in the right position to get Mbappe either this or next summer, he's going to want obscene wages and signing on fee too.It still reeks of a contract plot. Highly doubt its happening given that Ramos has left as well.
Perhaps the free transfer played a role in him getting that wage, I am not sure, Alaba is not a player that needs enticing to come to Madrid, He is good LB/CB, who can also play in midfield also, but he is no VVD level defender that you pay such a huge salary for.Hirst is right up there with the top sources, if he's hearing about wage cuts, it's likely because that's what the club has been told in terms of why they think they can get him.
Regarding Alaba, because he was a free transfer? That always comes with inflated wages to entice the player.
I'm talking about the similarities between Sanchez and this deal. Both are quality for their current clubs, both looking for a last big contract.True. Regardless of their motive I want him here and I think we will get him too. Madrid will get £50m for him and will invest it where they feel they need to.
Sure but why not do that about any transfer. Every transfer is a risk, who do you see as less risky than Varane @ £50m?
Show me a player who hasn't had a shit game in their life.I know not the league.. but this shit show will take some forgetting.

They're trying to get multiple players to take pay cuts so they can sign Mbappe. Did you not see the story of Ramos calling everyone in the squad and telling them not to take a pay cut for that reason? They've gone mad.If Madrid are offering him a pay cut, it sounds to me like they are trying to engineer a transfer this summer. Surprised Perez doesn't expect them to work at Real for free, as it's an "honour to play for the white shirt of Madrid"They're trying to get multiple players to take pay cuts so they can sign Mbappe. Manchester United have been in dialogue with Real Madrid over Raphael Varane as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer turns his attention to signing a centre-half after securing a £72.9 million deal for Jadon Sancho.
Real are thought to want at least €60m (£51.7m) for Varane, who has entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Bernabeu and has so far given the Madrid giants little encouragement that he is prepared to sign a new deal after growing frustrated by his treatment.
United consider that excessive given Varane’s contract situation and the current economic realities as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and insist any further transfer deals will have to represent good value.
Real need to sell in order to release funds to aid Carlo Ancelotti’s rebuild of the squad but, having already seen captain Sergio Ramos depart, the prospect of the club allowing two players who have formed the backbone of four European Cup-winning teams to leave in the same summer would be a big step to take.
Longer contract with higher wages than he is currently on, given that this might be his last big contract extension.it's alleged the contract on the table is asking him to take a pay cut. Whats the contract ploy? To up the current offer back to his current wage?
Did they offer a pay cut the previous years too? The surprising thing is that the wage cut talks only come from England, I skeptical about these reports because they don't actually match with previous reports about contract offers. If Madrid are offering him a pay cut, it sounds to me like they are trying to engineer a transfer this summer. Well that part isn't true.Longer contract with higher wages than he is currently on, given that this might be his last big contract extension.
Besides, I thought the Spanish duo were backed by government indirectly. How did they manage to go this skint.

https://www.marca.com/en/football/real-madrid/2021/05/28/60b0b4d8268e3e9f528b4641.htmlDirectors and main executives have seen their income reduced by 10 percent, as was agreed in face of the financial situation created by the pandemic.
The Real Madrid playing squad and staff have negotiated their own individual deals after an overall pay cut figure was rejected, and they are all now aware of their own personal reductions.
It doesn't answer the point about the contract offer made to Varane earlier that he also rejected. It's also not about future contracts but about current deals.https://www.marca.com/en/football/real-madrid/2021/05/28/60b0b4d8268e3e9f528b4641.html
So as a group they rejected a cut, seemingly new contracts are being offered with one.
He didnt reject it. The offer is still on the table and /varane can still sign it.It doesn't answer the point about the contract offer made to Varane earlier that he also rejected. It's also not about future contracts but about current deals.
I'm talking about offers made in 2019 and 2020.He didnt reject it. The offer is still on the table and /varane can still sign it.
Its like the De Gea contract. The offer was given to De gea in July and he signed it in Sept. Otherwise, De Gea goes away on a free transfer.
Also wouldn't be the first time it would be mentioned in this thread either. It's very clearly not the case here. Could he stay at Madrid? He may well do so, but by all accounts, he's already rejected previous contract offers and Madrid may not be able to offer an improved contract given current circumstances.Hope we are not being used again to get a Madrid player a better contract…..certainly wouldn’t be the first time….
Probably you're right. He might get tired living in Spain and playing for Madrid, while winning so many trophies. Playing for a struggling United and living in Manchester might appeal this 28 y.o. player.Ffs it isnt Hartlepool ...he is leaving one of the great clubs for another. Besides people do like a change from time to time. Also apparently Rio was his idol so theres that.
