If true you have to wonder why their interest never came up during the Sancho negotiations.
Perhaps they want the maximum amount of money for Sancho. Letting us know they want Dalot, risks that we may lower the offer by involving Dalot.

we simply can't afford to let him leave at this point. After loaning out Williams and with Telles still out, he's pretty much the only backup we have on either side :houllier:

Brilliant, hope it happens. Put a buy back clause and an obligation to buy next year. Use that money to buy Trippier .
Which money? The money isn't coming until next year. At Madrid aren't negotiating for Tripper. Clause or feck off.

Agree similar deal with At Madrid as well. Loan with mandatory option. Clubs does it all the time.

Didn’t we turn down a loan with an option to buy from Milan?
If we do this its because we want to bring someone else in and wanna make space on the wage bill beforehand.

We'd be leaving ourselves short at fullback though so, clearly, we're looking to go for someone important.

What would we be left with? Lindelof/Jones as RB cover? Alternatively a back 3 with James as RWB. Grim either way.

Sorry BVB, we can't do that. You can have Jones or Mata instead.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

Waaaay back in June we had approached Trippier, Camavinga, Varane and Sancho. These were the targets with Ornstein saying the former two would be late in the window if they happened to drive the price down and relied on sales. Dalot and Lingard out - those two in? Seems like that was the plan.

Assuming we can get £13m for Dalot from Dortmund our Sancho fee gets reduced to the £60m which is excellent.

Two injured right-backs. And their third choice Passlack has been terrible.

I don't really rate Dalot and I would happily let him go if we get a loan with an obligation to buy or a straight up buy offer for an acceptable fee. But this late into the window, with Atletico quoting ridiculous price for Trippier, surely that would cause a bit of a problem? We can't go into the season with one senior right-back.

We'd be quite light at full back if we let him go, not sure I see the sense in it.

If we don't buy a new one, can we bring Laird back before the deadline? We definitely need an option there other than shifting Bailly/Lindelof there when AWB is unavailable (and for competition).

But hope a deal for Dalot happens. I don't think he's good enough as a full back.

I’m not sure Dalot is the player we should be getting rid of at this point. Williams end Laird are out on loan- we have no right back if AWB gets injured…

Possible. Over the past week United's Board seems to have suddenly become keener on loans than its been all summer.

Clearly they want to reduce the wage bill a bit. Is that just to reduce overheads or make space for paying someone new? Lets hope its the latter.
