Everton friendly gave a good indication of who would start the game with a few exceptions. The back 5 picks itself. I think we could see Matic and DVB be the surprise starters behind Bruno. They looked sharp against Everton. James, Martial and Greenwood as the front three.

My biggest issue with James on the left is him taking away many of Shaw's best attributes. He's simply not good enough on the ball.

Sancho and Pogba to come on at some stage.

I'm going with a 3-1 score. Leeds normally are weak on the counter, we've for pace and through balls to hurt them.

Agree - think it's 50/50 between James and Pogba though.

Think the squad picks itself apart from central midfield and the left wing. I’m guessing James starts left, with Sancho coming on in the second half.

Hard to say who starts in the middle. Van de Beek and Matic have had preseason but McFred is Ole’s love

How have we signed a right winger finally and instantly have left wing issues. Never ending

It’s only for the first game with Rashford and Cavani out and Pogba and Sancho not quite ready.

My preference would also be Pogba or Sancho. However, the coaches tend to look at the past with James having a good game at Old Trafford against Leeds last season which could tempt Ole into picking him again.

Rashford, Martial, Pogba, Sancho, Greenwood and James are all very capable of playing the left-wing role. However, with Cavani and Rashford unavailable for this game it's just a guessing game who Ole will go with as we're not aware how things are fitness-wise this early with some players just recently returning.

I have a feeling Leeds will not play an expansive game like they did last season against United at Old Trafford. They did change their tactics in the home fixture and were much more defensive if I remember correctly.

I can't see the game ending anything other than 4-0 if we go with this lineup.

I wish Greenwood scores. I want him to score more than 15 league goals this year and really kick on as a nailed-on starter.

The Leeds fans have found Manchester City Centre for once apparently, going to be tasty!

Have to say I'm starting to feel quite nervous about this game. I can't stop thinking about the fact that Leeds have had a full pre-season while a lot of our key players have only had one or two games. I think we may need to weather a real storm in the early 20 or so minutes until things settle.

Having thought long and hard, this is the team I would go with, and also the team I expect to start:

    ---------------------De Gea-----------------

    AWB---Lindelof---Maguire----Shaw

    -----------Fred--------Van De Beek------

    Greenwood------Bruno--------James

    --------------------Martial---------------------

Heavily favouring players who have had a full (or at least fuller) preseason here. Donny may be a surprise, but he's looked good in pre-season, and I really think we need a player who play short, quick, line-breaking passes around the Leeds players without trying anything to fancy. He's also great at breaking into the box from deeper, much the way McTominay did last season (who I've not started as I don't believe he's fully fit). I'm tempted to play Pogba but he's not looked sharp in pre-season, and a Pogba at less than full match fitness can be a liability, especially against a pressing team. Sancho can come on for James around the hour mark and terrorise a tired Leeds. Matic to come on late as a controlling presence if we're ahead, Pogba to drive us forward if we're trailing.

    2-1 United... I hope.

Buzzing for this. We had a good pre season, the atmosphere around the place is super positive and with the fans behind us it'll be a nice two nil win with some sexy footie on show

Off to the gym now, then shower, food and some glorious footie on show at OT! :)

Less than three hours to go. I got us winning 3-1. Martial, Bruno and a late Sancho goal.

Ajax clapped them 4-0 in pre season (3 goals in the first half with both teams running their strongest lineup) and Ajax looked way off the pace in the supercup a week later (0-4 loss to PSV). Leeds have had a terrible pre season, with 2 draws, 2 losses vs average opposition and their only win was over Guiseley. They're nervous and not looking forward to MU away...

So we're relying on Tony for a goal today? Hopefully Greenwood and Fernandes show up also.
