So much depends on this season. How we perform. How he himself performs. If he's enjoying his football and is an asset to the side, I think an agreement can be reached.

I think he genuinely has a lot of love for the club and many of his teammates here. But if it's not going to lead to winning trophies, then it makes no sense for either party for him to stay. I think he'd love nothing more than to lead us back to the top.
My sentiments exactly.

A reliable reporter. Very interesting.

Much more so that the guy who reported he rejected that contract which was clearly nonsense since no one else backed it up.

Thread title update surely? Pogba showing willingness to sign new deal.

Don't know how reliable is this guy but you are not extended until you actually sign it. So we have to assume he is leaving.

I actually feel sick about this whole situation. I think he is going to have his best season ever and then leave just as we are finally getting the squad competitive with City and the scousers. It's on us because you can't make someone stay that doesn't want to stay. Hopefully bruno can convince him to stay if we actually win something. For me this whole saga is going to take the shine off the buzz all season unless he signs a new contract. It feel like the season that we knew Ronaldo was gone at the end. Did my head in that.

There are very few players in the world who can replace Pogba for us. Most of them would cost over 70-80M and are probably not even attainable.

Pogba is one of our best players. If he goes, we will miss him. Last season we struggled with creativity when he was out of the squad. Ideally you keep your best players.

But right now, I dont think its smart to give any of our players 400k+ contracts. De Gea's contract was a mistake. I think we should put a final offer of 350k for Pogba, and hope he accepts. That is a very reasonable offer for both him and us, KdB is on similar money. Otherwise its best to let him go.

€600k pw is nuts. I would neither blame him for leaving nor would I blame us for not putting up a fight to keep him. He's simply not worth that much to us.

We can't play him in the middle because Ole wants two workmanlike CMs/DMs there. On the left wing where he currently plays, we have Rashford when he returns, Sancho and even Martial.

I'd rather we give half that to Haaland next summer, we'll be a better team for it.
Haaland's wage will also be astronomical. I think we won't get him for this very reason.

I thought just yesterday there were reports about him being offered 600k pw if he leaves on a free? And today reports about Pogba being close to extending with United?

I doubt he'll sign a new deal with us.
Think its anyone's guess at the moment

That's what I think as well. Also, I think the official offer is the last thing in this process, but terms need to be agreed first between the club and the agent.
No deal signed means there is no agreement, I don't trust any of those "reporters".

Hope he keeps up this form from the left. His and Bruno's being this creative without the burden to be the engine room could give us a great start to the season.

Well that's two decent to good reporters now reporting that he is considering and willing to sign a new contract.

Who wrote the 600k story because that could be pulled out of anywhere?

Just like how the rejected contract story appears clearly to be made up despite the fact everyone believed it.

All that matters is there is talks. There would be no talks if it was decided

Indeed because only the negative reports must be true

Independent saying PSG offering 510,000 a week for him to join next summer.

If we give him that then we've learned nothing from the DDG and Sanchez deals. If he puts in a full season of performances like he did at the weekend then maybe just maybe you consider it. The very fact he equalled his PL assists of last season in the very first one of this says it all. Do it consistently and then get rewarded.

The 600k a week bollocks was reported by Miguel Delaney who is quite literally the worst journalist around - he’s been ranting all week about PSG, has seen Pogba get 4 assists and decided ooh I know what’ll get clicks - if I stick a figure plucked from my arse in the paper.

In Pogba`s case it wont matter, he can sign new contract to play for 600k or for free, same shit in eyes of many, they will w8 any situation where they can pop up and have a go. Imagine his performance drops right after new deal ( we had example or two in United ), lunatics would go berserk and we would see fastest switch from "hope he signs" to "another DDG, Sanchez, cnut took us to cleaners" etc.

No, because those are the only positive reports for the last 8-10 months about him signing an extension. Everything what was before since Raiola going public indicated to Pogba leaving.
Those new reports look like somebody is trying to please the fans, which I guess is working fine, but my opinion is he'll not sign an extension.

Nope. Not true at all. Romano has said all summer we’re trying to extend his deal and are confident he will be staying this summer at the least. Mitten has said several times over the last few months that Pogba is happy at the club and is open to signing a new deal. Schrager tweeted at the start of the summer that Pogba was looking for a new house in Manchester. Laurie Whitwell has said all summer there are doubts he wants to play in France and we’re in negotiations over a new deal which may happen after the window closes. Ole himself has said we’re still in talks and it’s about convincing him he can win here. All of these sources are infinitely more reliable than blaggers such as Delaney or the PR arms of the oil state that is PSG.

Fair enough, that sounds positive enough for me and I stand corrected. Although it felt like he was very close to join PSG at some point, but apparently it's dead now.

I don’t believe any of the PSG stories. Even if they want him, he has to want them and given his comments about his parents I genuinely doubt he does.
I also think Paul has more about him than to just move for money. Winning is his motivation, which is why he flirted with Madrid a few years ago - if we can start challenging for the top trophies again then I see no reason why he would go anywhere.

People believe all the stories from all the reporters and then blame Pogba.

I still agree with you in that he may well stay. It's 50/50 in my mind. Would be nice to draw a line under it either way though.

We should be putting in a release clause to be honest, if that would help sell it to his pig of an agent.
That makes some sense with Pogba. He's really not the sort of player you want to have around unless he wants to be there anyway.

This great Leeds game is making people dizzy. We've had Pogba for his supposedly "best years" yet he's produced so little. He's a liability in a midfield two, Bruno is a better attacking midfielder. The only place he can operate currently is on the left with Fred and McTominay doing all the dirty work behind him. But we now have Sancho, who seems to be yet another left-wing player, Rashford who also prefers to play on the left, even Martial.
It'll be a nice luxury to have Pogba around, I'm sure. Great squad depth. Not for the money Raiola would demand though, I don't think.

Doesnt it seem like Ole finally has solved the puzzle where and how to play him though, as a roaming midfielder with full freedom?

I agree the Leeds game shouldnt be seen as a benchmark since they seem to be our perfect match and not using compact defence, but still - I think Pogba absolutely will thrive with no positional requirements, not to mention that Sancho and Varane very likely will make him better as well.

Also agree that any ludicrous demands shouldnt be accepted, but paying him at the very top end of our wage structure is justifiable I think . Which is what we are rumoured to have offerede him anyway.
