Whats happened to hold England down? They’ve played a home tournament basically and cheated to beat Denmark.“
The emotion from the crowd seemed to hinder rather than help England tonight. It was only after 30 minutes, when everything calmed down, that England began to grow into the game.

I'm hoping that today's experience will give the players a better idea of what to expect on Sunday so they won't get so overwhelmed. We can't afford to hand the initiative to Italy for half-an-hour unopposed.

On paper, Italy will be favorites due to them having a much superior midfield. But being on the good side of the draw, beating the Germans, the semi final win with a massive stroke of luck-it seems like the stars are aligning for England. I hope they win it as I'm an England supporter by default due to United players.

Italy will try to win it as early as possible by pressuring Rice and Phillips just like Denmark did. Southgate will probably pick the same team (maybe Grealish for Mount) and tell Saka to help Walker out as that right side is the weaker side of the English defense and I can see Insigne and Chiesa trying their curlers from there.

England need to manage this game smartly. The longer it goes, the better it is for them. Keep it tight, economic, no wasteful giveaways. Bypass Italy's midfield, hit them on the break and play for set pieces. So, nothing new really. It maybe an ugly way to win, but style doesn't matter in a final.

They’ve been good, but had a scare against a poor Austrian side who had a goal taken off by VAR which was maybe two inches offside, then spent the last 25 mins vs. Belgium on their backside, then got dominated by a Spain team which everyone here said was rubbish, not to mention got off with a clear handball in the box in the last minute. Yet, all the “neutrals” are going for them because of “morals” or something.
It really is hypocritical, but there's an anti-England bias on this site and its not just unique to the non-English posters. They go on about England being lucky, yet we've had 55 years of being incredibly unlucky, some luck HAD to come England's way. They are just bitter that England has improved and all their teams failed, plus whatever political or cultural bias they have against us.

Biggest concern fr me against Italy is how we handle the press they put in. We saw England struggle at times when Denmark put a press on and Italy do it all over the front 2/3 of the pitch. With Phillips and Rice not being technical players on the ball, I think we will really struggle fo rthe first half. Spain struggled for 20mins and then there technique really helped them.

Same token, now Spinazzola is out, they dont look too dangerous going forward, very clever on the ball but I tink we can handle there attackign players, the danger is Barella floating and busrting forward I think, we have struggled with a few playes doing that this tournament.

I see a very stressful game on Sunday and not many goals or chances for either side

I've watched England my whole life, and cried at 90, 96 and 18. That wasn't a penalty. You know it, we know it. That was cheap Argentinian fecking garbage. I thought we were the better team, but would've preferred a straight win over a Denmark team that has nothing to be ashmed about and played us the best match we've had in the tournament so far.

Italy should win

Only chance for England is for Southgate to stop playing some of his favourites but given some of those players have started literally every game up till now he's not going to leave them out of the final

On paper we're a brillaintly strong team.

It's just optimism on the naysayers' part that we'll feck up, as we usually do.

We are streets ahead of Denmark, but even so today you can see they defended well against us and we really played within ourselves. We just don't know how to be winners. But that can change.

Italy will control the game, England's midfield was average. Not sure if they can handle their pressing, but the pace of England attack will be the key usual. Not many teams can handle that especially if they play attacking game and push up.

Should be a great game.

As a non-english but still english fan since there are lots of United players I can say it's not bitterness. It's just wanting the game not to be bent.

Even with the home advantage, it's 70-30 in Italy's favor. England are a massive underdog here. Bonucci and Chiellini will pocket Kane and the Italian midfield will overrun Philips and Rice. England will need a miracle to win this final.

Maybe we were right to leave the EU? Why are England so hated? Actually never really understood it.

No team in particular.
Italy is the better team, but i hope they cheat to win.

I hope they get a free penalty in the last minute.

Thankfully Italy are the much more experienced cheats so they should bag this pretty comfortably

Didn't know Danes were such sore losers before this tournament. You love to see it.

I knew England was better, but I did not think we were streets ahead. It was a tough match, and Denmark have performed very well, you can't even say they game raised as they have been very good overral. But I agree, England can learn to be winners, and there will always be naysayers, whether they are rivals or contrarians.

It's going to be tough for England. Italy have a very clever midfield, they'll also use every trick in the book if they get their nose in front to see it out. Will have to be a colossal physical effort from Rice and Phillips to make up for the difference in quality in there, but there's no doubt if they can get the likes of Sterling and Saka facing up some of these Italian defenders they won't enjoy it either.
The Juventuz English-language forum fears the English pace going against Chiellini and Bonucci.

England went out to Maradona handballing it into the net way back, Beckham getting provoked by Simeone. I could go on. The one time England happens to get through by luck of a dive, people all start getting angry. It's hypocrisy. Let us not forget how Germany last beat England in 2011...

Italy can destroy England but Sterling will probably drop in the box because that's all he's good for so you wouldn't know...

On natural ability Italy piss all over this England team

The Danes really did amazing to get to where they did, shame to see some being so bitter and twisted over it. We might have got a pen from a dive, but we were the only team looking to win it for most of the game.

I hope it was the same people who were moaning about Italy 'cheating' against Belgium and Spain that we're defending England and Sterling tonight

They will also be outraged when Italy shithouse their way past England on Sunday.

I hope we play with some pace against that Italy defence, surely we will?

Please?
I can't see England going gung ho when you look at how the first halves went tonight and v Germany. Bright for first 10 minutes then it's drop deep and try to get through first hour level.

One thing is Italy flagged once it got to 70 minutes in last two games so that's when Southgate needs to be bold if it's 1-1 but even tonight he was a bit reluctant so not convinced he's suddenly going to roll the dice in a major final.

I genuinely don't give a feck if Sterling does the same again Sunday, most of us will probably never see anything like this from our national team, I'll take it anyway we can. Sore losers on the internet aren't spoiling it for me.

Normally I would have instantly supported England in that match up, but now my fingers are solely crossed for drama and reactions on here when Veratti and co shits their way to victory, just to read the reactions on here

Nah on coaching and settup they are better. On talent, it’s England by a mile. Rashford had barely played a minute and he would be Italy’s best attacker.

Doesn't need to be gung ho, but I feel like we lacked pace today and it cost us a bit, didn't get in behind Denmark nearly enough.
