1. Big bang theory.
2. Two and a Half Men.
3. Love Island

Love Island arguably should be higher up on the list. It really holds a mirror to society.
Why not just put Only way is Essex in their as well

I'm choosing my 3 most recently watched series

House
Mad Men
Quantico Season 1 That should have just been made as a 3 part series. 2 & 3 were poor.

Quantico aside, I love deeply flawed characters hence House and Mad Men. i'd also say Sherlock to keep it consistent.

Breaking Bad also fits that perfectly.

The Sopranos, The Wire and Mad Men. Quality of writing that was unparalleled and probably won’t be seen again. The more streaming services, the more content produced, less risks are taken and talent is spread far too thin.

Criminal Minds
Seinfeld
Frasier

Criminal Minds was probably the only show I've seen that kept it's standard up to a very high standard from start to finish for so many years without any signs of decline, jumping the shark, etc. 15 seasons of it and, despite losing key characters along the way, it replaced them well and kept its writing to the same very high standard throughout.

Seinfeld was unusual in that it started poorly but was allowed the time to find its footing and become one of the best sitcoms of all time.

Frasier was more typical, in that, like many shows, it started well but eventually lost its way with both its acting and writing. But those first 7 seasons or so are brilliant and a joy to watch.

1. Breaking Bad
I've been struggling to get into The Wire and The Sopranos but Breaking Bad did it for me. Highest calibre combination of drama, stakes, action and character building I've seen on TV. Better Call Saul could be a contender as well if it sticks the landing.

2. Twin Peaks
In terms of quality it probably doesn't belong here due to inconsistency (and The Return was too weird for me) but it's a personal fave and I love the vibe and the weirdness of the first two seasons.

3. Watchmen
I was simply in awe of the sheer ambition and originality of this limited series. To take a beloved IP and take that many chances in terms of bringing it into a new time while maintaining such incredibly high quality. Really impressive stuff from Lindelof, this is the best limited series for me, ahead of both Fargo and True Detective season 1.

Honourable mentions: LOST, Succession, Mare of Easttown (best crime show since Twin Peaks for me, even better than True Detective season 1), Better Call Saul.

With both Succession and Better Call Saul still running, we have writing of a similar calibre right now. Mare of Easttown was brilliantly written too. There's plenty of great TV in the streaming era.

Wasn't aware there were such stringent rules...

It's a TV show. It counts. Fawlty Towers is widely recognised as one of the best TV shows of all time and it only has two more episodes than Band of Brothers, so I am not sure on your reasoning.
The world has become an authoritarian place.

Yet you put True Detective in your list, which is an anthology series where each season is almost completely unrelated to the previous one. You even specified Season 1.
Obviously everyone knows season 1 was the best, but the other two are pretty good too.

Dig up stupid!
Oh ffs now I have to watch the wire again
I've got one of those iptv thingys lately and there's a 24hr The Wire channel, on an almost daily basis I drop in on a random episode and end up watching 3 on the bounce. It literally never gets old, the script and performances are perfection

There's a lot of great TV now, Mad Men, Sopranos, BB etc but The Wire is still the daddy

If we can pick individual seasons rather than quality of the entire show, the process becomes even more difficult. True Detective season 1 is probably the best single season of a show I have ever seen, maybe besides Band of Brothers, but I think the other seasons take away from the overall quality of the series. Ditto the second season of Fargo (although season 1 was great as well), or the first seven or so seasons of the Simpsons if we can disregard the next 20 something. But, based on quality of the entire run of the show, my favourite three are:

Breaking Bad
Band of Brothers
Nathan For You (ever so slightly ahead of Peep Show/Its Always Sunny)
I'd add prison break season 1 as well as one of the best seasons of TV.

I've rewatched it on its on before.

Mad Men & BoJack Horseman would be my top-2, I think.

I really struggle with the third one though, there are so many. Twin Peaks, The Sopranos, The Simpsons (obviously up until some point). Community, Peep Show, Boardwalk Empire, The Office (US), Fleabag... and so many more.

I’ll go with Twin Peaks, I guess, there was never anything like it before or since.

1. Breaking Bad
2. Better Call Saul
3. Stranger Things

At the moment, anyway. Better Call Saul and Stranger Things have another season to come which could change their place in my list. Cobra Kai also runs them very close and has more seasons to come.

We should have a list of Top 3 shows apart from The Wire, Sopranos and BB as those will be fairly common.

I was in the middle of watching Twin Peaks and then it went from Netflix. That was years ago. I agree it was brilliant.

Indeed. I Blame the bloody Romans. What did the Romans ever do for us...?

But, despite this trend of people being so easily willing to bend over to so-called authority, I am going to stick with my gut feeling and proudly proclaim my belief that "TV show" still means - a show that was aired on television.

My gut feeling is, Firefly counts, Black Mirror counts, Band of Brothers doesn't. :)
Not really any logic, just gut feeling. But your reasoning of "was aired on television" is very outdated in the times of Netflix. :)

I’d strongly disagree on Mare of Easttown. Horrible writing. Anybody can throw a host of ridiculous red herrings on a page. Better Call Saul and Succession are very good, but they’re not at that level for me.

Yes, of course streaming platforms are now a thing....yet I don't hold the opinion that, in a thread named 'Greatest TV Shows of All-Time', anything which specifically did not air on a TV station should not be allowed. That would be pretty ridiculous. Instead, I am simply saying that a show which DID air on TV, should be allowed in such a titled thread.

Funny how things work...
