Jumping the gun there by Odgen and ESPN, that's why i don't trust his so called 'sources'. He should really be blacklisted in the tweets thread
Why is this the source to believe instead?

As L'Équipe indicated, this will be a long, drawn-out saga mainly because of Varane's indecisiveness.

Don't get your hopes up for Varane to be a United player.

Just watched the YouTube show with Rio Ferdinand:

Varane is just doing things, massaging the papers, the media papers and the headlines to get a bigger deal at Real Madrid...Real Madrid are not letting Ramos and Varane go in the same window, 100 per cent. He’s not going anywhere, man’s going to get a new deal.

If this is true, he’s quite good at massaging the papers as they are all over this now.

So we are putting this on hold for three weeks so that we can fully focus on Camavinga in the meantime.

He's on less than 200k at Real, we're not going to give him over a 150k wage hike unless we move de Gea or Pogba on. We're not PSG or City, our resources are finite and we're simply not going to cripple ourselves by offering every Tom, Dick and Harry upwards of 300k a week.
I'm sorry but I found this comment laughable given our wage bill over the past 5 years.

After agreeing to pay alexis sanchez 500k a week I wouldnt be surprised by anything.

Dont we have a wage bill similar if not more than city anyway?

Camavinga's taking almost the exact same approach as Varane. He's been quiet and indecisive about his future, too. If we're going to sign a 2nd player, it'll be after a considerable amount of time and some pain along the way.

Very much doubt we're interested in both Varane and Torres.

Partly because it was just MEN who reported it, partly because we don't need two CB signings and partly because Torres will likely be eyeing a move to Real Madrid to replace Varane if he leaves. Doesn't make sense for him to come here to be third choice.
We need squad depth, we can't have either playing every game, it's not healthy plus injuries will occur for sure.

I mean, it would be nice to have them both, in a perfect world.

Feels like a smaller chance that Camavinga stays at his club than Varane.

Rio was just speculating based on his insights as a former player. There's no source behind what he was saying.

Rio's just saying what a lot of fans speculated once they heard the rumour. And it makes sense, it was my first thought too, which is why I refused to get drawn into this at first. But what can I say, I am weak when it comes to muppetry

Call me bias but I’d say United in this moment is a far more exciting project than Real Madrid and PSG.

Madrid are in transition and it’s not their usual “spunk the Royal Bank of Spain up the walls” transition. He’s won everything with them, it can be much of a motivator to start that cycle again at the age of 28.

PSG will probably win Ligue Un next season. Yay. They will probably get to the quarters or semis of the Champions League too. Yay.

United are a giant waking from a slumber. Our squad age is good, we’ve got unbelievable young talent and the Premier League must be incredibly appealing to him. He could become a legend at a club with a history like no others, helping us to win our first league title since Fergie.

Pedri? The one that starts for Spain in the euros in midfield? Why aren't Barca sorting him out? We should try and tempt him to come to Old Trafford. Quality player at such a young age
Thinking the same about Fati, although we're starting to get stacked in these positions

Agree with that mate. It's obvious he likes the Premier League but i worry about his will to live in rainy Manchester. I know Pogba and Martial have no problems living there but to come from sunny Spain to a gloomy city? Hopefully he wants it enough

If Varane wants to wait until the end of July then clearly we should look to move on and see if Christian Romero is available from Atalanta. I'd prefer Varane but we can't wait until right before the season begins to bring in a player that is expected to be a starting XI talent.

yeh, no thanks, his heart just doesn't seem to be with us. Any player who still wouldn't mind staying in their clubs if it's contract issues is just a no go.

We need to move on from this

Would love him here but it has City written all over it. Guardiola connection, Highly technical player, Barca's financial troubles, City needing CMs etc.

He's supposed to be on his holidays now and probably won't join up with the team until late pre-season if he signs, same like Sancho. I think we can afford to wait if he's our first choice and if he has interest to come

We need a CB, but also can't miss the opportunity to sign one of the calibre of Varane. Tough situation for the club... Could be fecked if we wait, and fecked if we don't.

ahhh....but here in lies the issue that we've run into in the past. We find a target(sancho) and we wait trying to sort out the transfer, miss out and end up iwth our dong in our hand without reinforcing the squad.

we can't continue to do that which is why we are behind City right now and soon could be chelsea or scum again.

We have to find option 1b which seems to be Romero and start negotiations with them to hopefully put some pressure on Varane to make a choice. FFS...he can make a bloody choice while sitting on the beach or doing whatever the hell he's doing after the euros.
