The same story at the beginning of every season.

And then when the league progresses, United fans finally realise they are not in the class of Chelsea and need to strength.
We literally just finished above you? If we're talking purely about the league.

He will score goals but within 2 years the same issues that were apparent at Utd(or Everton if you were paying attention) with his all round game will lead to Chelsea looking for a replacement.

So, how many goals will he get in all comps? Predictions please!
His Premier League-record is 17, 15, 10, 18, 25, 16 and 12. His United-record wasn’t very impressive and little suggests he’ll break 20 league goals for Chelsea either. What happens in Italy is pretty uninteresting stuff, it’s a shit league. I would put him at 17-19 goals, but nowhere near what Kane is capable of playing 35+ games.

Paying 100M for a 28 year old and very heavy Lukaku is nothing short of insane. United-fans were mostly thrilled when he was shipped away for a big pile of cash, we all remember how he messed up attacks and made it difficult for other players to thrive. Have goals against Finland and Torino really clouded Abramovich’s judgment this bad? Feck me.

Grealish is about to turn 26, never scored for his country, never played in Europe and he's just about had 2 good seasons in the Premier League. £100m is ridiculous.

I'm confident Lukaku will be a success but I'm not so sure about Grealish.

We bought Sancho and Varane for roughly the same amount as Lukaku. Looking forward to the season as well.

Aside from the fact we’ve finished above you twice in a row in the league and will do so again this season. A flukey champions league means very little.
United fans have really fallen on hard times when they prioritize finishing 2nd over winning the Champions league. You only need look at the clean sheets we kept and the records we set to know there was nothing flukey about the win. By any measure it was a well deserved trophy.

Put that 2nd place trophy next to those second place medals you got against that super club Villarreal.

I’m sorry but when did anyone “prioritise finishing second”? Someone came in here to tell us how great Chelsea are and people are merely pointing out that we have finished above you two seasons in a row you weirdo.

you need to learn to read the post I quoted. Enjoy your second place finish. We are definitely enjoying being the Champions of Europe.
 it's so simple.

Chelsea fan posted about league, United fan replied saying we finished above Chelsea. It's not celebrating ffs, it's stating facts.

@MalcolmTucker even helped him with the post. Must be really hard to connect 2 posts together.

The post I quoted played up finishing 2nd and attempted to play down us winning the Champions league. I get that it has been a long time since you lot have won trophies, but it is strange to try to play down when a team wins the CL.

Yeah start the post randomly, removing the first part of conversation.

No one is celebrating 2nd place. Just because someone said flukey CL win doesn't mean you also should start posting nonsense like "celebrating 2nd place" shit.

Also that post didn't play up 2nd place finish, it was obvious reply for nonsense like this

You're more in the Liverpool and Porto bracket of champions league winners, rather than prime Barcelona.

Where was United last year? You were favored by 11 goals by most of your fans against Villarreal. We play them on Wednesday with some of our starters sitting out and I think we get it done.

Couldn't be happier that Chelsea chose to spend their 100-130 million on Lukaku. They are going by the mathematics of it that they create chances and Lukaku scores them. My prediction is they will fail in the chemistry section and with Lukaku they will create fewer chances. It's at best a sideways movement according to me that just gives them advantage of deeper squad and different options.

I love how Lukaku is suddenly a world-class at 100 mil price tag. People's memory is so short! He left us because he wouldn't be a starter with us and he wouldn't be because he wasn't good enough.

This is great news for us. If Harry Kane moves to City it will be even better news. Both of them are "stats" attackers i.e. they score a lot in meaningless games and then naive people think they are actually good. Neither Kane nor Lukaku are top class. Cavani last season for us was more impactful than Kane or Lukaku will ever be.

This is great news for us, especially if we can sign Haaland, who now will have less options, at least in EPL

Kane is certainly top class.

Lukaku and Kane both 28 and going to our rivals.
Both going to score goals, Lukaku around 20 and Kane 25-30.
Messi going PSG swallowing 52 million whilst they are increasing their wages to 450 million a season at the same time their Tv deal for the whole league was 800 million euros and collapsed in a month. Barca skint, Real skint and Juventus skint.
Haaland with a release clause next season, a goal machine and potentially the future best player in the world. This could be the perfect storm for UTD. Surely it leaves us or Bayern.

What is with so many Chelsea fans acting like d**** on this forum? I get that this is a Chelsea thread and a bit of banter is welcome...

But sneering and openly mocking United and our fans when there's no need to...This is still a United forum

That sentence has to be one of the most ill judged I've read in quite some time.

The difference is no one is claiming that we're the best team in Europe. Quite frankly in our champions league campaign we beat PSG away from home comfortably and smacked Leipzig 5-0 but ballsed up a corner against bloody Istanbul which cost us. That is the nature of cup competitions.

That's always why the league is the best barometer of a team's ability. And the evidence was over 38 games you barely scrapped 4th. No one will remember Chelsea as a great champions league winning squad, in the same way people barely remember Greece winning Euro 2004.

People always refer to the winners of the CL. They never refer to who finished 2nd in a league. People bring up Liverpool did not win the league for 30 years, nobody mentions the times they finished 2nd in those 30 years. I do understand United fans trying to play down teams winning major trophiee because of the long drought of their club not winning anything. It does look odd. If your team had won the Europa League final, I guarantee you that your fan base would have made a huge deal about it. Winning the Champions League is a big deal.

I’ve addressed this in other posts. My post does make it seem like I’m favouring the league position which isn’t true. Chelsea winning the champions league is a big achievement, however I still fundamentally think the rest of Europe is pretty weak right now and Chelsea rode their luck. Sure the statistics may look positive but I think ultimately Tuchel has just made Chelsea a very negative team who sit behind the ball and aim to control. Seems to have worked so far but I think they will be found wanting for lack of real quality in the league on a consistent basis.
