We're lucky because we can't lose today - we'll be happy if England win, we'll be just as happy if Italy win (edit - we'll be a bit happier if Italy win in reality, but as someone who remembers watching the WC final in 1966 it'll be good for England to win something again).

Our little village has put a big screen up in the Piazza, so most folk will go up there I think. We'll watch at home and be diplomatic, in case Italy loses. :)

100% agree with this.
Agree with it also. I can't stand International friendlies though but nothing beats these big International tournaments.
I just wish the Irish government and FAI would get their finger out and invest in Grass roots football and the proper development of our young players.
We haven't had a good team in nearly 20 years, christ that's embarrassing.
There's nothing wrong with the Irish stock either. Players like Grealish and Rice show that.
We need to work on developing our own top young talent other than trying to snatch those already developed by another country. Its cringeworthy.

3 at the back is an odd choice, I thought Henderson would be in a midfield 3, and how Mount is starting over Sancho/Grealish/Foden is baffling.

Not even slightest suprised.

Sadly, majority that are normal fans, will be under the spotlights just because there are people behaving like they have been let out in the society for the first time ever.

For feck sake. Why can’t we just be a normal country?
It's ridiculous isn't it?! I've posted so regularly against people tarring all English people with the 'moronic hooligan' brush but I have to say we really don't help ourselves. Time and time again a minority just act shamelessly. Our country's problematic relationship with alcohol definitely doesn't help.

People storming the stadium must be some sort of protest against the owners of England or something. Might get a fan meeting or something if we’re lucky.

Disgusting, I remember when the French did it 300 years ago just because they couldn't buy food.

What England have shown, and France, Germany and Spain beforehand is that when there is a focus on developing young players, there is usually a payoff down the line, circa 10 years or so.

was exactly the same with the olympics in 2012. GB got the Olympics, and suddenly the investment goes into athletes and the result is more medals…

Vancouver, Canada is known as a beautiful city with friendly people. However the two times our hockey team made the NHL finals (94 and 2011) were followed by large riots following losses. I can imagine win or lose there will be massive issues after the game. I hope the police are ready and out in numbers (the local government here was under scrutiny for not thinking a riot could happen again in 2011 when it did and they were unprepared)

Henderson should be starting I think. Eh I've questioned Gareth's team selection pretty much every game apart from the Ukraine one so why change the habit.
With you on this. His experience could come in useful tonight considering the occasion, and there isn't much between Rice/Phillips/Henderson in terms of ability. The only issue is too much scousery in Henderson, which is a fairly big issue admittedly.

Well aware. How one beutifle town can get smashed by its own people is just amazing. I was thinking what will happen after game. What if Italy takes it home?

How is that Italy’s fault. It is the officials fault so blame on them instead of Italy.
Nah, I'll blame who I want to blame thanks. Namely Chiellini for bumbling in like the big lump he is and the Italian players who surrounded the officials the entire game and waved their arms about whenever a Scottish player sneezed.
