Just because Liverpool are our main rivals doesn't mean City aren't rivals.
They aren’t a real club. Never in history was City a rival to United until like 5 years ago basically.

Yes it will hurt seeing him play for the blue side but then realistically I feel he is more of a Madrid legend. Also, doubt if he and Pep are actually even a good fit. It will be another Ibra moment. Feels ronaldo at this point has more to lose than gain with this move.

I thought he said before we would be the only Manchester club he'd return to... words obviously mean nothing

Hope it lights a fire under our current lot

I know he's not at his peak now but the thought of him at City is scary
With our shit central midfield I doubt it

Protests have to happen again over those yankee scumbags turning down a move for him, why on earth didn't the Portuguse prat tell us he wanted to move before we signed Edi up for another year
Probably because he wouldn’t want to come back here. He is trophy and glory driven. 100%. He doesn’t want a project at his stage, he just wants more trophies.

They're not the first or the last state/oil driven propaganda tool in football.

Probably time to give up on watching elite football for all of us if we disregard the best teams on the basis of the bank roll...it's only going to get worse.
Yeah I am starting to feel that way about the state driven and oil clubs

it’s the disrespect for Ferguson that gets me, a man who Ronaldo has said is like his second dad, really looked after him like his own while he was here, still waits for him at finals to cheer him on like a proud dad , how can you tarnish all of that to play for a plastic soulless club like City for what a few years ?

Sorry you can say it’s just a business and blah blah this is football these days etc but it tells you exactly the type of man Ronaldo is, you’re fecking adored by hundreds and thousands of United fans around the world, the reception he gets whenever he returns to OT is something he should be grateful for, treated like a king,

Classless move on all fronts and btw his scum bag agent Mendes who Fergie also spoke really highly off can F*** off too
Agreed. Surely PSG would be a nice non controversial option, they have an easy league to wind down his career in, possibly challenging for the CL as well.
So much for his claiming he'd never play for City.

Just read somewhere, if ronaldo joins city he will be the only player to have played under SAF, Jose and Pep. Some amazing coaches he has worked under.

Thought the Mbappe money would push them to hijack the deal but sadly doesn't look to be the case

Believe me I'm already in a state because he is going there combined with NO MIDFIELDER
I get the anger over not signing a midfielder but what do you want United to do about Ronaldo joining City? Try to sign him only for him to reject us because he's trying to one up Messi and chase CL's with a dominate oil club?

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
They are a rival if you live and work in Manchester. We're going to have to listen to all this forever now.

One of our former players going to city because he has a better chance of winning trophies there. It's horrible.
He’s going to city because we don’t want him/don’t think it’s prudent to give him and his agent the fees they’re commanding. Mendes offered him to us in March. And yeah they are a rival I just didn’t like the post blowing smoke up their ass

Not really fussed about him going to City. Wasn't either when Schmeichel or Cole went there. Tevez was somewhat upsetting because it felt like he did it just to spite SAF.
With CR in your squad, you can't really plan beyond two years and have to accommodate him no matter what

Won't play there due to Messi. He will have to share headlines.

He's scored 101 goals in 133 games for Juve. He'll bang them in for city. We should be after him.

Could have thought lets go and play together for a couple of seasons but like you say ego wouldn't allow it

Yeah madness turning him down for Edi if that's the case because he hadn't decided about going back to Uruguay then

Haven’t followed the story.. how likely is this?
Romano is saying they’re in advanced discussions. The only certainty is that it appears he’s walked out on juve.

what is interesting is that Romano seems to be the only news source in all of this with any certainty. Almost as if he’s being forced fed news to drum up interest in the player to see if other clubs bite.

What was written before euros is that United offered ronaldo a deal of around 17 million pounds per year (300k per week) but for whatever reason (whether factual or not) the deal didn’t go ahead.

I’m personally still under the impression that city are merely considering the idea (as he is not a pep style player and not in the same mould as Harry Kane) and that Mendes is trying to force us either to bite or city to panic given Kane came out and said he wasn’t interested just yesterday.

United may be considered a “project” to posters above but if Ronaldo was offered to us in March, I very much doubt he cares. I feel that he just wants out of juventus to a club that can at least arguably challenge for the Cl which United’s current squad certainly should be.

Everyone coming on here saying that ‘can’t believe that Ronaldo is going to city’ have perhaps forgotten his last 12 months at United - I was barely off the plane from Moscow in 08 and the ‘ I want to leave United for Madrid’ shite started - took the gloss off the previous season’s magnificent achievement a tad - and it then lasted for the next 12 months - the ‘will he won’t he leave saga’.

When he got his way and went to Madrid mid-contract, he and his advisers then deployed the bi-annual ‘I love Manchester’ shite to get a new deal at Madrid….if he goes to city it won’t cross his mind that it hurts the red side of Manchester to see him in blue - the guy has always been about CR7 with everyone else a distant second….most modern day footballers would do the same - just hurts us more cause we associate him with the last time we were genuinely better than city. Ah well - at least we have martial and lingard to fall back on…..

It's amazing that some people are falling for the clearly utter bollocks PR that Ronaldo was offered to Utd too.

It's an attempt to make it look like oh well what choice did Ronaldo have but to go City, its damage limitation for his reputation with Utd fans.

He wanted to go to Madrid, PSG or City. He's a cnut and the one good thing to come from this is no more Ronaldo songs sang ever again, unless they're abusive ones, and the social media team no longer posting tweets celebrating the fecking 13th anniversary of Ronaldo scoring the 3rd in a 4-0 win vs Aston Villa in 2006 or whatever. Desperate attempt to get likes and retweets.

I don't believe any of the tweets. Feels like a load of nonsense to create interest, probably engineered by Mendes. If PSG could swing it I would love to watch Ronaldo play with Messi for a season.

He’ll have been offered around Europe. He was on the bench end of last season and wanted out. Mendes will have been trying to find takers all summer. Of course we’ll have been offered him. As will Chelsea I’d imagine.

I haven't been following football news at all since the draw at Southampton and now I see Ronaldo to City being an actual possibility. Even if Ronaldo didn't give a single feck about United, I thought his relationship with SAF would stop him from joining another PL club, especially City. But I guess I was wrong.

The only thing that'll really bother me with this move is that we'll have to make changes to Bruno's chant.

This x1000.

Pure PR from his team and damage control to make it seem like we turned him down, so he had no choice.

Utter bollocks.

Might be wrong but I don’t think any of the City journos/mouthpieces have said a single word about this since the story really began to spread so fast? I thought they would be all over this considering it would be one of the most unexpected, shocking transfers in a very long time.

If that's the case, the club should play the game too. The same way every other top club does when they're disrespected. Barca are going out of their way to insult that midfielder who wants to leave. Tottenham called Kane on bullshit. PSG playing hardball with Mbappe. No reason United shouldn't link the truth, if it's the truth. I can see him being offered to us but us not being willing to pay what City are willing to.
