It would be soul destroying to see him in a city shirt. Up there with the Aguero moment but sustained over a year or two or however the feck long he's there for.

I can just imagine the amount of boos and abuse he would get of he decides to wear a city shirt. I've always been a fan but I don't think I'd be able to stomach him being a city player.

Feck him.

As almost impossible as it may be, him joining City and us then winning the league or CL (or both) would be orgasmic.

My favorite United player of all time. Would be hard to stomach seeing him play for City. I hope it doesn’t happen

Moreso because it's a completely fecking ludicrous opinion that one of the best footballers in the history of the game has "awful build up play". Especially going off last season, his performances for Portugal and...literally every single game which he has played in in the past 15 seasons, all of which supply more than enough evidence that holding that opinion is positively dense to put it mildly.

The rest of his statement was self-refuting.
Sigh

I doubt it’s true, but I would not be the least bit surprised if he wanted it to happen - he speaks well about us, but I’m sure those of us who were around when he was pushing to leave remember that he doesn’t actually give a feck about United.

Sir Alex yes, but United were a stepping stone for him, and there’s no reason at all to think he’d turn-down City if they went in for him.

I would be extremely upset if he joined city. Surely the rivalry must hold some weight if he was to cross the divide. It would be god damn awful if he joined them as he will likely bring them even more trophies than they already have.
Let’s hope sir Alex has a word with him before city get their hands on him. He would surely consult with his ‘football father’ on this matter. Sir Alex would let him know in no uncertain terms that if he did go to city then all of his accomplishments at United would effectively be null and void and this legend talk will be put to rest. At our club atleast.

There’s no way in hell he’s going to city guys..

It’s actually hilarious how some of you think that’s even possible

There’s 3 teams he’d never go to .. City Liverpool Barca.

See that's the thing, it's not even like Ronaldo was a long time ago like George Best etc., This stuff was just over 10 years ago. It's been very clear for a long time that Ronaldo doesn't actually care about United. He loves Sir Alex, without a doubt, but his connection to United was always the great man, not the club.

So despite the many many MANY positive things Ronaldo has said about United since leaving, it’s taken a link to City for MANY United fans taking a dump on Ronaldo. Claiming that he doesn’t infact like United & it’s all for show.

United fans man.
I'm sure Real Madrid fans would say the same things if he was being linked to Barcelona or Athletico.

After United beat Juventus:

"They create two chances, set-pieces, you know the English teams, they are always looking for the set-pieces but we will learn from our mistakes and we are still top of the group."

United are just another English team for him.

I don't believe that it's all about winning the CL either. If it was about that then he should of just stayed at Madrid where he won it 4/5 years.

If he went to city then it's about money more than anything. Just like Messis move to PSG.

If Ronaldo wants to further his legacy then he should go to Germany. A Dortmund or Munich team with Ronaldo could challenge for champions league. And he also has the potential to win the title in the top four divisions in Europe before one final pay cheque in the farmers league to complete the big 5.

Why does he want to leave Juve? I know he's not won the champions league there but he's done pretty well hasn't he?
I’d think last season shows Juventus is on decline while Ronaldo doesn’t have the time to go through rebuild period with them. Their brand of football is too slow and defensive which doesn’t suit Ronaldo’s game at all too. He still scores a lot there though, but imagine number of goals Ronaldo would score in dominating/attacking side.

...and also mid-life crisis career change Pirlo.

Obviously salty after that defeat.

Are people going to give him the same treatment they gave Rooney now that he is flirting with City?
Don't count on it.

People will still scream SIUUU whenever he scores despite him thinking he was a slave here and now allegedly flirting with our city rivals.

Surely after enduring City and Liverpool being so dominant the past few seasons, the last thing we need is for Cristiano to move to City. I'd rather he go back to Madrid and see out his career there. At this age, he is better off playing in a warmer climate city anyway, it'll aid in his recovery post matches.

I cringe when I see our social media pages post about him, which happens quite regularly. This guy bailed on us at 23 after calling himself a slave. I have respect for him but people should have some pride.

Juve only want 25m? Get it done. CR7 is not a normal 36 year old. He will play at the top level until he's 40 and he will teach our young players so much. Doesn't hurt that he will also score 30 goals...

I have never understood the passionate love so many United fans have for Ronaldo. Yes he was top class for United, but wanted to leave and his agent talked about "being a slave etc". Reminds a bit of Raiolas comments about Pogba perhaps. Ronaldo was desperate to leave, only stayed because he was forced to. Don't fool yourself, in his world it's all about himself. If City wanted him, he would sign the contract right now.

Exactly this. People overestimate his love for United. He wouldn't flinch if he had a chance to join City. Yet many call him a club legend. Great player for us? Most definitely.
Legend? No.

I wonder if Woodward was still around, would we be in for him? Woodward loves a big name and him and Mendes are buddies I thought

I have always felt that the "love" some fans think he has for our club is more the love and fondness he has for Sir Alex. As you say, I don't think he is emotionally tied to our club at all. The emotion/love is more for the memories and the people he shared it with.

If he really loved United, he would not have left the way he did. Ronaldo is just a media whore. Just read the statement on the rumours about his exit; there isn't a single phrase about committing to Juve creating even more speculation. Very much similar to "the future?, only God knows" when he wanted to leave United.

But in contrast there are many many United fans who are also Ronaldo fanboys, eternally loyal to him that I'm sure they'd be willing to support City if he went there.

Good.

"Nah, he's too old"
"Nah, the ship has sailed"
"He's losing his legs"

etc. One would think this is a Barcelona forum with most bashing him and preferring Leo Messi.

We never really wanted him in the first place. right boys?

I don’t think Ronaldo has ever really given much of a shit about United. His loyalty was to Fergie. If he goes to City he destroys his legend at United, but sadly it’s our fans who will care much more about that than Ronaldo himself.
Our fans are hilarious when it comes to Ronaldo, anyone but Ronaldo is the mantra for some over here.

Would be karmic justice for the "he's too old the ships's sailed" brigade for him to come to city and prove them wrong.

Alas I happened to support United

Some "united fans" need to have some self respect. FFS he does not care about you nor united. You are just being fansboys of Ronaldo.

Shite, I mean United games :D I do watch every single game that is televised though...drives the wife nuts!

As for checking his statement for validity, I wouldn't bother if I couldn't check it against a reliable source.
Hahaha ah, I gotcha, that makes more sense!

Definitely. He has great connection with Fergie but not with the club itself.

L'equipe running a story that ronaldo has already spoken to the Portuguese contingent at City. City would meet his wage demands but dont want to pay a large transfer fee.

Ronaldo to City isnt great or idea for us (him being a ex utd player, but he wants to win more CL trophies so i dont blame him). However in terms of next summer, if we fail to land haaland then we could go for kane as a backup option.

I don't think he will join city. But he will be approached by city then it will be hard to turn down at this stage of his career.

As I said it's all about money and players have all the power to choose wher they want to be.

Fans only have this loyalty to club and all. Once Frank done city shirt in his twilight years I am done with this player loyalty thingy. Thanking Frank for not done Spurs or arsenal shirt. That's all I could say at that time.
