Is Jesus that bad? Was Iheanacho?
I realise they're not amongst the best players in the world in their position but surely you can manage with 1 solid professional in the first 11 (or 2 i guess with Zinchenko but frankly he looks pretty good).

He's such an odious cnut. I wish one day he would just say yeah we have money and we're spending it left, right and centre, what are you gonna do about it?
Instead he gets all childish and defensive when there's talk about their sending and all the way he's still trying to sell a Saint Pep image of himself all while being a manager backed by fekin UAE.
But like one City fan said hehe, they're reforming, they haven't had public beheadings well over a year there.
His going on about United and arsenal's spending was just a long winded "they started it"

I know it'll never happen, but I'd love to see them finish 5th or 6th this season, or a real shitshow like the vermin had last season. That would be great.

I hope they sign Kane because 1. It will really make the pl and clubs in Europe put pressure on them re ffp 2. It will give us a better chance of signing Haaland next year 3. He has an injury record and is 29

That's the weird thing. Gundogan and Foden are good but Foden wasn't a signing and Gundogan took a while. Its strange how few of the signings made under him became key players.
Pep has always been poor at signings but he's a good tactician.

Grealish a poor signing...slow things down and only knows how to win lame free kicks. Many players are better than him actually.

Pep is an overblown smart arse who thinks hes a level above those around him. That city team is toothless without KdB and it showed that they only start being more of a threat when hes playing.

Stop bullying Pep. He's a football artist and only needs 150 million Kane to complete his masterpiece.

Zinchenko doesn’t really count - they bought him when he was 18, maybe even 19. Dortmund don’t claim Sancho is their youth product for example.

Ermmmm, shall we just ignore they had one of the greatest strikers in the premier league ever then? What are you smoking buddy?
Augero has been knackered for at least 18 months and Jesus is shite.

The didn't have a proper striker last season and were pretty close to winning all 4 trophies.

I'm just saying if they don't get Kane then we have of a chance, if they get Kane then it pretty much kills the League dead. The most expensive squad ever assembled and then you add a 150m striker into it?

Would be horrible.

They've not had a proper striker for years now and they've still been very successful.

Not really. You said they’ve not had a proper striker for years. That ain’t true.

Aguero was only missing for parts last season but still appeared in 12 premier league games.

The seasons before last season:
19/20 - 32 app 26 goals
18/19 - 46 app 32 goals
17/18 - 39 app 30 goals

So basically what I’m trying to say is you just made that shit up to make a point that isn’t a point. He was basically injured last season and City got away with it. So, yeah City haven’t been without a proper striker for years. In fact not even a full 1 year.

He scored 4 league goals and 2 were on the last day with the title already long won so he didn't really contribute much did he?

So ok then they cantered to the title with games to spare last season and almost won 4 trophies without a proper striker, so yeah it is a full year.

I thought he'd been Injury prone for a couple of years but looks like it was only last year, to be fair though the pre covid times feel like decades ago so that explains my mistake

Your original point was if they don't buy a striker are they in trouble? and the answer is obviously not.

Pep need to replace fernandinho. He can get away in any other league with weak midfield but in premier league he need that defensive cushion in midfield otherwise any team will trouble them in premier league.

I won't mind if he sign kane or messi but if he able to sign midfield enforcer to give breathing space for their defense then I will worry a lot,the league almost over for rest if that happened.

Once he signs Kane and then somehow tries to justify it with net spend, proclaiming how city are on par with other teams in the PL in terms of money spent, he will be so happy, so so happy.

No they're not bad players but City, Pep and their fans expect the cream of the crop, proper spoilt little shits. Look at the moaning (even from pundits!) that they need Kane "desperately", they just won the league at a canter!

If they think Kane means an automatic win in the CL they're severely mistaken. That cup is incredibly difficult to win consistently. Just look at how PSG have struggled for years even with all their quality players.

So they haven’t had success without a striker for “years”. That was hard to get to.

Hes had enough money to buy players not good enough then buy more and more. Most clubs cant just throw a £30 + million player out and buy another for more , and saint pep has done it regular at the club. If he cant buy players hes fecked.

name all the players he's bought for £30m+ and then thrown out and just replaced with an expensive upgrade, I can think of 1 in 5 seasons and he didn't cost £30m but managed to sell him for a £6m profit.

This I think is the biggest issue with Pep, he's always trying to prove he's super clever and sometimes simple solutions are the best. Like him going without Rodri in CL final, it was completely unnecessary and should not have happened in a game this important but he had to do that because in case it worked out he'd be the mastermind behind it.

He hasn't sold them, he's just kept them around as squad players.

that's a totally different point and not the point I was responding to, but again the only player I can think of is Mendy out of the current squad, Laporte is wanting out and I think we're willing to sell but considering he was injured for nearly a full season in 19/20 and no one really saw the resurgence of Stones I don't think that can be laid at Pep's door that he's selling a dud.

Pep is the only manager in the league and possibly in the world who can spend £50m on a player and use him as a squad player because he can afford to basically have a squad full of them. It's not really about signing duds and selling them at a loss but signing league's top performers and using them as rotation players because he can build a squad so deep.

When you look at defence depth chart it's Mendy, Zinchenko, Laporte, Stones, Ake, Dias, Walker and Cancelo. They are all £40m+ (mostly £50m+) players except for Zinchenko.

Midfield is the same: Rodri, Bernardo, Sterling, Grealish, Mahrez, De Bruyne are all £40m+ players and I think only one of them was below £50m. At any other club signings of this calibre would be expected to play week in week out but at City you can buy Grealish and Mahrez and play them 60-70% of time without worrying about poor value.

that's fair enough but that really wasn't the point I was referring too, I was referring to throwing out 30m+ players and rebuying which he blatantly hasn't done.

Pep has spent a fortune and will continue to do so but so have United in the last 5 years, at least Pep has delivered for the most part, United defence isn't too dissimilar for City's, Shaw, Wan Bissaka, Lindelof, Bailley, Magure, Varane are all £30m plus players and you add in others like Telles and the values spent isn't much difference.

United have had to spend to get back to the level that the club were at under SAF and also have to be able to keep up with City.

Your goalkeeper springs to mind. Your many full backs. Mahrez. Barring Chelsea, pretty much every other club would have to use these expensive players as first choice until they can get someone else to take them off their hands. City and Chelsea roll again with their inexhaustible funds.

Difference is Pep inherited a team with premier league winners (KDB, Aguero, Sterling, Stones, Kompany, was Yaya still thereunder?) and his best player was still inherited. But still had to spend a billion. You could easily argue that any manager could win the same trophies with that ridiculous level of investment on top of an already winning team.

Mangala is one Wilfried Boney another he was just under 30 million . Fabian Delph another plus a few more maybe not all 30 million still a fair amount of cash to throw at maybes . But let's all agree hes a top manager with money .

Yep, a top manager with money and has to inherit one of the best squads too.

Barca had those players prior to him going there
Bayern the same
City the same

He is a top manager, when given the tools and delivers titles.

For me, he is not a great manager though, he has never shown he can do it within a budget or a club that needs to be rebuilt.

Yep I put Bony in there , I think he was just before saint pep came in but never mind all the other managers have done the same because they can take gambles with transfers some clubs cant.

he didn't purchase any of those players, that was Pelligrini, and Delph cost £7m or something

Still the same bought on a whim sold . Mangala was 40 mill, left for 0 I think no matter who the manager was its blue print of the owner.

I don't like the way he gets extremely close to the line(physically) when a team is on the counter.

He'll have to battle on bravely this season without a 130m striker...
