Luckhurst has been saying we want another CB after Varane but the price for Kounde would be more than Varane surely? Unless we’ve given up on trippier and he can cover rb too.

Why do they ever write this stuff? If he’s going to bullshit a story at least make it plausible like he’s the number 1 backup signing if Varane doesn’t happen.
We obviously aren’t signing 2 CB’s that’s just fecking stupid

I don't get how there's "no other clubs in the race" for Varane.
I reckon teams talk to agents to get wind of interest. If a player says 'id like to play in this league" but thats it, then I expect we would see numerous clubs in for him.
If however a player has talked and is looking at a specific club (I feel the same for Sancho too) then, unless a club has the ability to trump it with a lot more money (as weve seen chelsea and city do a few times, and even us in the 90s), then I guess the clubs might feel its a waste and look elsewhere?

He finally left Fulham, eh? I remember when he was talking about a ton about leaving Fulham a year or two ago.
